Washington state revokes illegal immigrant's drivers license

The state of Washington has canceled the driver’s license of a journalist who, in a New York Times Magazine article last month, revealed that for 14 years he kept a secret from his U.S. employers: He is an illegal immigrant. While illegal immigrants can still obtain drivers licenses in Washington, licensing officials said they canceled Jose Antonio Vargas’ driver’s license because he could not prove that he lived in the state when he obtained it, as required by law. In a piece he penned under the headline, “My life as an undocumented immigrant,” Vargas laid bare details of a life built on lies that started with his arrival as a 12-year-old on a fake passport from ...

Greek Tragedy Goes Global - by Stephen Lendman After Greece's government surrendered to banker occupation, trends analyst Gerald Celente told Russia Today that: America's "economy continues to decline. There's no recovery in sight." Across Europe in Greece, Britain and elsewhere, people are reacting against forced austerity to assure bankers get paid. In fact, Trends Journal months ago called it "off with their heads 2.0....The global ponzi scheme is under collapse....whether it's in Egypt, Tunisia, whether it's in the UK, Greece. Watch out for Spain. Here comes Italy. Ireland's coming up the backstretch. It's only going to get much worse." ...

Landmark US-Mexico trucking agreement resolves 15-year conflict

After years of wrangling, US and Mexican officials signed an agreement Wednesday that allows trucks from each nation to travel on the other country’s highways – a key provision of NAFTA. The United States and Mexico on Wednesday signed an agreement aimed at resolving a cross-border trucking dispute. The longstanding disagreement had come to symbolize growing resistance, especially in the US Congress, to free-trade provisions with America’s southern neighbor. The accord, signed in Mexico City by US and Mexican transportation officials, would end a 15-year-old controversy that on the US side featured fears of unsafe Mexican trucks barreling along US highways, driven by ...

Michigan Dairy Farmer Fined $2.7 Million for Hiring 78 Illegal Aliens Representing 75% of Workforce A Michigan dairy farm and its two owners pleaded guilty this week to charges of employing illegal aliens, following an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Johannes Martinus Verhaar and Anthonia Marjanne Verhaar own Aquila Farms LLC., a dairy operation based in Bad Axe, Mich. Court records revealed that from about 2000 through 2007, the dairy employed 78 different illegal aliens, which constituted almost 75 percent of its workforce over that time period. Aquila Farms failed to conduct the necessary inquiries to ...

In a news release  Saturday, the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Webb County Sheriff's Office said their sources indicated that the Zetas drug cartel was "planning to target U.S. citizens who travel to Nuevo Laredo this weekend."  Steven C. The High Price Today of Immigration Reform in 1965
Post Date: 2011-07-01 19:09:46 by X-15

America's current mass immigration mess is the result of a change in the laws in 1965. Prior to 1965, despite some changes in the 50's, America was a low-immigration country basically living under immigration laws written in 1924. Thanks to low immigration, the swamp of cheap labor was largely drained during this period, America became a fundamentally middle-class society, and our many European ethnic groups were brought together into a common national culture. In some ways, this achievement was so complete that we started to take for granted what we had achieved and forgot why it happened. So in a spasm of sentimentality on the Right and lies on the Left, we opened the borders. ...

Business lobby helps scuttle immigration curbs in Texas

Powerful business interests helped to scuttle proposed immigration restrictions in Texas on Wednesday, further evidence that Republicans in some states are facing resistance among their own supporters to an immigration clampdown. A so-called "sanctuary cities" bill that would have allowed a crackdown on cities providing sanctuary to illegal immigrants died when the Texas legislature adjourned for another two years without passing it. Since Arizona last year enacted sweeping restrictions on immigration and blamed the federal government for failing to pass national reforms, civil rights activists have feared that the crackdown would spread across the country. Many watched Texas ...

ZEPHYR COVE, Nev. (CBS13) – He congratulated the graduating class of 2011, but one but one principal’s commencement speech actually offended some in the crowd. The graduating class at Whittell High School has only 30 students. Just a few weeks ago during graduation their principal gave an encouraging speech congratulating his students and their parents. “Class of 2011, I want to congratulate you for all your accomplishments this year,” said Principal Crespin Esquivel. He then said the same thing in Spanish, making sure his commencement speech could also be understood by his Spanish speaking parents and students who make up the second largest group of the school. ...

Sen. Dick Durbin plans to make a full-court press Tuesday to revive the debate over a controversial proposal to give illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children a path to legal status, as the Obama administration moves on a separate track to grant what some describe as "amnesty" to the same group. Durbin, D-Ill., in announcing the first-ever Senate hearing on the so-called DREAM Act, said his proposal would "make our country stronger." Under the plan, which passed the House last year but died in the Senate, illegal immigrants who came here as children and complete two years of college or military service could earn legal status. Several top administration ...

Journalist Jose Antonio Vargas Comes Out as an Illegal Immigrant
Post Date: 2011-06-22 20:39:40 by Horse

The Washington Post's Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter Jose Antonio Vargas came out as an undocumented immigrant in a New York Times Magazine article today. The lengthy piece details his secret life, which he lived while excelling as a journalist and, outwardly, a U.S. citizen. He learned when he was 16 that his family had used fake documentation to get him to the U.S., and over the years, he kept up the illusion. But he says it was four students' pilgrimage from Miami to Washington, D.C., to lobby for the Dream Act that inspired him to go public with his own immigration status. There are believed to be 11 million undocumented immigrants in the United States. We’re not always ...

AZ Sheriff: Why More Troops at Korean Border Than U.S. Border?

> AZ Sheriff: Why More Troops at Korean Border Than U.S. Border?Monday, June 20, 2011By Penny Starr (CNSNews.com) – Arizona Sheriff Paul Babeu said the Obama administration’s decision to extend the deployment of 1,200 U.S. National Guard troops along the U.S. border with Mexico until Sept. 30 is “pandering” and that those numbers “fall far short” of what military power is needed to keep the country safe. Babeu noted, for comparison, the 28,500 U.S. troops stationed in South Korea to help defend it against North Korean aggression; U.S. troops have been stationed in South Korea for 58 years. Babeu is the sheriff of Pinal County in southern Arizona and is on ...

Dwarfed by surrounding reporters and with her head bowed to avoid the television cameras, the slender 16-year-old hesitated slightly before she answered the question. "I'm a hitwoman," she said. Maria Celeste Mendoza was among six teenage suspected gang members arrested this week by police after a shoot-out with authorities in central Mexico, one of the growing ranks of young people working for the country's drug cartels. Dressed in combat fatigues and with her face hidden, the girl from the northern border state of Tamaulipas described how she had been trained to use Kalashnikov assault rifles and other weapons by the Zetas, one of Mexico's most brutal gangs. In a ...

“Why Aren’t You Speaking English?”

During committee testimony this week in Austin, a Texas senator interrupted a Spanish speaker and telling him he should "be speaking in English" during a committee hearing. Antolin Aguirre of the Austin Immigrant Rights Coalition was testifying against Senate Bill 9 that would help crack down on illegal immigrants in Texas. Aguirre spoke through an interpreter even though he had been in the U.S. since 1988. Two minutes into Antolin Aguirre’s testimony, Sen. Chris Harris, a Republican from Arlington, interrupted asking Aguirre’s interrupter, "Did I understand him correctly that he has been here since 1988?" Harris asked. "Why aren’t you speaking in ...

Protest Sign: 'We Will Shoot More Police in Arizona' A sign held by one of the protesters in this viral image of a May Day immigration reform rally reads: "Give Us Free Health Care, Jobs, No Taxes, House, Food. You Owe Us America! We Will Shoot More Police in Arizona Until We Get Free!" Despite the widespread claim that it was taken in Phoenix, Arizona, visual landmarks indicate the photo was snapped in Los Angeles, where a large pro-immigrant demonstration did take place on May 1, 2010. So far no one has been able to authenticate the image, which many suspect was Photoshopped to alter the wording of the sign. Any information on its provenance, particularly with ...

Friends of ALIPAC, Time is very short. We just received disturbing news that five or more NC GOP Senate leaders just gutted HB 36 provisions thus protecting illegal alien workers. They changed HB 36 which was passed by the NC House with a large margin. The house version required all businesses doing work for the state and all NC employers with more than 24 employees to screen new hires with the accurate and free E-Verify system. This bill would have opened up tens of thousands of jobs that are being stolen by illegal aliens at a time when American workers face record unemployment, underemployment, bankruptcy, eviction, and foreclosure! At least five NC GOP senators are responsible for ...

Cartels have taken cruelty up a notch, says one drug trafficker: kidnapping bus passengers for gladiatorlike fights to the death The elderly are killed. Young women are raped. And able-bodied men are given hammers, machetes and sticks and forced to fight to the death. In one of the most chilling revelations yet about the violence in Mexico, a drug cartel-connected trafficker claims fellow gangsters have kidnapped highway bus passengers and forced them into gladiatorlike fights to groom fresh assassins. In an in-person interview arranged by intermediaries on the condition that neither his name nor the location of his Texas visit be published, the trafficker also admitted to helping push ...
