Blindness by The Fall (that Mitsubishi Song) Post Date: 2007-01-24 20:43:29 by Mekons4

Ever wonder what that cool song for Mitsubishi is? Why, it's Blindness, by the Fall, from their 2006 album FALL HEADS ROLL. Not a great record, buy their The Real Fall Album or the soon to come Reformation Post TLC, two great records. Of their many others, Grotesque is billiant. In fact, almost all their (legit) albums are...however, there are a lot of crap CDs out there consisting of outtakes and unfiltered live stuff, released without permission on various labels due to an unfortunate contract signed in 1990 or so. Anyway, without further ado, the lyrics to Blindness. (No video available, unless you really want to see an ad that probably haunts your dreams by now...) The flag is ...

Husband and wife are sitting quietly in bed reading when the wife looks over at him and asks the question. WIFE: "What would you do if I died? Would you get married again? HUSBAND: "Definitely not!" WIFE: "Why not? Don't you like being married?" HUSBAND: "Of course I do." WIFE: "Then why wouldn't you remarry?" HUSBAND: "Okay, okay, I'd get married again." WIFE: "You would?" (with a hurt look) HUSBAND: (makes audible groan) WIFE: "Would you live in our house?" HUSBAND: "Sure, it's a great house." WIFE: "Would you sleep with her in our bed?" HUSBAND: "Where else ...

Apparently, LP's residint teller of tall tales believes I am mocking him on another web site he calls LP-lite, where I supposedly post under the name 'Badeye After Five'. I went to that site to my amusement find some of the most insightful, biting sarcastic posts I've seen in my life. Frankly, I laughed my ass off.
If I could, I would plead guilty to being this 'Badeye After Five' (BAF). Unfortunately, I can't claim any such intelligence and wit as this person. I suspect BAF is someone on LP, or someone who has been banned from LP.
Will the real BAF stand up? You see, the real Badeye is using this accusation to ...

ROUND-HEELED WOMAN: MY LATE-LIFE ADVENTURES IN SEX AND ROMANCE By Jane Juska Chatto & Windus, $34.95 "Before I turn 67 - next March - I would like to have a lot of sex with a man I like. If you want to talk first, Trollope works for me." Jane Juska, a retired high-school teacher and divorced mother of an adult son, placed this ad in The New York Review of Books. She was inspired by Eric Rohmer's movie Autumn Tale, in which a widowed woman finds a suitor through the machinations of her best friend who places a petite annonce in the local newspaper. Unlike Juska, I did not enjoy this movie about disagreeable, bored bourgeoisie manipulating each other. But then I did not ...

Preview-Bush speech to argue for Iraq, domestic plans Post Date: 2007-01-21 20:28:58 by Eoghan

Amid a war of words with Democrats over Iraq, President George W. Bush will use his State of the Union address on Tuesday to argue for staying in Iraq and try to build support for his domestic plans. Bush goes before a joint session of the U.S. Congress, which Democrats control for the first time in his presidency, as many lawmakers are in a hostile mood over his plan to send 21,500 more U.S. troops to Iraq. His speech comes two weeks after he delivered a major address laying out his retooled Iraq strategy, which many Americans doubt will work and which prompted Democrats and some Republicans to prepare a congressional resolution expressing their displeasure. Some experts wonder if the ...

AP SACRAMENTO (Jan. 18) - Will lucky sevens result in wedded bliss for the lucky in love? Wedding planners say July 7th - or 7/7/07 - as the date appears in print, has become the most popular day in years to get married. From vaunted Napa Valley wineries to vistas along Lake Tahoe, California couples have booked up thousands of churches and reception sites hoping to begin wedded bliss on the lucky date. "It's the most popular date - ever," said Tonya Simmons, wedding specialist with Boomtown Casino Hotel on the outskirts of Reno, where lining up sevens more often means winning a slot-machine jackpot. Richard Markel, head of the 800-member Association for Wedding ...

Banned under Saddam Hussein, some say they are cover for prostitution BAGHDAD Fatima Ali was a 24-year-old divorcee with no high school diploma and no job. Shawket al-Rubae was a 34-year-old Shiite sheik with a pregnant wife who, he said, could not have sex with him. Ali wanted someone to take care of her. Rubae wanted a companion. They met one afternoon in May at the house he shares with his wife, in the room where he accepts visitors seeking his religious counsel. He had a proposal. Would Ali be his temporary wife? He would pay her 5,000 Iraqi dinars upfront about $4 in addition to her monthly expenses. About twice a week over the next eight months, he would summon ...

Talking Italian A bus stops and two Italian men get on. They seat themselves, and engage in animated conversation. The lady sitting behind them ignores their conversation at first, but her attention is galvanized when she hears one of the men say the following: ''Emma come first. I come. Dennis come and Dennis come again. I come again. Two asses, they come together again. I come again and pee twice. Then I come once-a-more.'' ''You foul-mouthed swine,'' retorted the lady indignantly. ''In this country we don't talk about our sex lives in public.'' ''Hey, coola down lady,'' said the man. ''Imma just tella my ...

If you can get it, Austin City Limits has an amazing performance by James McMurtrey. It's on PBS, and when he starts into We Can't Make It Here Anymore, see if it doesn't wrap up what this site is all about. When he goes after Bush and the rich, it just ROCKS. He's the new Dylan, IMO.
