Change We Can Believe In?

Change We Can Believe In?by Greg Knapp Watching a Senator Barack Obama worship service -- I mean campaign rally stop -- almost makes me wonder why I'm not voting for him. Will he really begin to “heal the planet” and slow the rise of the oceans? Can all of these devoted disciples of The One be wrong? Yes they can! Excuse me for not taking part in the Obamagasms but this election is looking a lot more like 1984 instead of 2008. The Ministry of Truth keeps telling us what is okay to believe about Obama and that his words don’t really mean what they do. News outlets are banned from interviewing the candidate, citizens are investigated for asking questions, websites are ...

An Open Letter to Barack Obama from Ralph Nader

Dear Senator Obama: In your nearly two-year presidential campaign, the words "hope and change," "change and hope" have been your trademark declarations. Yet there is an asymmetry between those objectives and your political character that succumbs to contrary centers of power that want not "hope and change" but the continuation of the power-entrenched status quo. Far more than Senator McCain, you have received enormous, unprecedented contributions from corporate interests, Wall Street interests and, most interestingly, big corporate law firm attorneys. Never before has a Democratic nominee for President achieved this supremacy over his Republican counterpart. ...

Are Non Voters and Non McCain Voters Responsible if Obama is Elected? [Full Thread]

It is a simple question. Some people advocate not voting or voting third party. If you do that and Obama is elected and turns out to be a terrible dictator far worse then Bush. Are those people responsible for sitting on their hands and not voting? To a much lesser degree what about the thrid party voters. Would they have "wasted" their vote and come to regret it. Can we blame them for not voting McCain and at least trying to stop Obama. I suspect that if Obama is elected and these people who didn't vote may have some regret at some time in the future. Still undecided here. I guess I'll have to decide tomorrow.

Will White People Riot? [Full Thread]

Oct. 20, 2008--"Would black people riot if Sen. Barack Obama didn't win the election?" That was the question a white man in Memphis recently asked a racial reconciliation group with which I am involved. After five years of being a columnist for the daily paper in Memphis, I wasn't surprised by the absurdity of his query. Many whites still labor under the illusion that black folk act en masse and that if you ask the right one, you can get the official position of some 40 million people. If a few of us get angry, that logic allows, it must surely result in a riot. Riot because we didn't get our way? Please. Black people have more than their share of experience with ...

When Barack Obama began his candidacy for the White House 20 months ago, most Americans knew next to nothing about the young senator from Illinois, barely two years into his first term in federal office. After his performance in 2004, some Democratic activists had marked him as the best convention speaker since Ted Kennedy, Ann Richards or Mario Cuomo. Others had read his book "Dreams From My Father" and had declared him their finest literary talent since Ted Sorensen was ghostwriting for John F. Kennedy. Still others remarked on the fact that, unlike many of the party leaders in Washington, Obama had been prescient in his opposition to the U.S. attack on Iraq. But no one knew ...

Reality Overthrows “History’s Actors”

By Paul Craig Roberts  "We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do." Bush White House aide explaining the "New Reality"The New American Century lasted a decade. Financial crisis and defeated objectives in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Georgia brought the neoconservative project for American world hegemony crashing to a close in the autumn of 2008. The ...

Two Choices? Or Just One Choice: "More of the Same!"

On Tuesday Americans, coupled with increasing numbers of felons, illegals, and others not Constitutionally allowed to vote, go to the polls to select from one of two candidates, right? We are confronted with two choices, right? At least that's what they tell us in the media and drive down our throats. But you know, I find it odd. As I look over the sample ballots I find more than just Obama/Biden and McCain/Palin on the ballots. Odd since we apparently only have a choice between the two. So why is that? I see Baldwin/Castle, Barr/Root, Ralph Nader, Cynthia McKinney, and even some more. Granted, some of the others are somewhat obscure or even low-brow figures, at least one of whom also ...

Obama's Redistribution Scheme Bites Him In The Butt

In a local Leesburg restaurant my server had on a "Obama 08" tie, again I laughed as he had given away his political preference--just imagine the coincidence. When the bill came I decided not to tip the server and explained to him that I was exploring the Obama redistribution of wealth concept. He stood there in disbelief while I told him that I was going to redistribute his tip to someone who I deemed more in need--the homeless guy outside. The server angrily stormed from my sight. I went outside, gave the homeless guy $10 and told him to thank the server inside as I've decided he could use the money more. The homeless guy was grateful. At the end of my rather unscientific ...

On Wednesday’s “Special Report,” Fox News anchor Brit Hume cited CMI’s new study, “A Study in Character Assassanation: How the TV Networks Have Portrayed Sarah Palin as Dunce or Demon.” The study found that the media portrayal of Palin has been overwhelmingly negative, smearing the Alaska governor as an unqualified dunce or demonizing her as McCain’s attack dog. Hume stated: CMI PIECE: An analysis of two weeks of coverage of the GOP vice presidential nominee reveals unremitting hostility from the network news. Bad enough: The prospect of an Obama presidency. Sad enough: The only thing that can prevent it, apparently, is a McCain presidency. This is how we've come forward. From a confederation founded by such men as Washington, Madison, Morris, an Adams or three (although that buttinski John couldn't resist signing the grotesque first Alien and Sedition Act---nope, traducing the First Amendment didn't quite begin when Lame McCain and Rust Foolsgold wrote the campaign finance reform act and President Lips II---who'd huffed and puffed about its unconstitutionality aforehand, and rather pointedly, too---signed it---which pretty much put an end to his political career), to a nation ...

Halloween Costume Idea: Obama with a noose around his neck

As halloween approaches it is time to think about a costume. Recenltly I saw a hanging woman on a newssite. It was supposed to be Sarah Palin. Ok it is halloween so I suppose that is fair. But that got me thinking about costumes. I was thinking maybe an Obama mask with a noose around the neck. Any ideas on how to get the rope to stick up in the air instead of hanging down?

this is the disconnect between real gold and paper gold:.. COMEX gold is a form of debt. It involves one party promising to produce gold (money) to another at a future date. Like all forms of debt, a COMEX futures contract is only as good as the counterparty behind the contract. Right now, because of low margin requirements, sellers of gold futures only have enough gold to cover 10% of outstanding contracts stored in COMEX warehouses. Considering that the biggest sellers of gold futures contract are insolvent financial institutions, it is obvious that COMEX gold has enormous counterparty risks . If even a quarter of outstanding contracts asked for physical delivery, it would be enough to ...

STOCK MARKET EXPLAINED IN ONE EASY LESSON Once upon a time in a village, a man appeared and announced to the villagers that he would buy monkeys for $10 each. The villagers seeing that there were many monkeys around, went out to the forest, and started catching them. The man bought thousands at $10 and as supply started to diminish, the villagers stopped their effort. He further announced that he would now buy at $20. This renewed the efforts of the villagers and they started catching monkeys again. Soon the supply diminished even further and people started going back to their farms. The offer increased to $25 each and the supply of monkeys became so little that it was an effort to even ...

The Real Mark-to-Market by Takuan Seiyo Various level-headed economic pundits have opined that the $700 billion Bailout cannot possibly succeed. It rescues the gold-plated and wafer-thin layer of malefactors instead of growing jobs, income and solvency for the middle class. It’s too little, too late, and vastly too much, most of it wasted. And the Bailout approaches $2 trillion now. Except for dedicated pros, it’s impossible to keep tab on its total size anymore. It grows by several hundred billion dollars every week, in every sphere of economic activity. The latest at this time is a $150 billion tranche of jobless benefits, money for food stamps and a "tax rebate" - ...

In a recent editorial on this site, The Sandra Bernhard Monstrosity, the editors addressed the vicious attack on Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin, a practicing Christian mother of five. In essence, Ms. Bernhard, who is Jewish, called Palin a goy whore — certainly not an affectionate label. Quoting evolutionary psychologist Kevin MacDonald, the editorial zeroed in on the font of such hostility: “Indeed, hatred toward the peoples and cultures of non-Jews ... has been the Jewish norm throughout history . . . this sort of hostility to whites and to Christianity is a mainstream Jewish phenomenon.” Sadly, to any serious student of history, this appears to be a ...

What do Billy Graham, Nixon, and Webster Tarply have in common?

Answer: They were all CORRECT. Billy Graham, Nixon And Anti-Semitism by NYO Staff | March 10, 2002 Thirty years ago, the Reverend Billy Graham and President Richard Nixon sat in the Oval Office and spoke words that Mr. Graham surely never expected the world to hear. But it is unfortunate in some ways that, thanks to Nixon's penchant for audio tape, the conversation between the two close friends became public knowledge this month, when the National Archives released 500 hours of Nixon tapes. What was revealed was that the President and America's best-known evangelist shared a paranoid view that there existed a Jewish plot to dominate the American media. It's not news that ...

All he wanted was to talk to his representative about a political issue — something supposedly guaranteed by the First Amendment’s right to petition clause. True, being an activist with the Minutemen and wanting to discuss concerns over criminal illegal alien activity wasn’t exactly something he expected would resonate with Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY), but over the years, Gabriel Razzano had established a rapport with her chief of staff, who had even visited him at his home. Except there was now a new chief, Razzano found out when he paid a visit to McCarthy’s office. And he didn’t return calls. So Razzano returned to McCarthy’s office to make an appointment, ...
