During that stop, which the Angels lawsuit said was made without probable cause, Denver Police arrived for backup and held the Hells Angels at the rifle-point for about an hour while each was searched. In his letter, Denver Manager of Safety Al LaCabe apologizes, and wrote, "at no time did any officer or the City and ...

Red in Tooth and Claw: American Terror, Then and Now By Chris Floyd Thursday, 24 January 2008Lobster the British "journal of parapolitics" (or "deep politics," as its usually called in North America, following the work of Peter Dale Scott) is an interesting magazine. A very low-key affair, with no pictures, no ads, no color, just columns of plain, small-print, heavily footnoted articles, Lobster comes out twice a year, published in the front room of editor Robin Ramsay's house in Hull. In a profile in the Sunday Herald a few years back, Ramsay described the magazine this way: "Lobster is a futile remnant of an ancient notion of trying to ...

The Ominous Message in Padilla Post Date: 2008-01-24 05:56:45 by Ada

Yesterday the presiding judge in the Jose Padilla case sentenced Padilla to 17 years in jail. Supporters of the war on terrorism might be tempted to smugly believe that the conviction and sentence vindicated what the government did to Padilla. They do not. What happened to Padilla continues to hang over the head of every independent-minded American like a Damocles sword. The reason that our American ancestors added the Bill of Rights to the Constitution was twofold: (1) they didnt trust federal officials when it came to their liberties, and (2) they understood that the greatest threat to their freedom lay with federal officials. Thus, while they believed that a federal ...

US journalists ignore Sunday Times scoop on FBI nuclear scandal Harry Shearer, one of the voices behind The Simpsons, has used his own blogging voice to ask a pertinent question. Why has a story broken by the Sunday Times over here about nefarious goings-on in the States failed to take off in the American media? He isn't alone in his concerns. Daniel Ellsberg, the man who leaked the Pentagon Papers some 35 years ago, is even more outraged. He writes: "For the second time in two weeks, the entire US press has let itself be scooped by Rupert Murdoch's London Sunday Times on a dynamite story of criminal activities by corrupt US officials promoting nuclear proliferation. But ...

DOOMSDAY LEGISLATION Handful of Congressmen Could Rule America in Event of Catastrophe By Greg Szymanski February 5, 2005 No longer do Capitol Hill legislators need a quorum to do the peoples business. Now under a piece of hotly contested legislation passed without media attention on Jan. 5, only a few members of Congress are needed to do official business in the event of a catastrophe instead of the usual 218. Critics claim H. Res. 5 paves the way for tyranny, allowing only a few to decide for so many. The provision states: If the House should be without a quorum due to catastrophic circumstances, then . . . until there appear in the House a ...

The following is a short, consise and intelligent analysis of facts within the United States. It was posted in the theekklesiachurch@yahoogroups.com group to which I am a contributor and also an attentive listener. To understand the following better, pleast note that the United States government is a commercial organization/corporation. And, the United States government does nothing for free. Any time that the United States government, or, any sub-government of that government, i.e., state, county or city/town, offers you a paper to sign, it is a contract which carries a price. As this 'system,' a criminal enterprise, grinds on, the price, which you can see around you in America, ...

"It is not 'my body, my choice?'" Donna Holman told Johnson County District Court, giving new meaning to a common pro-abortion slogan, in her pleadings submitted in support of her request for a reconsideration of her sentence. "I find it especially strange and abhorrent that a female judge would somehow think it is normal for Planned Parenthood to systematically kill babies in the womb, but ...

Former JAG lawyer: Only America 'parses' torture01/18/2008 @ 9:49 am Filed by David Edwards and Nick Juliano The United States has lost so much of its credibility and prestige on the world stage because of its heavy-handed interrogation tactics that President Bush's insistence that US interrogators don't torture holds as much water as "Iran denying it has a nuclear weapons program," a retired Navy lawyer says. There is a growing perception around the globe that the CIA's alleged use of tactics such as waterboarding puts the US alongside some of the very regimes it is fighting in ignoring fundamental human rights. The latest valley of US credibility came ...
