Mickey the pug found! Post Date: 2009-08-03 16:03:01 by Turtle

I found Mickey at the last animal shelter I looked. Somebody had already adopted him. They have kids, other dogs, and a fenced-in yard. So I let him go. I could have kept him, but decided he'd be happier with this family. He was hysterical when he saw me, so I took him for a walk and said he had a new family now. He'll forget about me. Besides, the pug rescue has 20 pugs that need homes, so I'll get another one from them. I only had Mickey four months and wasn't that attached to him, not like Norman.
Turtle's Ponderings Post Date: 2009-08-02 14:15:08 by Turtle

Turtle thinks it would be better if we had evolved from dogs, then people would be like Turtle, because dogs have sunny manic natures like Turtle, then of course there is the frolicking in fields of clover, which Turtle does a lot. Turtle also pees outside a lot, although not on trees. Maybe someday scientists will learn to inject pug DNA into people, and it will be a better world, because pugs are exceptionally loving and comical dogs, although a bit stupid. They are the only dogs that Turtle keeps. Besides, high intelligence is overrated, when people use it to make gazillion-dollar weapons systems which have been responsible for the deaths of about 200 million people in the 20th ...
LP NOTICE: Server crash, downtime: donations are needed [Full Thread] Post Date: 2009-08-01 23:53:12 by Jethro Tull

Hi guys; We had a hardware malfunction, and our sysop has jerry-rigged a repair. One of the fans that cools the system/ motherboard (?) malfunctioned and died. The motherboard overheated and the entire system shut down. We do not know yet if irrepairable damage has occurred on the motherboard. If we have more crashes we will need to replace the motherboard. We did do a memory upgrade which should help the processor from overworking, and with that and the jerry rig, it may hold for a while. The memory was purchased a while back but this is the first time we've been inside the facility to have it installed in our server. I'd like to take this opportunity to ask for donations so ...

Washington, DC -- July 04, 2009 Congress today announced that the office of President of the United States of America will be outsourced to India as of September 1, 2009. The move is being made in order to save the President's $400,000 yearly salary, and also a record $750 billion in deficit expenditures and related overhead that his office has incurred during the last 3 months. It is anticipated that $7 trillion can be saved to the end of the President's term. "We believe this is a wise financial move. The cost savings are huge," stated Congressman Thomas Reynolds (R-WA). "We cannot remain competitive on the world stage with the current level of cash outlay," ...

Perhaps Love Perhaps love is like a resting place A shelter from the storm It exists to give you comfort It is there to keep you warm And in these times of trouble When you are most alone The memory of love will bring you home Perhaps love is like a window Perhaps an open door It invites you to come closer It wants you to show you more and even when you lose yourself And dont know what to do The memory of love will see you through Oh, love to some is like a cloud To some as strong as steel For some a way of living For some a way to feel Ans some say love is holding on And some say letting go And some say love is evrything And some say they dont know Perhaps love is like the ocean ...

Yeah, Geico Insurance lyrics, by Rockwell (1984) performed on the Motown label, redone by Mysto & Pizzi (whoever they are). Somebody's Watching Me mp3 I'm just an average man with an average life I work from nine to five, hey hell I pay the price All I want is to be left alone in my average home But why do I always feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone And... CHORUS: I always feel that somebody's watchin' me And I have no privacy I always feel that somebody's watchin' me Tell me is it just a dream? When I come home at night I bolt the door real tight People call me on the phone I'm trying to avoid Well, can the people on TV see me or am I just paranoid ...

How to get to Heaven from Ireland - ( "It's a Curious Race, Da Irish") Post Date: 2009-07-19 13:35:23 by Jethro Tull

"It's a Curious Race, Da IRISH." Oscar Wilde If you have Irish friends and you're having a bit of a challenge understanding their ways, this little story might help. How to get to Heaven from Ireland I was testing children in my Dublin Sunday school class to see if they understood the concept of getting to heaven. I asked them, 'If I sold my house and my car, had a big garage sale and gave all my money to the church, would that get me into heaven?' 'NO!' the children answered. 'If I cleaned the church every day, mowed the garden, and kept everything tidy, would that get me into heaven?' Again, the answer was 'NO!' By now I was ...
The Wisdom of a Dog Post Date: 2009-07-18 11:34:35 by Turtle

I own a runt of a pug named Norman . Sometimes I call him Woola, after the gigantic, savage (but ultimately nice) Martian hound dog in Edgar Rice Burroughs' The Warlord of Mars. Mostly, though, I call him Norman. He looks like a Norman . Like pretty much all pugs, Norman isn't very bright. I reckon, intelligence-wise, he's somewhere in-between a rock and a cabbage. But like nearly all pugs, he's a good-natured clown. He has done such things as fall off of my lap into the trashcan and sleep on his back with his front paws sticking straight up in the air. He hops back and forth like a rabbit, and often spins around, as if he thinks something is sneaking up behind him. He ...

Goldman Sachs in Talks to Acquire Treasury Department Sister Entities to Share Employees, Money In what some on Wall Street are calling the biggest blockbuster deal in the history of the financial sector, Goldman Sachs confirmed today that it was in talks to acquire the U.S. Department of the Treasury. According to Goldman spokesperson Jonathan Hestron, the merger between Goldman and the Treasury Department is "a good fit" because "they're in the business of printing money and so are we." The Goldman spokesman said that the merger would create efficiencies for both entities: "We already have so many employees and so much money flowing back and forth, this ...

Lucky Sox Fans To Get Mini-Bats, Split $800 Billion Post Date: 2009-07-14 14:48:27 by X-15

CHICAGO - Chicago White Sox front office spokesman Scott Reifert announced today that fans attending a July 11 twin bill versus the Minnesota Twins at US Cellular Field will receive a free commemorative mini-bat, unlimited ten cent Budweiser, and up to $800 Billion in federal bailout money. Billed as "Recession Demolition Night," Reifert said the giveaway promises to be the "biggest fan attraction since 1979." The unique cross-promotion was the brainchild of White Sox GM Ken Williams and the Obama Administration, and Reifert said it took nearly 45 minutes of careful planning to work out the details. "The Administration had $800 billion in unspent stimulus money, ...
