9 Hutaree militia members face federal charges of conspiracy, attempting to use weapons of mass destruction Nine members of Hutaree - described by authorities as an anti-government extremist organization - have been indicted on federal charges of attempting to use weapons of mass destruction. At least one member of the group lives in Washtenaw County, and the indictment charges that group members trained in Lenawee County as they "conspired to levy war against the United States." The indictments were released this morning, two days after numerous raids in southeast Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. Among those charged are six Michigan residents, two Ohio residents and one Indiana ...

Going to Utah to pay my respects

Going to Utah to pay my respects Paul Jacob Sunday, March 28, 2010 Long before the crack of tomorrow’s dawn, this old man will be creaking out of bed, cantering to the airport and jetting to Salt Lake City, Utah. In some respects, I’m going there to argue against my usual political allies and in favor of my usual opponents. But I don’t really see things that way. At least, nowhere near enough to consider chunking out the most important ally of all: citizen control of government. In America, we citizens are in charge. Or should be. In Utah, conservative legislators are throwing out this very first principle of governance in an attempt to thwart an ethics initiative citizens ...

The nature of those raids has not been made public. FBI Special Agent Jason Pack, who is based in Washington, D.C., said he did not know how many people were taken into custody. Gina Balaya, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's Office, could not be reached today. The Power of Chewing Gum: Saul Alinsky's Tactics

I wrote this in 1983 as an introduction to a symposium I edited, Tactics of Christian Resistance. I have not changed my mind. Saul Alinsky was one of the really effective humanistic radicals of the 1960s. He did not throw bombs. He did not spout rhetoric. He simply taught people how to use the bureaucracies' own red tape to tie them up in knots. This is why he was so effective, and why his book, Rules For Radicals (1972), is so useful for an understanding of the principles of successful resistance, despite its humanistic bias. His words are worth considering: Let us in the name of radical pragmatism not forget that in our system with all its repressions we can still speak out and ...

The McCain-Lieberman Police State Act

The McCain-Lieberman Police State Act - by Stephen Lendman If enacted, it will advance what this writer addressed in a December 2007 article titled, "Police State America - A Look Back and Ahead," covering numerous Bush administration laws, Executive Orders (EOs), National and Homeland Security Presidential Directives, edicts, and various illegal acts targeting designated domestic and foreign adversaries, dissent, civil liberties, human rights, and other democratic freedoms. Straightaway post-9/11, George Bush signed a secret finding empowering the CIA to "Capture, Kill or Interrogate Al-Qaeda Leaders." He also authorized establishing a covert global gulag to detain ...

Constitutional Awakening [MUST READ!!!]

Constitutional Awakening Walter E. Williams Wednesday, March 24, 2010 If there is anything good to say about Democrat control of the White House, Senate and House of Representatives, it's that their extraordinarily brazen, heavy-handed acts have aroused a level of constitutional interest among the American people that has been dormant for far too long. Part of this heightened interest is seen in the strength of the tea party movement around the nation. Another is the angry reception that many congressmen received at their district town hall meetings. Yet another is seen by the exchanges on the nation's most popular radio talk shows such as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin ...

WASHINGTON – The FBI is investigating threats against lawmakers stemming from intense opposition to the health care overhaul law. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer says more than 10 Democratic lawmakers have reported incidents. Hoyer adds that the FBI and Capitol Police briefed Democrats on how to handle perceived security threats. The FBI says that all threats and incidents directed against members of Congress are taken seriously and are being investigated by the FBI. The bureau's Washington field office issued the statement. The FBI statement added that U.S. Capitol Police and other law enforcement agencies also are investigating to identify and bring to justice those ...

White House, experts: Health care suit will fail

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The White House says it isn't worried that 13 state attorneys general are suing to overturn the massive health care overhaul, and many legal experts agree the effort is futile. But the lawsuit, filed in federal court seven minutes after President Barack Obama signed the 10-year, $938 billion health care bill, underscores the divisiveness of the issue and the political rancor that has surrounded it. Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum led the effort to file the suit that claims Congress doesn't have the constitutional right to force people to get health coverage. It also says the federal government is violating the Constitution by forcing a mandate on ...

The creepy tyranny of Canada's hate speech laws

(updated below - Update II) I've written many times before about the evils of "hate speech" laws that are prevalent in Canada and Europe -- people being fined, prosecuted and hauled before official tribunals for expressing political opinions which the State has prohibited and criminalized. I won't rehash those arguments here, but I do want to note a particularly creepy illustration of how these laws manifest. The far-right hatemonger Ann Coulter was invited by a campus conservative group to speak at the University of Ottawa, and the Vice Provost of that college sent Coulter a letter warning her that she may be subject to criminal prosecution if the views she expresses ...

Dates That Destroyed America

Passage of the so-called "health care reform" bill in the House of Representatives this past Sunday, March 21 (I won't even address the inferred unconstitutionality of Congress doing business on the Lord's Day. See Article. I. Section. 7. Paragraph. 2.) drove yet another stake into the heart of America. For all intents and purposes, it is the health of the United States that is in dire need of healing. In fact, the US has been on extended life-support for decades. With its condition being rendered critical, and absent major surgery, its days are numbered. The passage of this bill only serves to further weaken an already frail Constitution. In fact, this one may prove to be ...

National Archives Seventeenth Amendment Devvy Kidd March 2010 This work is dedicated to Bill Benson and his wife Lorraine. If Bill had not given up two years of his life to root out the official state and federal documents, we would never have known that both the Sixteenth and Seventeenth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution were never properly ratified. For uncovering this monstrous tragedy for our country, Bill has endured prison and endless hounding and prosecution by "our" government. His wife has stood by his side for almost three decades of this injustice and suffered as she watched her husband flogged near to death by "our" government. This is a lengthy ...

Civil Liberties in Obama's America

The following is based on a talk delivered at the Free State Project's Liberty Forum in Nashua, New Hampshire, Saturday, March 20, 2010. In the United States, civil liberties are seen as the province of the left. The ACLU, the Bar Association, the Democratic Party, people who err in favor of procedural protections for criminals and even terrorists – this is what tends to come to mind to conservatives who condemn civil liberties as a leftist interest, and to liberals who celebrate it as a great anchor of their political philosophy. But what happens when the left-liberals are in charge of the executive branch, its police, its justice department, prosecutors and military courts? ...

I do not have nor do I desire to purchase health insurance. I look after my own health. When things required me to go to a clinic or hospital I have always paid out of pocket. I was fine with this. Now I no longer have a right to my privacy. Now I will be required to share my private personal medical data with a government run entity. If I refuse to comply I will be punished by law, with a fine, until I come into compliance. Why is their no option to opt out?

There is a case that was brought before the US Supreme Court: Chrysler vs Brown. I can't find any transcript . Help if you can. Case was brought in 1979 and showed that the IRS was a corporation. Since then, the IRS has not provided any info as to yea or ney. Yeah, I've reviewed a bunch of decisions of the IRS and the bottom line is YOUR A SLAVE to the IRS. So, anyone have a transcript to Chrysler vs Brown?

WASHINGTON – Riding the coattails of a historic health care vote, the House on Sunday also passed a broad reorganization of college aid that affects millions of students and moves President Barack Obama closer to winning yet another of his top domestic policies. The bill rewrites a four-decades-old student loan program, eliminating its reliance on private lenders and uses the savings to direct $36 billion in new spending to Pell Grants for students in financial need. In the biggest piece of education legislation since No Child Left Behind nine years ago, the bill would also provide more than $4 billion to historically black colleges and community colleges. The bill was paired with ...

March 22, 2010Where Were You When the Republic Died?By Matt Patterson In November 2008, Americans elected a socialist as their president.  In March 2010, they woke up stunned to find themselves living in a socialist country.Health insurers - once private companies - are now organs of the federal government.  Every citizen is a ward of the state, which can now compel you to have insurance; punish you if you don't; determine if your insurance is acceptable; punish you if it isn't.  Thousands of new federal bureaucrats will soon spill from the D.C. Beltway and flood the country, scrutinizing our finances to verify compliance with this new law.  A government that ...

Federal Reserve Must Disclose Bank Bailout Records

March 19 (Bloomberg) -- The Federal Reserve Board must disclose documents identifying financial firms that might have collapsed without the largest U.S. government bailout ever, a federal appeals court said. The U.S. Court of Appeals in Manhattan ruled today that the Fed must release records of the unprecedented $2 trillion U.S. loan program launched primarily after the 2008 collapse of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. The ruling upholds a decision of a lower-court judge, who in August ordered that the information be released. The Fed had argued that disclosure of the documents threatens to stigmatize borrowers and cause them “severe and irreparable competitive injury,” ...

Don't Worry -- Everyone Will Know Jackie Gingrich Cushman Thursday, March 18, 2010 The last time I heard someone utter, "Don't worry -- no one will ever know," the response was, "What are you smoking, crack?" The crack comment was not meant literally, but figuratively. It made its point: Don't assume that you can get away with something; people do find out, and you have to think through decisions. The result: The action suggested was not taken -- success. We all experience those moments. The moment when someone in the room says, "Don't worry, no one will ever know." If we are lucky, we have someone else in the room who snaps us back to ...

Lies the Government Told You by Judge Andrew Napolitano

Judge Andrew Napolitano has put into writing what many of us have long suspected…our government has been lying to use for years about almost everything it has ever done. If you think our government is crooked and power hungry, you will realize just how crooked it is when you read this book. Lies The Government Told You is scary as hell to be truthful. I didn’t find a single thing that I disagreed with. It’s almost unbelievable how far our Nation has moved from the Constitution. While I don’t watch much news anymore (I find most so called “journalists” to be either too frightened or too stupid to ask real questions that actually matter) I see enough to keep up ...

I know you're not going to listen to me. I'm going to say it anyway, because as a concerned citizen of The United States of America, I must. You are making a grave, perhaps nation-ending mistake. Attempting to "deem" the Health Care bill passed when it has not actually been voted on is not Constitutional. Article 1, Section 7: All bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills. Every Bill which shall have passed the House of Representatives and the Senate, shall, before it become a Law, be presented to the President of the United States; If he approve he shall sign it, ...

White Nationalism — The Only Realistic Solution Mar 17th, 2010 by Gregory Hood The entire conservative and libertarian movements have mobilized everything they have against the passage of ObamaCare. At this time, it looks like the Democrats will still succeed. Even if, by some miracle, the bill is defeated, socialist health care in this country is an inevitability. The Republicans are not even a useful opposition on issues of limited government; indeed, the most likely presidential nominee in 2012 passed some form of socialist health care in his own state. Republicans can also not be counted on to be of any use in the looming battle over amnesty, as many of the most ...

DERBY LINE, Vt. -- A recent increase in border patrol along side streets dividing Derby Line, Vt., and Stanstead, Canada, are causing confusion and animosity between locals and border patrol agents. The situation came to a head recently when a local man was arrested while walking down a street he said that he has walked down for years without a problem. "I walked over to Canada on a Saturday night around quarter to nine to get a pizza," Buzz Roy explained. Roy lives and works in Derby Line. He walked down Church Street to the nearest pizza shop, which happens to be in Canada, and said that to his surprise he was stopped by state police and told that crossing on Church Street is ...
