Work and Play in Nicaragua by Bill Bonner We sat on the terrace of Antonio's house…listening to the waves on the beach below and eating lobster that had been pulled out of the ocean just in front of us.Antonio's family had owned the property and raised cattle and horses on it. After we showed him what we were doing, he decided to join us. He bought one of the best lots and built a house. It has three bedrooms and a roof made of palm leaves. The bedrooms are airconditioned, but the main section of the house is completely open -- looking out over a pool and the ocean behind it. The temperature is never too cold and never too hot -- with the help of the sea breeze -- so you ...

Three more cases of plague were found in Colorado after a man was reported to have the deadliest form of the disease last week. The man who got pneumonic plague is hospitalized. He is thought to have contracted the infection from his dog that was likely exposed to plague-infected fleas in eastern Adams County, near Denver. The three additional residents also had direct contact with the dog and had mild symptoms, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment in a statement today. They were treated with antibiotics, recovered, and are no longer contagious, the state agency said. Three of the cases are the first of pneumonic plague the state has seen in a decade, ...

The woman, who had legal custody of her four grandchildren, from ages 3 to 9, had noted strange behavior in her granddaughter. Upon ...

Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson warns that some parents of Central American children attempting to cross the U.S. border illegally already know of the risks, noting that some girls are given birth control “in case they’re raped along the way.” Speaking with the Senate Appropriations Committee last week, Johnson joined the Obama administration in attempting to warn Central American parents to stop sending their children on the dangerous route to entering the U.S. illegally. But Johnson said that he’s met with children and heard stories that some parents are very aware of the risks along the route. “I’ve met with enough of these kids now, including a ...

The federal government is so overwhelmed by the current tide of migrants crossing the border it can’t provide basic medical screening to all of the children before transporting them – often by air – to longer-term holding facilities across the country, ABC News has learned. The director of refugee health in the federal Health and Human Services Department “has identified a breakdown of the medical screening processes at the Nogales, Arizona, facility,” according to an internal Department of Defense memo reviewed by ABC News. The “breakdown” a systemic failure of the handoff of these children between CBP and HHS. Here’s What Obama Would See If He ...

The alleged crimes occurred after the man was released. The man, Pedro Alberto Monterroso-Navas, entered the U.S. illegally with children and turned himself in to U.S. Border Patrol agents. An illegal alien 35-year-old, who was deported at least four times in the past, was nabbed in Texas by sheriff's deputies after he allegedly sexually assaulted a 9-year-old girl who was sound-asleep in her home, according to a sheriff's report on Sunday. The Parker County, Texas, Sheriff's Office announced on Sunday that deputy sheriffs arrested Israel Andrade, who is a Mexican national with a record with federal immigration authorities, could face up to 20-years in federal prison for reentry after being deported at taxpayers' expense. According to the Parker County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to an emergency call on Saturday, after an adult female ...

The record flood of Central American children crossing the U.S. border is stretching funds and setting off improvisation at public schools. While politicians spend the summer fighting over how to turn back the tide, school leaders across the country are struggling to absorb a new student population the size of Newark, New Jersey. More than 40,000 children, many of them fresh from violent, harrowing journeys, have been released since October to stateside relatives as courts process their cases. "These kids were homesick and heartbroken," said Robin Hamby, a family specialist for Fairfax County Public Schools in suburban Washington, which began feeling the surge almost as soon ...

Last weekend, police in Asheville, North Carolina, arrested Celso Avila-Aguilar, 31, after he reportedly grabbed an officer's arm during a routine traffic stop, and dragged her some 130 feet down Interstate 240. Fortunately, the officer was not seriously injured. Around midnight on July 5, Officer Ann Fowler pulled over a Toyota Camry near the Charlotte Street exit after she observed the vehicle's operator, driving erratically. The driver, Avila-Aguilar, refused to cooperate and would not exit the vehicle, according to police. As Officer Fowler reached inside to remove Avila-Aguilar, the suspect grabbed her arm, held onto it and sped away, dragging Fowler alongside. She fought ...

NEW YORK – Mexico and Guatemala have reached an agreement that is intended to make it easier and safer for Central Americans, including unaccompanied minors, to enter the United States illegally. Though largely unreported in the U.S. mainstream media, the two nations agreed on July 7, in a presidential-level meeting in Mexico, to make it legal and safe for Central American immigrants, including unaccompanied minors, to cross Mexico’s border with Guatemala and transit Mexico en route to the U.S. border at the Rio Grande. The agreement apparently does not recognize that the result of such trips – entry into the United States – remains illegal. But to facilitate the ...

The current surge of Central American children and mothers across the border has made a travesty of the schmaltzy arguments long employed to rationalize the government’s winking at illegal immigration. George W. Bush famously assured us that we shouldn’t worry about illegal aliens because “Family values don’t stop at the Rio Grande River [sic].” Yet we are now witnessing the extreme cynicism of Central Americans dispatching their unaccompanied children and nursing mothers across the drug war zone of northern Mexico to exploit the talk of amnesty among American leaders. Similarly, we’ve been told that illegal aliens do the jobs that Americans won’t do, ...

Devvy - Why TX Gov Perry Won't Put Natl Guard On BorderBy Devvy Kidd Exclusive to Rense.com 7-11-14   I doubt there's a person in this country who doesn't know what's going on with the planned, massive invasion of human hordes coming across the border here in Texas this past month. A surge it's called. By the end of summer, it's estimated 90,000 illegal alien minors will have crossed. Anyone following current events in this country fully understands there is an agenda here: destroy our culture by force, import more tens of millions of peasant class people who come here to suck us dry. Dump them into unsustainable Ponzi schemes like Social Security, ...

As the White House plans to spend billions of taxpayer funds to take care of illegal immigrant children who are unlawfully entering the country, some black Americans who live in some of the most dangerous neighborhoods are wondering where they and their children can get refugee status and aid. On Friday's Laura Ingraham Show, Elaine, a black woman from Baltimore, expressed her outrage that President Barack Obama is putting the interests of illegal immigrant children above those of American citizens. Though the number of illegal immigrant children unlawfully entering the country has spiked since Obama unilaterally enacted his temporary amnesty program in 2012, the White House has said ...

According to Border Patrol sources, violent MS-13 gang members are using the Nogales processing center in Arizona as a recruitment hub and as a transfer point for gang members to get into the United States. The Red Cross has set up phone banks inside the processing center so unaccompanied minors can make phone calls to family members inside the United States and back home in Central America. According to sources, those phones are also being used by MS-13 members to communicate with gang members already in the United States and operating in cities like Atlanta, New York and Chicago. Further, many teenaged males inside the facility have approached Border Patrol agents and have said gang ...

DHS Blitzes CA With Buses Full of Illegal Immigrants, Busloads Being Dropped Off at Churches

The Border Patrol is being lied to by the federal government. That’s the only coherent conclusion one can come to when just last night BP agents confirmed there were no flights or buses scheduled in to southern California even though at that moment the fed was planning an all out assault on SoCal cities with buses loaded with illegal immigrants. I’m currently sitting in the parking lot of St Joseph’s Church in Fontana, CA. I just confirmed with church press secretary John Andrews that a DHS bus dropped off 40 illegal immigrants, one of them a sick infant that was taken to the hospital. Andrews did not know where the bus came from, but said the individuals were processed at a ...

The Homeland Security agency responsible for removing immigrants who are in the country illegally will run out of money by mid-August unless Congress approves President Barack Obama’s emergency request for $3.7 billion to help deal with a flood of child immigrants crossing the border illegally without their parents, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson says. Additionally, Customs and Border Protection, whose 20,000-plus Border Patrol agents are responsible for arresting illegal border crossers, will be out of money by mid-September at the “current burn rate,” Johnson told the Senate Appropriations Committee on Thursday as he defended the president’s emergency ...
