Make a Sentence Children were called upon in a classroom to make sentences with words chosen by the teacher. The teacher smiled when Jack raised his hand to participate. She gave him the words 'defeat,' 'deduct,' 'defense,' and 'detail.' Jack stood seriously for a while with all eyes focused on him awaiting his reply: ''Defeat of deduct went over defense before detail!''

Ba Ba Black Sheep Clem pulled over the car by the side of the road and showed Jed where he'd first had sex. "It was right down there by that tree. I remember the day plainly. It was a warm summer day. She and I were so much in love. We walked down to the tree and made love for hours," Clem recalled. "That sounds wonderful," said Jed. "Yes. It was okay until I looked up and noticed her mother was standing right there watching us." "Oh my God! What did her mother say when she saw you making love to her daughter?" "Baaaaa..."

Wearing your anatomy on your skin: the anatomy tattoo gallery

Wearing your anatomy on your skin: the anatomy tattoo gallery August 8, 2007 in Anatomy in Art I personally don’t have any tattoos. I just haven’t found that one piece of art that I can live with for the rest of my life. I do appreciate them however. So I decided to look for people who were passionate enough about anatomy to actually have a piece tattooed on themselves. Here are some of the interesting specimens I found. Enjoy! It would have been nice to have had the brachial plexus tattooed on my body for those difficult anatomy exams. Or my arm musculature… [via worse things happen at… from Flickr] [via dubitable from Flickr] [via ehernandez87 from Flickr] ...

Jon Stewart: Bush says 'in other words' a lot because we're all so dumb

On Thursday's Daily Show, Jon Stewart showed a clip of President Bush responding to a question about criticism from Neil Cavuto of Fox News by saying, "I've been around long enough to be able to understand how it works. Nobody likes to be called names. On the other there's -- we've got a bigger enemy than name-callers. That's al-Qaeda. Or people losing jobs." "Oh, my god!" screamed Stewart. "We're now fighting al Qaeda and the unemployed! They're everywhere!" Stewart then showed Bush telling Cavuto, "I mean, if bridges -- if rebuilding bridges is that big a priority, then we ought to prioritize that in the highway monies that ...

A scary assault on civil liberties

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007 A scary assault on civil liberties By Lance Dickie As historians tally the incompetence, profligacy and lawless opacity of the Bush administration, a shorthand is already emerging: Katrina, Iraq, Guantanamo, Abu Ghraib, signing statements and epic debt. Each reference speaks volumes. Another topic may soon head the list: FISA, surveillance or domestic spying. A word or two will settle into the political lexicon to symbolize an assault on civil liberties by an administration with an aggressive disregard for the law. We will be haunted by this for generations. Congress gave the White House permission to eavesdrop without warrants on international telephone calls ...

Vincent Bugliosi's remarkable 20-year work on who killed John F. Kennedy has just been published. Containing about a million and a half words and thousands of footnotes, "Reclaiming History" is probably the most detailed examination of one moment in time ever written. It reconfirms that a man named Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in killing the American president. As one who never doubted the original U.S. government report that Oswald acted alone, I am deeply grateful to Bugliosi for the service he has rendered our country. But I also regret that he had to. Why did he have to? Because it was necessary to definitively refute all those who believe, despite bipartisan government ...

Printer Friendly PDF Format Subscribe to FFF Email Update Subscribe to Freedom Daily DONATE TO FFF Why They Hate Us by Sheldon Richman, June 27, 2007 What’s more obnoxious than a person who constantly whines about the injustices committed against him while ignoring his own injustices against others? A country that does the same thing. We often hear American politicians and commentators reciting a list of “terrorist” acts committed against the “United States.” It typically includes the 1982 bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut, the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, the 1996 bombing of U.S. Air Force housing in Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia, the 1998 ...

Printer Friendly PDF Format Subscribe to FFF Email Update Subscribe to Freedom Daily DONATE TO FFF Must History Always Repeat Itself? by Gary Barnett, June 6, 2007 Some comparisons are just too tough to stomach, but the time has come to stomach one of them just the same. The United States has become the opposite of what was intended by our Founding Fathers. It is now not free, but rather sunk in dictatorial morass. What has become of us Americans? Why are we so weak as a people? Why do we not stand up for justice, right, and freedom, and against big, omnipotent government? And why do we allow our freedom and liberty to be systematically taken from us? I recently read a spellbinding ...

I thought they were rather cool; she threw them away where I couldn't find them. She threw away all my underwear, the kind these days called "tighty-whities." What I found instead were a dozen pairs of boxers-briefs. Refused to get in my 2000 Chevy Cavalier, saying it was a "horrible car" and she was going to have it towed off and crushed into a cube. She did relent, after she bought about $30 worth of cleaning supplies and spent two hours cleaning it with a scrubbrush. I told her the car was just ...

The Sailboat I Had as a Kid

Poster Comment:When I was 16 one of my friends had a Sea Snark sailboat, which his parents had gotten by sending in about 500 coupons from the backs of Kool cigarettes. This boat was made of styrofoam, had a plastic sail, and a plywood rudder. Three of us would get in it and were actually able to make the wind catch the sail and propell us across the lake. How this thing supported 500 pounds without breaking in half is beyond me, but it did.
