Sam Bouman on regaining our freedom. Submitted by Cara McKennon, but primarily written by Sam Bouman himself. Shortly after the Conference Call, I sent an email to Sam Bouman and asked him to review my synopsis, after I was finished with it. He email me his notes from the Conference Call instead, which are included below. Sam also sent me a copy of a 90 page book, in an attachment, that can be read in the Adobe reader, written by Mary Elizabeth Croft. The title of this book is: “How I Clobbered Every Bureaucratic Cash Confiscating Agency Known To Man. …a Spiritual Economic Book on $$$ and Remembering Who You Are.” It has more than 600 kb. If anyone wants this book and has ...

It is time to ask some hard questions about the preponderance of leaders and organizations commonly identified as the Religious Right. Are they gullible, naïve, or willingly ignorant? How can anyone who truly believes that unborn babies deserve the right to life continue to support President George W. Bush? His track record on the life issue screams betrayal! Let's get real: on the subject of protecting the lives of unborn babies, Bush is just so much hot air! American Life League president Judy Brown, columnist Thomas Droleskey, Howard Phillips, Covenant News.com web host Jim Rudd, and many others have provided the American people with incontrovertible documentation regarding G.W. ...

IRS: Gut Schulz v IRS DOJ: Court's Opinion Threatens Tax System Schulz Responds On March 1st, IRS and DOJ filed a motion with the Second Circuit Court of Appeals asking the Court to amend its January ruling in Schulz v IRS (Case No. 04-0196). Today, Bob Schulz mailed to the Court in Manhattan his brief opposing that motion. The government's motion is evidence that IRS is obviously upset with the Court’s opinion that held that the recipient of an IRS administrative summons “cannot be held in contempt, arrested, detained, or otherwise punished for refusing to comply with the original IRS summons, no matter the taxpayer’s reasons or lack of reasons for so refusing.” In ...

ORLANDO, FL (AP) -- A police officer twice used a Taser stun device on a drug suspect who was restrained to a hospital bed because the man refused to give a urine sample to medical staff, authorities said. Antonio Wheeler, 18, was arrested Friday on a drug charge and taken to an emergency room after telling officers he had consumed cocaine, police said. Because Wheeler said he had used the drugs, Florida Hospital officials wanted a urine sample. A police affidavit said Wheeler wouldn't provide a sample on his own, so workers tried to catheterize him to get one. The police document said Wheeler was handcuffed to a hospital bed and then secured with leather straps after he refused to ...

A Republic, Not a Democracy

As Herr Schroeder was babbling on in Mainz, during his joint press conference with President Bush, about a need for carrots to coax Tehran off its nuclear program, Bush interrupted the chancellor to issue yet another demand – that "the Iranian government listen to the hopes and aspirations of the Iranian people." "We believe," said Bush, "that the voice of the people ought to be determining policy, because we believe in democracy…" Who, one wonders, is feeding the president his talking points? Is he unaware that the Iranian people, even opponents of the regime, believe Iran has a right to nuclear power and should retain the capacity to build ...

The Specter of Fascism

A specter is haunting post-9/11 America – the specter of fascism. Lew Rockwell calls it "red-state fascism," former Treasury official and conservative economist Paul Craig Roberts refers to "the brownshirting of the conservative movement," and Scott McConnell, editor of The American Conservative, while demurring that the rise of a homegrown authoritarian regime is somewhat problematic, also sees a potential problem and sounds a warning. All these writers, however, pose the threat as emanating exclusively from the American Right: it comes, avers Roberts, from "Bush's conservative supporters [who] want no debate. They want no facts, no analysis. They want to ...

American Hitler A cancer infects this country, spreading like wildfire, devouring the flesh of our society and threatening to turn what was once the greatest nation on Earth into a rotting corpse of political corruption, greed and abuse of power. This cancer has a name: George W. Bush. Yeah, yeah. Call me a Bush-basher if you want. I don’t give a damn. If you still support this madman check yourslef into the nearest psychiatric hospital for shock therapy. Somebody has to stand up against this American Hitler, this destroyer of freedom, this Devil with a drawl. I’ve watched a lot of dangerous men pass through the portals of politics in my lifetime: Demagogues like Senator ...

Are we a republic or a democracy? Walter E. Williams January 5, 2005 We often hear the claim that our nation is a democracy. That wasn't the vision of the founders. They saw democracy as another form of tyranny. If we've become a democracy, I guarantee you that the founders would be deeply disappointed by our betrayal of their vision. The founders intended, and laid out the ground rules, for our nation to be a republic. The word democracy appears nowhere in the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution -- two most fundamental documents of our nation. Instead of a democracy, the Constitution's Article IV, Section 4, guarantees "to every State in this Union a Republican Form of ...

"HOMELAND SECURITY" -- FOR WHAT AND FOR WHOM? (THE ESTABLISHMENT)

Why do so many Americans think that "homeland security" means what they think it means? Americans have learned the painful lesson that what "is" going on in politics and government these days all too often depends upon the secret, idiosyncratic definitions of "is", and many other words, that politicians and public officials are using. Of course, if a public official says something that he knows people will think means X, when in his own mind he means Y, he is lying. But such verbal legerdemain is difficult to expose, because the deceitful officeholder can always defend his statement as being literally true. Americans must therefore be perpetually on their ...

GAO: Terror suspects bought guns in U.S. By DONNA DE LA CRUZ ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER WASHINGTON -- More than 40 terror suspects on federal watch lists were allowed to buy firearms in the United States last year because background checks found no reason to stop them, says a government report released Tuesday. Under current law, belonging to a suspected terrorist organization does not prohibit a person from owning a gun, the Government Accountability Office noted in its study. The GAO recommended that the attorney general clarify procedures to ensure that information from gun purchase background checks is shared with counterterrorism officials and that the FBI should either monitor such ...

WASHINGTION -- A new smartcard, the type privacy advocates fear because it combines biometric data with radio tags, will soon be one of the most common ID cards in Washington. Department of Homeland Security workers in May will begin using the new ID card, called the DAC, to gain access to secure areas, log on to government computers and even pay their Metro subway fares. The DAC, which stands for Department of Homeland Security Access Card, will carry a digital copy of its bearer's fingerprint and other personally identifiable information. It will use radio-frequency identification and Bluetooth technologies to communicate with reader devices at the department's offices. "The ...

The Few, The Ornery, The Libertarians

I discovered libertarian political thought listening to radio fill-in host Brian Wilson on WBAL in Baltimore in the late ‘90s. He was an entertaining radio personality who kept interjecting the words “freedom” and “Founding Fathers” into his discussions with callers. He challenged his listeners to think and gave them reading assignments. As a consequence, I discovered a political philosophy that fit my worldview and personality. I want to contrast Wilson ’s show with that of Mark Scott’s, who was on the air in D.C. in the late ‘80s. I had my first introduction to Objectivism when a family friend gave me The Fountainhead to read when I was ...

The nine voodoo witch doctors in black robes, otherwise known as the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS), have undertaken upon themselves to rule on the constitutional validity of representations of the Ten Commandments on public (state) property. If past history is any guide, we can depend on the Supremes to cut off the heads of chickens, view the entrails, and maybe consult an Ouija board or two, as they try to discern the meaning of Constitution, especially the First Amendment. And it’s not like there are more pressing issues that the Supremes should be tackling ahead of this issue – like unconstitutional wars of aggression, torture, detentions, imprisonment, illegal ...

Not Time for Gunowners to Relax

With the sunsetting of the 1994 "Assault Weapons Ban" there may be fewer firearms restrictions on the federal level, but gunowners can't relax yet. Well-organized state level gun-prohibitionists are taking up where the feds left off, proposing and enacting draconian laws restricting your rights. (1) Earlier this year, California made waves in RKBA circles by banning the .50 caliber rifle. Similar prohibition campaigns against the .50 caliber have been launched in other state legislatures, including Connecticut, Maryland, Washington and Colorado. (2) Iowa's Senate recently introduced Senate Bill 207, which would criminalize the ownership of any "semiautomatic assault ...

Internet panel yesterday said they hope to set up a global system where cyberspace would be under the control of the United Nations. The committee, which was set up in December 2003, is laying the groundwork for the U.N.-sponsored World Summit on the Information Society where a final decision on the control of the Net will be determined, stated a Reuters report. The summit will take place in Tunis in November. The panel is considering such problems as cyber-crime and e-mail spam. ICANN, the International Corporation for ...

Bush wielding secrecy privilege to end suits (National security cited against challenges to anti-terror tactics)

WASHINGTON -- The Bush administration is aggressively wielding a rarely used executive power known as the state secrets privilege in an attempt to squash hard-hitting court challenges to its anti-terrorism campaign. How the White House is using this privilege, not a law but a series of legal precedents built on national security, disturbs some civil libertarians and open-government advocates because of its sweeping power. Judges almost never challenge the government's assertion of the privilege, and it can be fatal to a plaintiff's case. The government is invoking the privilege in an attempt to wipe out the heart of a lawsuit that seeks to examine rendition, the secretive and ...
