BP Stonewalling Compensation to Gulf Residents - by Stephen Lendman On April 23, a New York Times editorial headlined, "Quick Help for the Gulf," mocking grave environmental damage as well as affected communities and residents in typical Times cavalier fashion, saying: BP's April 21 announced "$1 billion down payment on its obligation to restore the Gulf of Mexico to good health is such welcome news that it seems almost churlish to offer caveats" or question its motives. In fact, BP committed America's greatest ever environmental crime, destroying the entire Gulf, as well as the welfare, livelihoods, health and futures of millions of coastal residents, a ...

Pernicious Koch Brothers Political Influence - by Stephen Lendman An earlier article on America's Tea Party discussed its backers, including David and Charles Koch, billionaire owners of Koch Industries, a privately owned energy conglomerate with interests in manufacturing, ranching, forestry, finance, and numerous other ventures in 60 countries and 45 states. In 2009, Forbes called it America's second largest private company after Cargill with annual revenues of $100 billion. Donating generously to recruit, educate, fund, and organize Tea Party protests, they helped turn their private agenda into a mass movement of working Americans backing policies oppositie their own ...

The man is recording some police officers from his own garage and some thug cop out of nowhere walks up to him and tries to steal his phone under the obvious lie it's supposedly "evidence." "I'ma take the phone... 'cuz that's gonna be evidence... (Man refuses)... You want to go to jail?... Withholding evidence." It's clear from the way he's acting it's pure brazen intimidation and thuggery. AFP Was Right: U.S. Funding Arab Uprisings The New York Times and The Washington Post have finally admitted what AMERICAN FREE PRESS (AFP) asserted as far back as Feb. 14: There is much more to the so-called grassroots revolutions in the Mideast than meets the eye. While critics accused AFP of purveying conspiracy theories, the Times and the Post have now laid it on the line: American tax dollars have bankrolled a host of both private and quasi-public institutions that have been underwriting the revolutionary activity wreaking havoc throughout the Arab world. The first inkling came in a report buried inside the Post on March 10, under the headline U.S. funds ...

2010 State Department Human Rights Report on Egypt - by Stephen Lendman In her book, "Cowboy Republic: Six Ways the Bush Gang Has Defied the Law," Marjorie Cohn quoted a former CIA agent saying: "If you want a serious interrogation, you send a prisoner to Jordan. If you want them tortured, you send them to Syria. If you want someone to disappear....you send them to Egypt." In fact, Egypt under Mubarak and current military leadership is proficient in all of the above. These practices go on daily but unmentioned in US media reports, claiming September elections promise democracy, when, in fact, everything changed but stayed the same. Each year, the State Department ...

Is the Constitution Really Inimical To States Rights? - Part Four By: Al Benson, Jr. Mr. Galles also noted that: "One of the most insightful of the Antifederalists was Robert Yates, a New York judge who, as a delegate to the Constitutional Convention, withdrew because the convention was exceeding its instructions. Yates wrote as Brutus in the debates over the Constitution. Given his experience as a judge, his claim that the Supreme Court would become a source of almost unlimited federal over-reaching was particularly insightful." As Brutus, he observed that the Supreme Court, as envisioned under the Constitution, would end up becoming a source of growing abuse because they ...

Napolitano backs 6-year olds pat-down: Done professionally according to the protocols The shock of a video of a Transportation Security Administration screener patting down a 6-year-old child has drawn anger and even a subsequent potential legislative response. But the TSAs actions were not improper, says Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. On Wednesdays Morning Joe on MSNBC, Napolitano described the rationale behind such screening saying everyone must be screened, because otherwise an exempted group could be exploited for a potential terrorist attack. Nobody likes to see those kinds of things [...] even ...

Second Amendment Rights Once Again at Risk Post Date: 2011-04-20 06:43:36 by Ada

Americans continue to watch their Second Amendment rights diminish, this time as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives ( still known as ATF) launches a campaign to change the definition of shotgun. According to the blog Beregonds Bar, a recently released study by the Bureau will ultimately make shotguns illegal, and may also have negative implications for all guns. The ATF states that the purpose of the study is to establish criteria that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives will use to determine the importability of certain shotguns under the provisions of the Gun Control Act of 1968 (GCA)

S & P's Downgrade Targets Entitlements - by Stephen Lendman A previous article discussed the dirty game, accessed through the following link: http://sjlendman.blogspot.com/2011/04/republican-plan-to-end-social-security.html It explained bipartisan support for incrementally ending Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, no matter that: -- Medicaid provides essential healthcare for low-income beneficiaries, jointly funded by the states and Washington, managed at the state level. -- In contrast, Social Security and Medicare are insurance programs, funded by worker-employer payroll tax deductions. They're contractual federal obligations to eligible recipients who qualify. ...

Here's the scene: We were enjoying the nice spring weather from our balcony. A friend was visiting on his bike, and he rode up on the sidewalk from the street to our front door. In NYC this is illegal. You are supposed to stop in the street, get off the bike and walk it on the sidewalk. Although he was merely coming from the street up to our front door, those few second were illegal. NYPD rolls up and tickets him for this ($150 fine or appear in court!). Meanwhile our neighbor walks by while this scene is unfolding. They exchange some banter. We all laughed. He keeps walking. From there everything escalates... Seems completely unnecessary to me... At the end of the day, he was ...
OVERVIEW OF THE DAVIDIAN MASSACRE Post Date: 2011-04-17 09:32:19 by Ada

I was one of millions of Americans who, after seeing the April 19, 1993 burning of the Branch Davidian church outside of Waco, Texas wondered: Did these people really commit mass suicide, as the government alleged, despite the clear evidence on television that the fire started after a tank crashed into one part of the building? Were they really as insane as the government claimed? Why did they have to be attacked with massive, military-like force 51 days earlier? What is the truth? After two years of research I came to the following conclusions, documented in my book The Davidian Massacre published in late 1995. After the book came out more evidence surfaced that back up allegations -- and ...

And, when combined with other behavioral indicators, it could result in a traveler facing additional scrutiny. CNN has obtained a list of roughly 70 "behavioral indicators" that TSA behavior detection officers use to identify potentially "high risk" passengers at ...

White House draft bill expands DHS cyber responsibilities Post Date: 2011-04-15 10:11:03 by noone222

Under a White House plan, the Homeland Security Department will have far-reaching oversight over all civilian agency computer networks. The proposal would codify much of the administration's memo from July 2010 expanding DHS's cyber responsibilities for civilian networks. The White House, however, is taking those responsibilities further, according to a source familiar with the document. The administration drafted a legislative proposal to give DHS many, if not all, of the same authorities for the .gov networks that the Defense Department has for the .mil networks. Federal News Radio recently viewed a draft copy of the legislative proposal. "I have to question why the ...

Obamanomics: Waging War on American Workers - by Stephen Lendman Since taking office, Obama shamelessly betrayed his constituents by: -- ignoring popular needs during America's greatest economic crisis since the Great Depression; -- giving Wall Street crooks trillions of taxpayer dollars; -- spending another $1.5 trillion annually on militarism, imperial wars, and related policies at a time America has no enemies; -- waging war on organized labor and public education, as well as civil and human rights; and -- claiming "tough choices" demand class warfare through neoliberal austerity for working Americans, mainly middle and lower income ones least able to afford it. Kobe Bryant fined $100,000 for gay slur LOS ANGELES (AP) -- The NBA fined Kobe Bryant $100,000 on Wednesday for using a derogatory gay term in frustration over a referee's call. NBA Commissioner David Stern issued a swift disciplinary ruling after the five-time NBA champion guard cursed and used a common homophobic slur when referee Bennie Adams called a technical foul on him Tuesday night in the third quarter of Los Angeles' win over the Spurs. "Kobe Bryant's comment during last night's game was offensive and inexcusable," Stern said. "While I'm fully aware that basketball is an emotional game, such a distasteful term should never be tolerated. ... ...

Ariana Goldboldo, a mentally handicapped 13-year-old, was abducted from her home at gunpoint on March 24. Her captors have systematically poisoned her through injections of a dangerous psychoactive drug. There is also reason to believe that Ariana, who has reportedly tested positive for an STD, has been molested during her time in captivity. Ariana's mother, Maryanne, made a valiant but futile effort to protect her daughter. As a result, she may end up in prison. If this happens, Ariana almost certainly won't survive. Godboldo, a college dance instructor, had attempted to school her daughter at home, but eventually decided to place the youngster in a local government school. This ...

GOING TO WAR: THE U.S. CONSTITUTION vs THE UNITED NATIONS March 27, 2011 by ppjg John Wallace/Oathkeeper Where is the so-called conservative Republican leadership on the issue? There doesnt seem to be any outrage about the unconstitutional attack on another country or any demand that President Obama obey the Constitution. It seems that since the end of World War II, the United States has been in an almost continuous state of war without a formal Declaration of War having been passed by Congress. Our political leaders from both political parties have been using a loophole called the United Nations to circumvent our Constitution and send our young men and women into ...
