Union leader says some stations continue to follow Obama 'catch and release' directivesBrandon Judd, president of the National Border Patrol Council, told LifeZette that he raised concerns Thursday with U.S. Border Patrol Chief Ronald Vitiello. He said he is confident that issue soon will be corrected. But Judd said as recently as Thursday, some border patrol stations were still releasing border-jumpers, often without even issuing notices to appear in immigration court hearings. Obama’s policy was to release anyone claiming to have been living continuously in the United States since before Jan. 1, 2014, if they did not have criminal records or active warrants.“We’re ...

“MORE AMERICANS TARGETED BY FBI THAN MUSLIMS”: THE REAL SURVEILLANCE IS A TOOL OF CONTROL

As President Trump and supporters continue the push to levy an arbitrary travel ban from a smattering of predominantly Muslim countries, a debate rages in the United States about the validity — and effectiveness — of preventing terrorism by strangling immigration. Now, simple data can put that debate to rest. “Since January 2015, the FBI has also arrested more anti-immigrant American citizens plotting violent attacks on Muslims within the U.S. than it has refugees, or former refugees, from any banned country,” writes Nora Ellingsen for Lawfare. Ellingsen would know, too, after having worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Counterterrorism Division for ...

It appears that DACA is no longer being observed by ICE. Last Friday, agents arrested Daniel Ramirez Medina, who is 23 years-old and lives in Seattle, Washington. Medina came to this country illegally from Mexico when he was seven years-old, has no criminal record, has a job and has a a little boy. ICE had arrived at Medina’s father’s home to arrest him and found Daniel there. In the first case of its kind, the DACA recipient was taken into custody. I don’t know why the left is surprised by this and I don’t get the outrage. In the end, the guy is here illegally. He could have applied to become a citizen and chose not to. The law is the law.DACA protects from deportation ...

As we noted over the weekend, one of the immediate consequences of the Trump immigration executive order - and one which has so far gone largely unchallenged - has been a crackdown against illegal immigrants residing in the US. Following reports that first surfaced over the weekend that US immigration officials had launched countrywide raids and arrested hundreds of illegal aliens across the nation as a result of that immigration executive order, President Trump weighed in on Twitter, stating that "the crackdown on illegal criminals is merely the keeping of my campaign promise. Gang members, drug dealers & others are being removed!" Follow Donald J. Trump ✔ ...

An immigrant in Germany has been given a mild 20 month suspended jail sentence for sexually abusing a little girl in an asylum seekers home in Berlin that led to her father being gunned down by police. The victim’s mother Zaman burst into tears when she heard the verdict and cried out in the courtroom: “How can this be? He should be locked up in a place where he cannot do this again. He destroyed my life on this day.” The court heard how the 27-year-old man lured the six-year-old girl away to a quiet spot where he could assault her away from prying eyes. The attacker, Pakistani refugee Tayyab M. told the court in Germany it “didn’t’ matter” to him ...

Small Canadian towns are now creaking under the weight of refugees crossing the border illegally from AmericaSince the New Year, nearly 70 people have applied as refugees in Canada after illegally crossing the border from the United States In order for refugees in the U.S. to gain refugee status in Canada, they need to illegally cross the border - not show up to official checkpoints This has been putting a strain on rural towns along the border, which have been dealing with an influx of illegal immigrants In Manitoba, a center that had been set up to help these border crossers was full as of Sunday Another popular crossing point has been the town of Hemmingford, in ...

Texas, others move to deny funding to sanctuary cities

There are hundreds of sanctuary cities here in the US and they better think long and hard about it. Trump is going to cut off federal funding to cities, states and universities that declare themselves safe zones for illegal aliens. Now, many governors and state legislatures are following suit. Given the choice of following the rule of law and placating liberals and illegal aliens, I would hope that politicians and law enforcement would choose the law. In a number of these states, such as Texas for instance, they are going even further to hold sheriffs, politicians, etc. accountable under the law. If they are convicted of breaking the law, they are subject to being removed from office. ...

Mexican Migrants Signal They Prefer Detention to Deportation

PHOENIX—All but one of about 50 undocumented Mexican migrants at a meeting Saturday indicated they would rather risk detention and long court battles in the U.S. than return to Mexico voluntarily. The majority of migrants at the meeting in Phoenix, which included Mexican officials, signaled in a show of hands that they were ready to fight deportation in U.S. courts. “Even if that means detention for weeks?” asked former foreign minister Jorge Castaneda. “Even if it takes months,” shouted one woman. “Even if it takes years,” another yelled. “We are here to fight.” Mr. Castaneda and others want Mexico’s government to endorse a tough and ...

Chancellor Angela Merkel is setting aside €90m (£76m) in taxpayers’ money to create a fund which will pay migrants to withdraw their asylum applications and leave Germany voluntarily. The handouts will form part of a 16-point plan to speed up the removal of rejected asylum seekers, after Tunisian migrant Anis Amri murdered a Polish lorry driver, hijacked his vehicle and drove it into a Christmas market in Berlin while awaiting deportation.U.S. president Donald Trump told The Times that Merkel made a “catastrophic mistake” when she opened the doors to an unlimited number of migrants in 2015. The federal judge who halted President Donald Trump's travel ban was wrong in stating that no one from the seven countries targeted in Trump's order has been arrested for extremism in the United States since the 2001 terrorist attacks. In fact, as a new report finds, 72 individuals from the seven 'mostly Muslim countries' covered by President Trump's "extreme vetting" executive order have been convicted of terrorism since 9/11. ADVERTISING As AP first reported, during a hearing in Seattle last week, Judge Robartasked a Justice Department lawyer how many arrests of foreign nationals from the countries have occurred since 9/11. When the lawyer said she ...

Protesters blocked an onramp to the 101 freeway in Los Angeles Feb. 9, objecting to what they claim is a rise in immigration raids. (The Washington Post) The panicked emails and phone calls began streaming in from community members at about 11 a.m. Thursday morning, inundating Los Angeles immigration lawyers with far more cases than usual. Immigrant advocate groups claim that more than 100 people had been taken into custody by federal immigration officials in Southern California Thursday, indicating a “coordinated sweep” in arrests and heightening fears that Donald Trump’s promise to crackdown on deportations had begun to take effect. Police and immigration officials denied ...

Weighing in on one of the most contentious issues in American politics — the danger posed to host countries by the 4.8 million people who have fled from Syria’s civil war — Syrian President Bashar Assad told Yahoo News that some of the refugees are “definitely” terrorists. In an exclusive interview with Yahoo News at a presidential office in Damascus, Assad said President Trump’s freeze on admitting refugees from his country — part of an executive order that has drawn widespread protests and is being challenged in federal court — “is an American issue” on which he would not take sides. But asked if some of those who fled are “aligned ...

By Ryan Lovelace (@LovelaceRyanD) • 2/9/17 6:13 PMA federal appeals court decided to keep in place the temporary restraining order halting President Trump's immigration ban as other proceedings move through the lower courts."We hold that the government has not shown a likelihood of success on the merits of its appeal, nor has it shown that failure to enter a stay would cause irreparable injury, and we therefore deny its emergency motion for a stay," the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Thursday. The appeals court ripped the Justice Department for arguing that Trump's immigration action was not subject to judicial review. Democrats like to say Food Stamp fraud is a myth. They like to say it doesn’t happen. That public assistance is needed and used appropriately all the time. We’ve reported in the past on the Arizona Democrat who opposed welfare reform and was later busted for Food Stamp fraud. And then there was the Pennsylvania woman who was busted for claiming over $100,000 in benefits for non-existent children. Now, there’s this. An Iranian “millionaire” and son of a former Iranian prince was accused of getting thousands in food stamps despite his wealth. WKYC reported: “The wealthy son of an Iranian prince pleaded not guilty Friday to allegations that he falsely ...

HARVARD ECONOMIST: 42 PERCENT OF IMMIGRANT HOUSEHOLDS ON PUBLIC ASSISTANCE

A Harvard economist has found that nearly 42 percent of immigrant households in the United States are on public assistance of some kind. “In 2016, there were 8.9 million households headed by a non-citizen … almost 42 percent of those households received some type of assistance,” George Borjas, Professor of Economics and Social Policy at the Harvard Kennedy School, wrote on his website on Feb. 1. To come to his conclusions Borjas used census data from 1994 to 2016 to calculate how many of the migrant-headed households receive either money, food stamps, or Medicaid. According to Borjas, millions of households could be impacted if existing immigration laws are adhered to.
