I just saw it...and WOW! This movie will wake people up. It might even equip them spiritually to first identify and then resist would-be tyrants and their sometimes eager goonsquads. The only thing I can't figure out is why Time Warner ever allowed such a movie to be made? It doesn't exactly depict BIG MEDIA in a favorable light. In fact, it's damning as hell of the CNNs and FoxNewsChannels of this world. Got any theories?
Heritage Foundation President Edwin J. Feulner - National Debt Now $72 trillion Post Date: 2006-03-17 14:44:39 by Uncle Bill

Budget joyride might end in crash for congressional GOP Townhall.com By Edwin J. Feulner March 17, 2006 An iron rule of politics holds that contested elections are won and lost in the middle. Roughly 40 percent of voters will vote for the Democrat and 40 percent for the Republican, leaving the outcome in the hands of the undecided 20 percent. The rule assumes the candidates hold on to their "bases." But sometimes they don't. Many pundits believe a liberal revolt in Democratic ranks cost Al Gore the state of Florida, and thus the presidency, in 2000. Today, Republicans in Congress, who spent 40 years in the minority before 1994, face their own brewing revolt among their base. ...

Friday, March 17, 2006; Page A05 The Bush administration could continue its policy of spying on targeted Americans without obtaining warrants, but only if it justifies the action to a small group of lawmakers, under legislation introduced yesterday by key Republican senators. The four senators hope to settle the debate over National Security Agency eavesdropping on international communications involving Americans when one of the parties is suspected of terrorist ties. President Bush prompted a months-long uproar when he said that constitutional powers absolve him of the need to seek warrants in such cases, even though the 1978 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act requires warrants for ...

Published: 17 March 2006 The United States sent a clear message to Iran yesterday that if all attempts fail at a diplomatic solution to the current stand-off, it is prepared to use force to end Tehran's perceived nuclear threat and its role as a fomentor of international terrorism. Offering a robust reaffirmation of the Bush administration's doctrine of pre-emptive action to deal with threats to national security, the latest four-yearly National Security Strategy published by the White House declares that the US "may face no greater challenge from a single country than from Iran". Tehran's suspected military nuclear programme is only part of the problem. More generally, the ...

I Thought This Was About Abortion?!?! Post Date: 2006-03-16 11:57:39 by NOLAJBS

Pro-life does not mean what people think it means. What is commonly called pro-life would be more accurately described as "anti-abortion" or "anti-choice." The abortion issue as it is now being raised is an attempt to challenge Roe v Wade and swing the pendulum back in favor of states' rights vs federal gov't hegemony. In theory I agree that states should have more rights and responsibilities and that the federal gov't should be eviscerated or at least greatly reduced in size and power. A wedge issue (abortion) has purposefully been chosen by the establishment to raise the states' rights issue so that people will take sides according to how they identify themselves in ...

AYN RAND AND THE PERVERSION OF LIBERTARIANISM By Lance Klafta Anarchy: A Journal of Desire Armed no. 34 (1993) The political controversy of the late 19th century was: * whether socialists (all those who believed in the individual's right to possess what he or she produced) should engage in the political process, seize control of the state, and use the state apparatus to achieve liberation; * or, whether a worker's state was inherently contradictory, counter revolutionary, and would only lead to the creation of a new ruling class whose interests would still clash with those of the ruled - that the state should be abolished allowing for no transitional stage of any kind during which power ...

An FBI report from November 2002 indicates that an agent photographed members of the Thomas Merton Center as they handed out leaflets opposing the impending war in Iraq. The report called the group a "left-wing organization advocating, among many political causes, pacifism." The same memo notes ...

News Corp chief Rupert Murdoch has warned that power is tilting away from traditional media as consumers flock to the Internet, posing a serious threat to existing business models. "Power is moving away from the old elite in our industry -- the editors, the chief executives and, let's face it, the proprietors," he said in a speech to a printing guild in London on Monday evening, a day after his 75th birthday. "A new generation of media consumers has risen demanding content delivered when they want it, how they want it, and very much as they want it." News Corp, owner of the 20th Century Fox film studios and Fox News Channel, has moved into the online sector with its ...

Before they come for the guns Worldnetdaily By Claire Wolfe May 20, 1999 "Romanian term limits," somebody was saying as I walked into Grouchy's Gun Shop, just north of the Hardyville stoplight. The other guys around the counter laughed, as if at a bitter joke. Then their grins -- and their talk -- chopped off as they turned to see who'd come in. "She's OK," said the glance they exchanged. I went to look at holsters and they went on as if they'd never been interrupted. "Didja hear about this new executive order? That murdering dictator in the White House ..." one groused as I disappeared around a display rack. And it occurred to me -- not for the first time ...

The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court in Manhattan, where a judge last month ordered the Pentagon to release to the AP the identities of several hundred detainees who had participated in hearings. Sandra Day O'Connor: U.S. Risks Edging Toward Dictatorship Posted on Monday, March 13 2006 Sandra Day O'Connor, a Republican-appointed judge who retired last month after 24 years on the Supreme Court, warned the U.S. is in danger of edging towards dictatorship if the party's rightwingers continue to attack the judiciary. In a strongly worded speech at Georgetown University, reported by National Public Radio and the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, Ms. O'Connor took aim at Republican leaders whose repeated denunciations of the courts for alleged liberal bias could, she said, be contributing to a climate of violence against judges. Ms O'Connor, nominated by Ronald Reagan as the first woman ...

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Four former inmates sued the private company that runs the Citrus County jail, alleging two former officers put human waste in their food and drinks. The inmates were subject to cruel punishment, torture and battery in 2004, when they were forced to eat the food contaminated with urine and feces, according to the federal lawsuit filed Friday in Tampa. A spokesman for Tennessee-based Corrections Corporation of America said the company took action once they heard about the incident at the Citrus County Detention Facility.
