Mitt’s 13% Tax By Robert Reich August 18, 2012 "Information Clearing House" --Mitt Romney says “every year I’ve paid at least 13 percent [of my income in taxes] and if you add in addition the amount that goes to charity, why the number gets well above 20 percent.” This is supposed to be in defense of not releasing his tax returns. Assume, for the sake of the argument, he’s telling the truth. Since when are charitable contributions added to income taxes when judging whether someone has paid his fair share? More to the point, Romney admits to an income of over $20 million a year for the last several decades. Which makes his 13 percent — or even 20 ...

Arab monarchies of Persian Gulf: Relics of barbarism, handwriting on the wall Anti-regime protesters stage rally in Saudi Arabia’s coastal town of Qatif on July 8, 2012. Anti-regime protesters stage rally in Saudi Arabia’s coastal town of Qatif on July 8, 2012. Sat Aug 18, 2012 2:6PM GMT 20 By Webster G. Tarpley The Arab monarchies that emerged under British auspices from the wreckage of the Ottoman Empire have always represented an anachronism, in sharp contradiction to the whole direction of modern history and human progress elsewhere in the world." Recent months have provided the world with a grotesque spectacle of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the other reactionary Arab ...

What was Hitler’s unforgivable sin?

Hitler resisted Judaism. When you’re a little kid in school or at the movies, resisting Judaism can be made to seem a very wicked thing. As an adult, you can be made to think that to resist Judaism is the very worst, the most dangerous thing. When you see what has happened to people who have resisted Judaism, well – you certainly don’t want that to happen to you. Adolf Hitler was, is and will always be the most dangerous character in history due to his resistance against Judaism combined with his eloquence in explaining why Judaism must be resisted. Some of us “Jew-fighters” have a personal motto, delenda est judaica, or Judaism must be destroyed. Or, Defense ...

Women, STEM, and D&D

Yesterday, I briefly mentioned the topic of women in the math and sciences. It’s well know that post-secondary education is predominantly female. It is also well known that this is not true of STEM fields, where women are a minority. Some chock this up to differences in intelligence or that women aren’t gifted at math. It’s not differences in overall intelligence, as the difference in average intelligence between men and women has always been small, and might even have reversed in the last few years. Even so, men have always held generally have held a small advantage in spatial reasoning and mathematical reasoning, but these differences are not great enough to account for ...

- Imagine Tea Party extremists seizing control of a South Carolina town and the Army being sent in to crush the rebellion. This farcical vision is now part of the discussion in professional military circles. At issue is an article in the respected Small Wars Journal titled “Full Spectrum Operations in the Homeland: A ‘Vision’ of the Future.” It was written by retired Army Col. Kevin Benson of the Army's University of Foreign Military and Cultural Studies at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., and Jennifer Weber, a Civil War expert at the University of Kansas. It posits an “extremist militia motivated by the goals of the ‘tea party’ movement” seizing ...

Was Barack Obama A Foreign Exchange Student?

Transparency: A former classmate has added a tantalizing question to the mysteries surrounding Barack Obama's college years. Perhaps the GOP nominee, whose tax records are demanded, should call the president's bluff. Not many students whose grades supposedly were good enough to get into Harvard Law School can say that 400 of their classmates taken randomly don't remember a single thing about him or his even being there. But Barack Obama, Columbia University class of '83, can. Student Obama spent two years at Columbia after transferring there from Occidental College in Los Angeles. And for all the impression he made on his classmates, he might as well have been in the ...

Gazillions. That’s the number of times that the federal government has spied on Americans since Sept. 11, 2001, through the use of drones, legal search warrants, illegal search warrants, federal agent-written search warrants, and just plain government spying. This is according to Sen. Rand Paul, Kentucky Republican, who, when he asked the government to tell him what it was doing to violate our privacy, was given a briefing that was classified. The senator — one of just a few in the U.S. Senate who believes that the Constitution means what it says — was required by federal law to agree not to reveal what spies and bureaucrats told him during the briefing in reply to his ...

Can Americans Escape the Deception? By Paul Craig Roberts Can Americans Escape the Deception? By Paul Craig Roberts Hot Air Day is upon us. On July 4, hot air will spew forth all over the country as dignitaries deliver homilies to our "freedom and democracy" and praise "our brave troops" who are protecting our freedom by "killing them over there before they come over here." Not a single one of these speeches will contain one word of truth. No speaker will lament the death of the US Constitution or urge his audience to action to restore the only document that protects their liberty. No speaker will acknowledge that in the 21st century the Bush/Obama ...

Have you taken time to read the entire "God Damn America" sermon? Or just listen to sound bites, it was an hour long sermon that detailed America's many lies that it tells to it's citizens. Covering lies against the blacks, Japanese Americans, and white America. Taken out of context, God Damn The United States by Rev Wright does sound traitorous. But what was Reverend Wright discussing? (The parentheses comments are mine - Timothy) "Confusing God and Government" "Where governments lie, God does not lie. Where governments change, God does not change."Wright states. "[The United States] government lied about their belief that all men were ...

Rubio’s Olympic Medal Bill Would Give Michael Phelps Hundreds Of Thousands Of Dollars In Tax Breaks By Travis Waldron posted from ThinkProgress Economy on Aug 3, 2012 at 6:35 pm Rubio's tax plan would give Michael Phelps a tax break for eating Subway. Americans for Tax Reform, the anti-tax group headed by activist Grover Norquist, caused a stir this week when it released a report detailing the supposed tax burden America’s Olympic athletes face on the prize money they receive for winning medals. The Olympians, ATR said, would owe “up to $9,000” in taxes on their medals and winnings, and that, the organization said, was a travesty — even though the money hardly ...

American Freefall by PAUL CRAIG ROBERTS Washington has been at war since October, 2001. This war took a back seat when Bush concocted another excuse to order the invasion of Iraq in 2003, a war that went on without significant success for 8 years and has left Iraq in chaos with dozens more killed and wounded every day, a new strong man in place of the illegally executed former strongman, and the likelihood of the ongoing violence becoming civil war. Upon his election, President Obama foolishly sent more troops to Afghanistan and renewed the intensity of that war, now in its eleventh year, to no successful effect. These two wars have been expensive. According to estimates by Joseph ...

Yet the overriding story of the past few years is not Mr. Obama’s mistakes but the scorched-earth opposition of Republicans, who have done everything they can to get in his way — and who now, having blocked the president’s policies, hope to win the White House by claiming that his policies have failed.
