Corporations and Corporatism - A Review of “Unequal Protection” Post Date: 2012-02-14 11:39:03 by Hogeye Bill

Corporations and Corporatism - A Review of Unequal Protection Corporations are under political scrutiny again, as they have been periodically in American history. Also under examination is corporatism, the alliance between large favored firms and central government. While corporatism is easy to define - the collusion between politically connected firms and State - defining corporation is a little more difficult. This is because the word can refer to a broad category of human associations. In its broadest sense, a corporation is an artificial person representing an association, which has certain legal rights that a natural person has. In ...

Last Modified: 10 Feb 2012 21:44 i Women successfully campaigned against Komen's decision to pull funding from Planned Parenthood [GALLO/GETTY] Columbus, OH - Perhaps over the past week you've heard of the foundation named after Susan G Komen? You know the folks I'm talking about, the ones who have turned breast cancer fundraising into a non-stop Nike-like branding campaign that translates into helpful suggestions, like how you should chomp down on the extra crispy bucket of Kentucky Fried Chicken to fight cancer (get heart ...

Matthew Cassel Last Modified: 13 Feb 2012 17:09 inShare19 Bahrain's rulers are denying entry to foreign observers, preventing them from covering protests [Mazen Mahdi/EPA] In January, Brian Dooley, of the US-based organisation Human Rights First, was preparing for his fourth trip back to Bahrain since the uprising began in February 2011. Dooley told Al Jazeera that he had never previously had any problems entering the country. "About a week before I was going, I got a letter saying: 'Do not come,'" Dooley said. Al ...

5 Right-Wing Governors Gutting Schools to Fund Prisons, Tax Breaks for the Rich...And a Bible Theme Park By Sarah Jaffe February 12, 2012 "AlterNet" -- It's budget time again, and with the economy still in rough shape, that means it's time for governors to show where their priorities are. It's probably not surprising that right-wing governors claim they can't fund education properly when revenues are lowwe've been seeing this happen for years, even before an actual economic crisis knocked states sideways. But cutting funds to schools isn't the only option for states even if they do have to balance their budgets. There are many other places to ...

The United States is going broke every second of the day, with the national debt now hitting $16.2 trillion annually and no real government plan in place to stop the runaway train. That's right. Despite all the huffing and puffing about the deficit, there is no long-term plan to cut the deficit. Congress' Super Deficit Reduction Committee failed in its task in November to arrive at a consensus, forcing a string of automatic cuts to go into motion, including major reductions to military spending during the next decade. It was stupid. Yes, billions of dollars in military spending is on the chopping block yet no one knows where the cuts will be made and what impact they will have on ...

> Who Castrated Ann Coulter? By David Catron There is no conservative writer that I admire more than Ann Coulter. She's smart as hell and, more importantly, she is courageous. She has always been willing to write what other conservatives believe but don't have the guts to say in print. She has never played it safe and has certainly never adjusted her opinions for the sake of conforming to the conventional wisdom of Old Guard Republicans. In 2008, for example, she declared that she would not merely vote for, but actively campaign for Hillary Clinton if the Republican Party were foolish enough to nominate John McCain for President: "If you are looking at substance rather than ...

Did the caucus. Ron Paul in my district took 61 percent of the vote. Two friends of mine said the same, Ron was kicking serious ass all over the state. If I hear Romney, or Scrotor wins, I will demand a recount because we have a lot of representation going to the polls, and they are going there for Ron Paul.

It Takes Courage to Leave the GOP Cult Post Date: 2012-02-07 01:10:38 by Original_Intent

The GOP is not a political party. It is a crime syndicate, to be sure, but also evinces characterisitcs of a kooky cult. I say that based upon my experience as a young man who got an education from 'inside the GOP'. I consulted them but stopped for reasons of conscience. I can relate to comments by John P. Judis, who chose to leave the cult. "Over the last four decades, the Republican Party has transformed from a loyal opposition into an insurrectionary party that flouts the law when it is in the majority and threatens disorder when it is the minority. It is the party of Watergate and Iran-Contra, but also of the government shutdown in 1995 and the impeachment trial of 1999. ...

U.S. Can Not Avoid Coming Economic Collapse No Matter What! Heres Why Michael Snyder If the government suddenly started spending only the money that it actually brought in every year, our economy would be doomed and all of this false prosperity would rapidly disappear
[but conversely,] if the U.S. government continues to rack up debt at this pace we are doomed. In fact, every dollar that gets borrowed makes our eventual collapse ever worse. We are heading down the exact same road that Greece has gone. Eventually the rest of the world is not going to lend us gigantic mountains of super cheap money anymore. When the flow of cheap money stops, ...

The use of encryption is also listed as a suspicious activity along with steganography, the practice of using software to hide encrypted data ...

FOUNTAIN HILLS, Ariz. Dina Galassini does not seem to pose a threat to Arizonas civic integrity. But the government of this desert community believes that you cannot be too careful. And state law empowers local governments to be vigilant against the lurking danger that political speech might occur before the speakers notify the government and comply with all the speech rules. Last October, Galassini became annoyed like many Ron Paul supporters, she is easily annoyed by government about the citys plan to augment its spending with a $29.6 million bond issue, to be voted on by mail by Nov. 8. On Oct. 6, she sent e-mails to 23 friends and acquaintances, urging them ...

So today I was watching the news. Something curious about how each, and every single news station said the exact same thing about Mittens winning Florida. Word for Word, sentence for sentence, the exact, same, thing. I used to think it was just on the cable channels, but I watched 11 different news casts, and each, and every one of them said the exact same thing about how Romney needed to win big, by a landslide or whatever. Then I noticed something else that was also quite curious. In the last 2 weeks or so, I have not seen ONE shot of the crowds where Santorum, Gingrich, or Romney are at. It's always a close in shot, with maybe a couple people behind them up to let's say a ...

Newt Gingrich, On Eve Of Likely Florida Loss, Unleashes Wild Attacks On Mitt Romney TAMPA, Fla. -- Meet Newt Gingrich, the human Roman Candle. Gingrich and Mitt Romney on Monday staggered to the end of a brutal week of campaigning in Florida, one in which they took increasingly nasty and personal shots at one another. But the day marked a new level of angry and relentless attacks on Romney by Gingrich, the former House speaker from Georgia. From morning until the last of five events at the end of the day, Gingrich branded Romney a liar and cheat, accusing him of suppressing religious liberty and trying to "buy the election." The strain of the nastiness showed on both men. ...
