Farmer hides castle from building inspectors [Full Thread] Post Date: 2008-01-26 00:23:39 by Dakmar

LONDON (Reuters) - A farmer built an entire mock castle behind a screen of hay bales and lived there concealed for four years to evade planning regulations, officials said on Friday -- but it may be torn down anyway. Robert Fidler hopes to take advantage of a provision of planning law that allows buildings without planning permission to be declared legal if no objections have been made after four years But Reigate and Banstead Borough Council in Surrey is not impressed. "It does not count because the property was hidden behind hay bales," said a spokeswoman. "No one knew it was there." The council wants the building near Redhill some 30 km south of London to be ...

LODI, Calif. - Shoplifting is all in the family for one California clan, police say. A grandmother, her daughter and some of her grandchildren tried to steal $900 worth of merchandise from a Target store in Lodi, 35 miles south of Sacramento, police Officer Misty Smith said. The family's alleged shoplifting spree earlier this week was captured by surveillance video, which police say showed them cutting open boxes and hiding MP3 players, digital cameras, DVDs, jewelry and sports equipment in purses, bags and a backpack. An 8-year-old and a 5-year-old were among the family members detained. "The 5-year-old actually had a pack of gum. A small item but we could see where her life ...

Dog walks into a bar and orders a drink. Bartender says, "We don't serve dogs here," pulls a pistol and bam! shoots the dog in a hind foot. The dog hops howling out of the bar holding his foot. Next day, dog walks back into the bar, dressed in a cowboy outfit, ten-gallon hat, a six-gun on each hip. Everyone looks at him and falls silent. Dog looks around at everyone and says, "I'm lookin' for the man who shot my paw."

Freedom run [Repeat]
No break through,
I steal for you.
I need ya,
and there's nothing you can do, yeah.
Walked hundred miles of desert sun,
to grasp the chance that I'll be gone,
be one with you, yeah.
Freedom run [x3]
Well I'll break through,
Well I steal for you.
Well I need ya,
and there's nothing you can do, yeah.
No form in past
I hope you last.
You're in my grasp
I loved you ohS yeah yeah...

His show is on soon on Travel Channel, when he visits Vancouver, a great food town, and he is on Sound Opinions, on NPR, to talk about food and punk rock, on Friday night. If you don't know him, he wrote the best book on what you should know about even expensive restaurants (They do spit on food and their fish is old and rank by Sunday) and he loves the Ramones. And he was a heroin addict, but still one of the best chefs in the world. Diggit.

SANTIAGO An 81-year old man in the small Chilean village of Angol shocked his grieving relatives by waking up in his coffin at his own wake, local media said on Sunday. When Feliberto Carrasco's family members discovered his body limp and cold, they were convinced that the octogenarian's hour had come, so they immediately called a funeral home, not a doctor. Carrasco was dressed in his finest suit for the wake, and his relatives gathered to bid him a final farewell. "I couldn't believe it. I thought I must be mistaken, and I shut my eyes," Carrasco's nephew Pedro told the daily Ultimas Noticias. "When I opened them again, my uncle was looking at ...

Colbert goes 'mano a mano' with Lou Dobbs Post Date: 2008-01-19 12:39:14 by robin

Colbert goes 'mano a mano' with Lou Dobbs by Frank James Stephen Colbert just keeps us laughing. His "interview" with Lou Dobbs last night was hilarious. Colbert took on the role of Esteban Colberto, the host of a Spanish-language version of the Colbert Report. "Colberto" is clearly playing off an old interview with Dobbs. The men weren't in the same studio at the same time. Three giveaways: You never see the two men in the same shot. Then there's a continuity problem. Hint: Look at "Colberto's" left hand when the camera is on him, then look at it when he's shown from behind in one of the first cutaway shots. Also, Dobb's ...

Poster Comment:For Bobby. "Glósóli" [Èglou:Ìsoulj] (Icelandic for "Glowing sole") is a song by Sigur Rós, released as part of their 2005 album Takk... Together with Sæglópur it was the first single released from the album, available as a download only release on iTunes in America and Europe respectively. The name is a combination of gló- from the verb að glóa meaning "to glow, shine, glitter" and sóli meaning "sole." The second element of the name, sóli, is homonymous with a declension of the word for "sun", sól. However, sól, being a feminine ...

A young blonde woman in New York was so depressed that
she decided to end her life by throwing herself into
the East River. She went down to the docks and was
about to leap into the frigid water when a handsome
young sailor saw her on the edge of the pier, crying.
He took pity on her and said, "Look, you have so
much to live for. I'm Off to Hawaii in the morning,
and if you like, I can stow you away on my ship.
I'll take good care of you and bring you food every day."
Moving closer, he slipped his arm around her shoulder
and added, "I'll keep you happy, and you'll keep me
happy." The girl nodded yes After all, what did she
have to lose? Perhaps a Fresh ...

THE FUTURE OF COITUSLife-Long Loving with a SexbotBy Philip Bethge
Sexbots have been around forever, but they are getting smarter all the time. David Levy, an artificial intelligence expert, sees a future when people will prefer robots to humans. They will offer, he says, better sex and better relationships.
Andy, whose measurements are 101-56-86 centimeters (40-22-34 inches), has what many men want in a woman: "unlimited patience." At least that's what the manufacturer, a company called First Androids based in Neumarkt near the southern German city of Nürnberg, promises. Andy also comes with options, including a "blowjob system, with adjustable levels," a "tangible pulse," ...
