Brewing a Conflict with China By Paul Craig Roberts May 01, 2012 "Information Clearing House" -- Washington has pressured the Philippines, whose government it owns, into conducting joint military exercises in the South China Sea. Washington’s excuse is that China has territorial disputes with the Philippines, Indonesia, and other countries concerning island and sea rights in the South China Sea. Washington asserts that China’s territorial disputes with the like of Indonesia and the Philippines are a matter of United States’ national interests. Washington has not made it clear what Washington’s stake is in the disputes. The reason Washington cannot identify ...

So what is keeping us from rebelling? Honestly at this point shouldn't we be getting our local boys and starting off on local scales to kick out the corrupt city locals and start working our way up through municipal, state and onto federal levels of change.... They cheat. We will never have justice under this system. The current system will only see us as subjects to be ruled rather than citizens in control of their own destiny. So what is holding us back from rebelling against this foul system of government????

The inequality that ate American democracy We can all expect to lose because economics (and inequality) guides and trumps politics, says author. Although activists have spoken out, the inequality gap in the USA is becoming deeply institutionalised at a time when America has its most nominally progressive president in decades [AFP] New York, NY - In July of 1936, Langston Hughes, the great black American poet first published in Esquire some lines that have never been forgotten. Among them was this: "Let America Be America Again", a salute to the American dream that had, until then, left poorer Americans and minorities behind. So memorable was his phrasing that, in 2004, John ...

In the early morning hours of April 2, federal agents of the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the IRS, in full battle gear, swept down on 1600 Broadway in Oakland, CA and did the unthinkable: they closed a school. When the Feds left later that same day (under the protection of the local Oakland Police Department), they carted away several office computers, file cabinets, and dozens of marijuana plants. Oaksterdam University had been operating legally in Oakland since 2007. The brainchild of entrepreneur Richard Lee, Oaksterdam was a trade school of sorts whose part-time professional faculty provided educational services that detailed the science, law, and commercial opportunities ...

Oh to one day join the ranks of the “professional class”; that 5% to 10% of our culture which enjoys unparalleled respect and an assumed position of knowledge, so much so that they are rarely even required to qualify themselves to anyone besides their own compatriots. Since the end of the Cold War, America has been on a relentless search for enemies. I don't mean a search in the sense of ferreting them out and defeating them. Statement to the Subcommittee on Domestic Monetary Policy Hearing on "The Future of Money: Coin Production," April 17, 2012. There is an old German saying that goes, "whoever does not respect the penny is not worthy of the dollar." It expresses the sense that those who neglect or ignore the small things cannot be trusted with larger things, and fittingly describes the problems facing both the dollar and our nation today. For nearly a century monetary policy has been delegated to the Federal Reserve System. Congress has ignored the importance of monetary policy and relegated monetary oversight to the sidelines, considering it less important than such matters as welfare ...

The IRS already has all your financial information, and could theoretically just send you a bill every April for what you owe It's tax day, and as procrastinators across the nation scurry to file their returns, they might be forgiven for wondering, "Why isn't the government doing this for me?" In the more hopeful days of 2008, then-candidate Barack Obama promised to "dramatically simplify tax filings so that millions of Americans will be able to do their taxes in less than five minutes." Obama's proposal bore similarities to California's ReadyReturn program, in which the state sends residents their completed returns, listing the amount they owe or the ...

T As the US and Europe confront Iran in talks about its nuclear programme, the diplomatic tensions between Iran and Israel remain at boiling point, with threats of an attack on the Islamic Republic by the Jewish state. And there is one expression that is continuously invoked by the Israeli leadership in order to justify its claims that Iran is an existential threat.
