from the ah,-whatever-happened-to-that-first-amendment dept While the Feds are still trying to figure out if they can take legal action against Wikileaks and Julian Assange, in the short term it appears that the government is resorting to more traditional censorship methods: pressuring companies to silence Wikileaks. Wikileaks had just started using Amazon's S3 storage, after trying to deal with a constant denial of service attack that started this past weekend, but Amazon has now apparently dumped Wikileaks after getting pressure from Senator Joe Lieberman, who flat out called for censoring Wikileaks and then applauded Amazon for following through: "(Amazon's) decision to ...

'We Hate Obese Passengers and People with Personal Hygiene Issues:' Now 'abused' TSA Staff Vent Their Anger at Patdown Searches By Daily Mail Reporter Furious security staff today hit back at pat down searches in airports across America, claiming that they hated dealing with obese travellers and those with personal hygiene problems. As millions of people prepared to travel for Thanksgiving, passenger backlash was growing against the measures introduced by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). But after being contacted by a travel blog, 17 security staff came forward to express their disgust at the policy put in place last month. They said that they hated ...

A food safety bill that has burned up precious days of the Senates lame-duck session appears headed back to the chamber because Democrats violated a constitutional provision requiring that tax provisions originate in the House. By pre-empting the Houses tax-writing authority, Senate Democrats appear to have touched off a power struggle with members of their own party in the House. The Senate passed the bill Tuesday, sending it to the House, but House Democrats are expected to use a procedure known as blue slipping to block the bill, according to House and Senate GOP aides. The debacle could prove to be a major embarrassment for Senate Democrats, who sought Tuesday ...

Incarceration's Effect on Economic Mobility - by Stephen Lendman The Pew Charitable Trusts "uses public opinion polling and other research tools to produce reports that track important issues and trends." Its new report is titled, "Collateral Costs: Incarceration's Effect on Economic Mobility," focusing on America's burgeoning prison population and enormous cost. Now over $50 billion annually, it "consum(es) 1 in every 15 general fund dollars." The nation spends recklessly on harshness, leaving little little left for society's needs. No wonder Pew found that people today are worse off than their parents at the same age, and "42 percent of ...
Indiana Appeals Court OKs police use of warrant with wrong address Post Date: 2010-11-30 13:14:39 by freepatriot32

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) The Indiana Court of Appeals has denied a defendant's motion to suppress evidence police seized under a search warrant that contained the wrong address because the officer who served it went to the right location anyway. The judges reasoned in a ruling Monday that there was no chance of the warrant being served at the wrong address because Knox City Police Officer Chad Keen knew where he was supposed to go. The ruling says that had Officer Keen not been the executing officer, the court may have reached a different result. Donnie Salyer filed the appeal after a Starke circuit judge denied his motion to suppress evidence at a court hearing in 2009. The ruling ...

Massive Fraud in Haiti's Sham Elections - by Stephen Lendman On November 28, Haiti held first round legislative and presidential elections, a previous article explaining that democracy was off the ballot, accessed through the following link: http://sjlendman.blogspot.com/2010/11/haitis-sham-elections-solidifying.html The entire process was rigged, 15 parties excluded, including by far the most popular, Aristide's Fanmi Lavalas. Under the most dire conditions, it was a cruel joke, not even equivalent to what Edward Herman called "demonstration elections" in his 1980 book by that title, sham ones assuring installation of US- friendly candidates, elections in name only. ...

We were just notified today from the relative in Japan who sends the box with the tapes that he couldn't send the box to the USA, but the Japanese postal clerk didn't know why when asked for the reason. We then took a look at Japanese postal web sites ...

Mohamed Osman Mohamud: Terrorist or Victim? - by Stephen Lendman November 27 major media headlines accused him, including New York Times writers Colin Miner, Liz Robbins and Erik Eckholm triple-teaming him in their article titled, "FBI Says Oregon Suspect Planned 'Grand' Attack." Their saying so becomes accepted fact, according to corporate media reports - guilty by accusation. It happens repeatedly. It's usually strategically timed, in this case to defuse anger over enhanced airport screening. It's also nearly always against Muslims, America's target of choice - of course, to justify imperial wars against Muslim nations. The topic was addressed often in ...

If the information recently acquired by Doug Hagmann of Northeast Intelligence Network is accurate, then something really big is happening in America right now - and its most certainly not a step towards individual liberty. According to Mr. Hagmann, he was contacted by a source within the DHS who provided an alarming memo detailing a new administrative directive agreed upon by DHS chief Janet Napolitano and the head of TSA John Pistole. The memo, according to Doug Hagmann, officially addresses those who are opposed to, or engaged in the disruption of the implementation of the enhanced airport screening procedures as domestic extremists. The memo leaves no ...

The investigative arm of the Homeland Security Department appears to be shutting down websites that facilitate copyright infringement. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has seized dozens of domain names over the past few days, according to TorrentFreak. ICE appears to be targeting sites that help Internet users download copyrighted music, as well as sites that sell bootleg goods, such as fake designer handbags. The sites are replaced with a note from the government: "This domain named has been seized by ICE, Homeland Security Investigations." For instance, borntrade.com, 51607.com, and amoyhy.com have each been seized. One of the site owners told TorrentFreak that his ...

On September 29, its Governor-General, Manuel Macias y Casado (a Spanish general), ceded control to Washington, its current status today as a colony. A new Zogby (11/19 - 22) poll disagreed, saying: At 61% opposed, "(i)t's clear (most) Americans are not happy with TSA and their enhanced security measures recently enacted. The airlines should not be happy with 48% of their frequent fliers seeking a different mode of transportation due to these enhancements." Neither should ...

Screw you, Mark Ames! (Oh, and happy Thanksgiving!) We should all give thanks, this Thanksgiving holiday, for the fact that we are not yet living under a dictatorship. Although if youre going through an airport on your way to celebrate the season, you are indeed living in a dictatorship, subject to search and the seizure of your personal effects, as well as being "porno-scanned" and felt up by some TSA Epsilon-Minus Semi-Moron. No, we arent yet living under a dictatorship, but I cant say Im all that optimistic that we wont be come next Thanksgiving. The odds of another terrorist attack are quite good, and our ineffective means of ...

It doesnt take a bureaucrat long to create an empire. John Pistole, the FBI agent who took over the Transportation Security Administration on July 1 told USA Today 16 days later that protecting trains and subways from terrorist attacks will be as high a priority for him as air travel. It is difficult to imagine New Yorkers being porno-screened and sexually groped on crowed subway platforms or showing up an hour or two in advance for clearance for a 15 minute subway ride, but once bureaucrats get the bit in their teeth they take absurdity to its logical conclusion. Buses will be next, although it is even more difficult to imagine open air bus stops turned into security zones with ...

By Brian Fitzpatrick © 2010 WorldNetDaily WASHINGTON Is this the case that will break the presidential eligibility question wide open? The Supreme Court conferred today on whether arguments should be heard on the merits of Kerchner v. Obama, a case challenging whether President Barack Obama is qualified to serve as president because he may not be a "natural-born citizen" as required by Article II, Section 1, Clause 5 of the U.S. Constitution. ATLANTA The nation's airport security chief urged travelers not to boycott full-body scans on Wednesday one of the busiest flying days of the year as the Thanksgiving holiday approaches with some Americans in a foul and rebellious mood. Transportation Security Administration chief John Pistole said Monday that such delaying actions would only "tie up people who want to go home and see their loved ones." "We all wish we lived in a world where security procedures at airports weren't necessary," he said, "but that just isn't the case." He noted the alleged attempt by a Nigerian with explosives in his underwear to bring down a ...
