Does ANYONE here not have "out of wedlock" kids in your family or extended family? How has this harmed society?

Is marriage irrelevant? I think definitely not. This planned breakdown of society is very tragic. The first generation of this accepted trend of kids without marriage, at least (generally) had financially stable married parents to help w/ the grandkids. Poster Comment:The next generation (the kids who were born out of wedlock) now has even less familial stability, parents with divorces, exs, halves, steps, financial woes, misery. THEIR kids are much worse off than even they were. Good grief make it stop.

GOP Jerk’s Wife Withholds Sex Because Of Transvaginal Ultrasound Bill by Kaia Mursi 8:41 pm February 24, 2012 671 Comments 10270 Views Dave Albo is a Republican in the Virginia House of Delegates whose wife decided against sexing him — in flagrante delicto, apparently! — once she heard, on the teevee news accompanying their intercourse, about the creepy transvaginal ultrasound bill Dave’s party was pushing last week. Thanks to Wonkette commenter “UnholyMoses,” we can all enjoy Albo’s first-person account of the unexpected interruptus of his coitus. Albo used the House’s weekly comedy open mic not only to relate his charming tale of conjugal visitry ...

Despicable is Hillary Clinton 26.02.2012 Despicable is Hillary Clinton. 46685.jpeg Hillary Clinton is an interesting case study. She started four years ago as a charming Secretary of State, the smile on the snout to wipe out the snarl of her predecessor, Condoleezza Rice and four years on, she appears on camera butch, a trucker-type probably complete with tattoos, insolent, inconsequential and incompetent. We now understand Bill. What happened to Hillary Clinton? Her credentials for the position of Secretary of State were never that great; let us be honest: someone who lied on camera for all to see about getting off an aircraft in the middle of a war zone in Bosnia in the 1990s when in ...

The causes of the protests in Afghanistan By Glenn Greenwald (updated below) Most American media accounts and commentary about the ongoing violent anti-American protests in Afghanistan depict their principal cause as anger over the burning of Korans (it’s just a book: why would people get violent over it?) — except that Afghans themselves keep saying things like this: Protesters in Kabul interviewed on the road and in front of Parliament said that this was not the first time that Americans had violated Afghan cultural and religious traditions and that an apology was not enough. “This is not just about dishonoring the Koran, it is about disrespecting our dead and killing ...

DON EMMERT/AFP/Getty Images How about that race for the Republican nomination? Was last night's debate crazy, or what? Throughout this entire process, the spectacle of these clowns thrashing each other and continually seizing and then fumbling frontrunner status has left me with an oddly reassuring feeling, one that I haven't quite been able to put my finger on. In my younger days I would have just assumed it was regular old Schadenfreude at the sight ...

Late Night FDL: Holier Than Thou By: cocktailhag Thursday February 23, 2012 8:00 pm (photo: dbking/wikimedia) Probably the most convenient thing about turning one’s political party into a something closer to a religion, as the Republicans have increasingly done, is that your adherents can be relied upon to believe anything you say, no matter how implausible, provably false, or downright cuckoo it happens to be. When you’re talking about a religion, after all, the more improbable the belief is, the more fervently it is held, and for Republicans this tendency is always a bonus, for good reason. If you intend to mobilize people to accept that God wants us to, say, let old people ...

Is Obama a hypocrite or merely insouciant? Or is he an idiot? According to news reports Obama’s White House meeting on Valentine’s day with China’s Vice President, Xi Jinping, provided an opportunity for Obama to raise “a sensitive human rights issue with the Chinese leader-in-waiting.” The brave and forthright Obama didn’t let etiquette or decorum get in his way. Afterwards, Obama declared that Washington would “continue to emphasize what we believe is the importance of realizing the aspirations and rights of all people.” Think about that for a minute. Washington is now in the second decade of murdering Muslim men, women, and children in six ...

The purpose of the raids ...

Kimberly Schneider said in a statement. “The arrest was the culmination of a lengthy and extensive operation,” the statement continued. “At no time was the public or Congressional community in any danger.”[...] Local ...

How the Banksters Got Away With the Biggest Crime of the Century By Richard Clark (about the author) http://opednews.com What follows is based largely on a report by Robert Scheer. That Lawrence Summers, a president emeritus of Harvard, is a consummate distorter of fact and logic is not a revelation. That he and Bill Clinton, the president he served as treasury secretary, can still get away with disclaiming responsibility for our financial meltdown is an insult to reason. Summers, like Clinton, still defends the reversal of the 1933 Glass-Steagall Act, a 1999 repeal that destroyed the wall between investment and commercial banking put into place by Franklin Roosevelt in response to the ...

The Problem Children Having the instinctual drive that lends itself to survival, humans have persisted through the ages. This drive compels humans to gather food, water and shelter. Along the way over the millenia during trying times of war or environmental challenges those that had an exaggerated instinct of collecting the resources necessity for survival survived those times and passed on that trait to their progeny. Of that group due to varying degrees of any genetic trait there were some with even greater aberrations of the human drive to prepare for future scarcity. This threat of scarcity has been a common experience of human kind since our inception. It has driven a segment of ...

Walt Friday, February 3, 2012 - 4:27 PM Share The drumbeats for war with Iran keep pounding, as you can read about here and here. There are some features of the campaign that are scarily (or maybe comically) reminiscent of 2002-2003 (as Glenn Greenwald documents here), but for now there's one key difference. Back in 2002, the neocon-heavy Bush administration led the charge to sell the invasion of Iraq. Today, by contrast, the case for war is being made primarily by other countries (i.e., ...

It has to be seen to be believed. It’s a perfect museum exhibit for how empty-headed American media ...

BPA's Obesity And Diabetes Link Strengthened By New Study The modern lifestyle of super-sized french fries and couch potatoes often takes the blame for the rising rates of obesity and diabetes in the U.S. -- perhaps rightly so. But growing evidence suggests another factor in the dual epidemics: modern chemicals. Exposure to even minuscule amounts of synthesized substances -- used in everything from pesticides to water bottles -- can scramble hormone signals, scientists say. This interference can trick fat cells into taking in more fat or mislead the pancreas into secreting excess insulin, a hormone that regulates the breakdown of fat and carbohydrates. Among the most ubiquitous and ...
