But I doubt that one in 10 British people has any idea of what the Corporation of the City of London is and how it works. This could be about to change. Alongside the Church of ...

Courts Split on Right to Carry Firearms Outside the Home

Unquestionably the hottest issue in Second Amendment litigation today is whether the Second Amendment protects a right to carry firearms outside the home for personal protection—and if so, what might be the limits on that right. Until recently, far too many courts have wrongly claimed that because the Supreme Court’s decisions in District of Columbia v. Heller and McDonald v. City of Chicago only struck down bans on handgun possession in the home, that’s all there is to the Second Amendment. Now, there are signs that this resistance is weakening. In a big win for gun owners’ rights in Maryland, on March 5, a federal judge ruled in the case of Woollard v. Sheridan that a ...

NYPD Infiltrated Liberal Political Groups, According To New Documents By MATT APUZZO and ADAM GOLDMAN 03/23/12 09:26 AM ET AP NEW YORK — Undercover NYPD officers attended meetings of liberal political organizations and kept intelligence files on activists who planned protests around the country, according to interviews and documents that show how police have used counterterrorism tactics to monitor even lawful activities. The infiltration echoes the tactics the NYPD used in the run-up to New York's 2004 Republican National Convention, when police monitored church groups, anti-war organizations and environmental advocates nationwide. That effort was revealed by The New York Times ...

Robertson, Rockefeller, and Prohibition by Don Boudreaux on March 19, 2012 Here’s a letter to the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal: Dismayed at Rev. Pat Robertson’s call to legalize marijuana, Nelson Spear objects that “I have not encountered anyone whose success in life was enhanced by the use of marijuana or any other recreational drug. On the other hand, I have encountered hundreds whose lives were decimated by the use of marijuana” (Letters, March 18). Indeed. But the same is true for alcohol – another drug that ruins many lives and contributes to no one’s “success in life.”* In a move very similar to Mr. Robertson’s, John D. Rockefeller, Jr. ...

After Backing Anti-Birth Control Blunt Amendment, McCain Now Says GOP Needs To ‘Get Off’ War On Women By Ian Millhiser on Mar 18, 2012 at 11:36 am Earlier this week, an Arizona state senate committee backed a “tell your boss why you’re on the pill bill” that would allow employers to demand proof that their employees are not using birth control for contraceptive purposes before their insurance will cover the pills. In an interview on Meet The Press this morning, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) slammed this assault on working women, and even urged his fellow Republicans to finally end their lengthy war on women’s reproductive health: GREGORY: Are you concerned at all ...

Mitt Romney and the lure of neo-imperialism Mitt Romney's stance on Iran is nothing new, but his embracement of neo-imperialist foreign policy is worrying. Mitt Romney sees himself in a role analogous to that of Ronald Reagan [GALLO/GETTY] Washington, DC - It would be easy to dismiss Mitt Romney's Washington Post op-ed of this past week regarding US policy towards Iran as yet more self-serving blather in a political season already rife with it. No doubt, many who read the Republican presidential candidate's harsh criticism of President Obama's Iran policy were inclined to think so, and there were many obvious reasons why they should. First was the former Massachusetts ...

Hunger: The Real Irish American Story Not Taught in Schools By Bill Bigelow March 15, 2012 "Huffington Post' -- "Wear green on St. Patrick's Day or get pinched." That pretty much sums up the Irish American "curriculum" that I learned when I was in school. Yes, I recall a nod to the so-called Potato Famine, but it was mentioned only in passing. Sadly, today's high school textbooks continue to largely ignore the famine, despite the fact that it was responsible for unimaginable suffering and the deaths of more than a million Irish peasants, and that it triggered the greatest wave of Irish immigration in U.S. history. Nor do textbooks make any attempt to ...

Greg Smith, the executive director and head of Goldman Sachs’s United States equity derivatives business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, not only decided to quit Goldman, he decided to do it in the New York Times, eloquently deconstructing the firm’s moral slide in a lengthy op-ed piece. The essence of Smith’s piece is devastating. He points to one simple, specific problem in the company: the fact that Goldman routinely screws its own clients. Anyone ...

How to pay yourself to $21 per hour to smoke
Post Date: 2012-03-12 10:00:10 by PSUSA2

Suppose you smoke one pack per day. 365 packs divided by 10 = 37 cartons. The average price per carton in my area is $45. That is $1665 per year. You will pay more if you buy them by the pack. But I'll use the carton price. Now, if you make your own: 1 lb = $10 = mild pipe tobacco. You will get more than 2 cartons out of 1 lb, but I won't count the extra. Consider it a bonus. A years supply @ 1 pack per day is 19 lbs = $190 A cartons worth of tubes = $4. A years supply of tubes = $148 TOTAL COST = $338 Total SAVINGS = $1327 It takes me 10 minutes of lackadaisical effort to make a pack. So a years worth in time is (10x365)/60 is 60 hours per year. For each hour you make ...

Conspirators' Theories: In their own words www.proliberty.com/observer/20011211.htm Conspiracy theories abound in our modern society. That's easy to understand. There are many organized efforts to deprive us, individually and collectively, of our lives, liberties and property. Those who “believe” in conspiracy theories often find themselves socially demonized as whackos on the lunatic fringe. This is natural. Most people prefer not to think, and avoid anyone who makes their little world uncomfortable with thoughts about conspiracies. And those who are actually engaged in such conspiracies often demonize the messenger in an effort to avoid being exposed. Conspiracy is an ...
