Why do people believe in conspiracy theories? [Full Thread] Post Date: 2007-08-12 16:58:58 by YertleTurtle

Vincent Bugliosi's remarkable 20-year work on who killed John F. Kennedy has just been published. Containing about a million and a half words and thousands of footnotes, "Reclaiming History" is probably the most detailed examination of one moment in time ever written. It reconfirms that a man named Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in killing the American president. As one who never doubted the original U.S. government report that Oswald acted alone, I am deeply grateful to Bugliosi for the service he has rendered our country. But I also regret that he had to. Why did he have to? Because it was necessary to definitively refute all those who believe, despite bipartisan government ...

A country that does the same thing. We often hear American politicians and commentators reciting a list of terrorist acts committed against the United States. It typically includes the 1982 bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut, the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, the 1996 bombing of U.S. Air Force housing in Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia, the 1998 ...

Printer Friendly PDF Format Subscribe to FFF Email Update Subscribe to Freedom Daily DONATE TO FFF Must History Always Repeat Itself? by Gary Barnett, June 6, 2007 Some comparisons are just too tough to stomach, but the time has come to stomach one of them just the same. The United States has become the opposite of what was intended by our Founding Fathers. It is now not free, but rather sunk in dictatorial morass. What has become of us Americans? Why are we so weak as a people? Why do we not stand up for justice, right, and freedom, and against big, omnipotent government? And why do we allow our freedom and liberty to be systematically taken from us? I recently read a spellbinding ...

Poster Comment:Threw away two pairs of my shoes, saying she wouldn't be seen in public with me wearing them. They were the kind of sneakers with the Velcro straps. I thought they were rather cool; she threw them away where I couldn't find them. She threw away all my underwear, the kind these days called "tighty-whities." What I found instead were a dozen pairs of boxers-briefs. Refused to get in my 2000 Chevy Cavalier, saying it was a "horrible car" and she was going to have it towed off and crushed into a cube. She did relent, after she bought about $30 worth of cleaning supplies and spent two hours cleaning it with a scrubbrush. I told her the car was just ...

Poster Comment:When I was 16 one of my friends had a Sea Snark sailboat, which his parents had gotten by sending in about 500 coupons from the backs of Kool cigarettes. This boat was made of styrofoam, had a plastic sail, and a plywood rudder. Three of us would get in it and were actually able to make the wind catch the sail and propell us across the lake. How this thing supported 500 pounds without breaking in half is beyond me, but it did.

Caught this act on Conan... I liked the live version better, but this is good. It's a throwback sound (or do we say retro?) .. Thought of a little BBKing/Lou Rawls sort of feel. It's easy to learn the words here.. ;)

I hardly ever watch TV, and have never seen any of those reality shows. But last night, after hearing so many good things about "Masters of Science Fiction," I decided to watch it. I suspect some of it went over the audience's head. The plot was about a psychiatrist treating a man who had lost most of his memory, and kept confabulating. She suggested he had Korsakov's. Korsakov's only occurs among long-term alcoholics. It turned out the man was President, and had started a "pre-emptive" nuclear war to "save democracy." He had destroyed the world, and there were only about 850 people left, living in a cavern about 3000 feet underground. The ...

1. Getting angry at us for not reading your mind is like getting angry at yourself for not being able to fly. It's not just futile, it's physically impossible. 2. Yes, we do think Jessica Alba is hot. Sometimes we're even dumb enough to admit it. 3. Don't ask us to understand your shoe fetish. Asking us to respect it is even sort of pushing it. 4. You do look good without makeup, just not as good as you look with it. 5. Ever notice how we don't fight with our male friends? That's why we get so frustrated when we fight with you. 6. You care what you're wearing infinitely more than we do. In fact, if you're naked when you open the front door, you won't ...
