Sun Jun 17, 3:50 PM ET The Senate's top Republican said Sunday he could not predict whether stalled immigration legislation will pass, citing questions among conservatives as to whether it guarantees amnesty to illegal immigrants. "It's a mixed picture," said Sen. Mitch McConnell (news, bio, voting record), R-Ky., who called the vote, which is expected before lawmakers begin their Fourth of July vacation, too close to call. "There are good things in the bill, and not so good things in the bill." McConnell and Majority Leader Harry Reid (news, bio, voting record) of Nevada last week said they planned to revive the legislation after critics of the measure ...

Colorado Governor Richard D. Lamm Describes How to Desroy America

We know Dick Lamm as the former Governor of Colorado. In that context his thoughts are particularly poignant. Last week there was an immigration overpopulation conference in Washington, DC, filled to capacity by many of America's finest minds and leaders. A brilliant college professor by the name of Victor Hansen Davis talked about his latest book, "Mexifornia," explaining how immigration - both legal and illegal was destroying the entire state of California. He said it would march across the country until it destroyed all vestiges of The American Dream. Moments later, former Colorado Governor Richard D. Lamm stood up and gave a stunning speech on how to destroy America. The ...

Tentative agreement reached on immigration Bill to return to Senate floor next week, no predictions on passageThe Associated PressWASHINGTON - Left for dead a week ago, legislation to strengthen border security while bestowing legal status on millions of illegal immigrants is showing signs of life. President Bush said on Friday it's time for Congress to act."Each day our nation fails to act, the problem only grows worse," the president said at the National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast. "I will continue to work closely with members of both parties, to get past our differences, and pass a bill I can sign this year."Senate leaders announced plans Thursday night to revive ...

Ehrlich - Plan To Attend America's Funeral By Ehrlich 6-15-7 Dear Friends, I am going to say it till you can't tolerate hearing it anymore. If this bill gets passed, the USA is finished. Not defeated. Finished. The USA exists as a conquered nation. When this bill passes it no longer exists. If this is the world you don't want then don't just exist...live...pay respect and homage to all those who have suffered to hand you what you have squandered. Who will truly hate you is the future generations for sitting there so blind and stupid to the rape of the nation and the opening of the gates to the nation's death. They will live miserable lives and they will read all ...

Certain Death Of The United States By Frosty Wooldridge 6-15-7 Did you hear the story on Mitt Romney that proves amusing? He talks on gays, guns, abortion, immigration and the war in Iraq. Like many shyster politicians he flip-flops faster than a pancake cook at I-HOP. We must view Romney and all politicians like a popular summer footwear: Crocs! Let's face it; Senator Teddy Kennedy symbolizes the Typhoid Mary of immigration. He infected this nation with the 1965 Immigration Reform Act. He injected us with the 1986 amnesty and today, he plunges a dagger into the heart of our civilization with S. 1348. He's not alone. While Kennedy did nothing to uphold our laws following 1986, ...

My longtime friend Richard A. Viguerie issued a press release congratulating grassroots America for killing the Immigration Bill. I hope Richard is right. I fear he is not. In all of the years I have been here I never have known a time when the establishment really wants something that the establishment cannot obtain it. And the establishment really wants this bill. Some critics point to the need for cloture, saying that proponents have too far to go before they can proceed with debate. Wrong. If the Republicans point to those amendments upon which they insist there be a vote, if that is a reasonable number (and it would be because Minority Leader Mitch McConnell wanted to pass the bill), ...

Officials Hope to Rekindle Interest in Immigration Bill Provision By Donna Miles American Forces Press Service WASHINGTON, June 11, 2007 – A senior defense official expressed hope today that a provision in the stalled immigration bill that would have allowed some undocumented aliens to join the military won’t fall off the radar screen. The Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors, or DREAM, provision in the immigration bill was expected to help boost military recruiting, Bill Carr, acting deputy undersecretary of defense for military personnel policy, said today during a telephone conference with veterans’ group representatives. The DREAM provision offered a ...

Schwarzenegger: Turn Off Spanish TV Schwarzenegger: Immigrants Should Avoid Spanish-Language Media to Learn English The Associated Press SAN JOSE, Calif. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger told a gathering of Hispanic journalists that immigrants should avoid Spanish-language media if they want to learn English quickly. "You've got to turn off the Spanish television set" and avoid Spanish-language television, books and newspapers, the Republican governor said Wednesday night at the annual convention of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists. "You're just forced to speak English, and that just makes you learn the language faster," Schwarzenegger said. ...

Monetary Causes of the Immigration Crisis

There is nothing mysterious about the U.S. immigration crisis, or the presence of twelve million or more illegal aliens, or the fact that many more are coming to a neighborhood near you. They are coming to the U.S. because they are human beings who have to eat. They have to eat because they want to live. They cannot eat and live in their own countries because there are no jobs. There are no jobs because the monetary policies of the “Washington Consensus” have wrecked their economies. It has wrecked their economies in order to benefit the financiers who are behind the Washington Consensus, including the ones in their own countries who act as partners in running the lending ...

Poll: Voters Want Smaller Steps to Immigration Reform With Focus on Enforcement (Only 20% Support Bill)

Just 20% of American voters want Congress to try and pass the immigration reform bill that failed in the Senate last week. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 51% would like their legislators to “take smaller steps towards reform” while 16% believe they should wait until next year. The survey was conducted on Monday and Tuesday night as the President was publicly attempting to rally support for the legislation. Sixty-nine percent (69%) of voters would favor an approach that focuses exclusively on “exclusively on securing the border and reducing illegal immigration.” Support for the enforcement only approach comes from 84% of Republicans, 55% of ...

A History of the White Race

Chapter 67: The Changing Face: Non-White Immigration into the White Heartlands The dominating theme of European history in the last quarter of the 20th Century has been the large scale immigration of non-White peoples and races into the modern era White heartlands of Europe, Australia/New Zealand and North America. This process has taken place via two avenues: legal immigration and illegal immigration: it is difficult to formulate estimates on which has been the greater. Whatever the channel used, the reality of masses of non-Whites settling in these territories can quite rightly said to be changing the face of these continents. EUROPE ... THE UNITED STATES POPULATION IN TRANSITION

From Changing America, A Report of the Council of Economic Advisers As the new century looms, the population of the United States continues to grow increasingly diverse. In recent years, Hispanics and minority racial groups (defined here as racial and ethnic groups that make up less than 50 percent of the population and include non-Hispanic blacks, Asians and American Indians) have each grown faster than the population as a whole. In 1970 these groups together represented only 16 percent of the population. By 1998 this share had increased to 27 percent. Assuming current trends continue, the Bureau of the Census projects that these groups will account for almost half of the U.S. population ...

Importing Poverty: Immigration and Poverty in the United States: A Book of Charts Introduction In 1963, President Lyndon Johnson launched the War on Poverty with the goal of eliminating poverty in the United States. Since that time, the U.S. has spent over $11 trillion on anti-poverty programs, providing cash, food, housing, medical care, and services to the poor and near poor. Today, government provides a generous system of benefits and services to both the working and non-working poor. While government continues its massive efforts to reduce poverty, immigration policy in the U.S. has come to operate in the opposite direction, increasing rather than decreasing poverty. Immigrants with ...

Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965

I guess it is time to clear the air on immigration, and point some fingers where they belong. I thought than when I mentioned the changes made in the 1960s to immigration law that people understood, or, if they did not, they would ask. That is why I put up the two posts on the costs of cheap labor. I now understand, or at least expect, that most do not know of the changes that were made to immigration law, and why things have changed so much in America over the last 40 years. Read on, and enjoy, but probably not. The Immigration and Nationality Act amendments of 1965 (Hart-Celler Act, INS Act of 1965, Pub.L. 89-236) abolished the national-origin quotas that had been in place in the ...

Opponents of comprehensive immigration reform are undoubtedly congratulating themselves on the apparent demise yesterday of S. 1348. The bill failed to win enough votes in the Senate for cloture and a final vote. Leading the charge to defeat the bill were a group of Republicans opposed to just about any legalization or expansion of visas for low-skilled workers. We’ve made the case at the Center for Trade Policy Studies for an immigration system that recognizes the need of our growing economy for more foreign-born workers and the benefits we would enjoy from more legal immigration. The only alternative offered by opponents of reform is to spend more on the same enforcement efforts ...

Last week, in one of the great uprisings of modern politics, Middle America rose up and body-slammed the national establishment. The Bush-Kennedy-McCain amnesty for 12 million to 20 million illegal aliens, and for the businesses that have hired them – a bill backed by La Raza and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post – went down to crushing defeat. Majority Leader Harry Reid fell 15 votes short (45 to 50) of shutting off debate. Like the rout of the Dubai ports deal, the victory was achieved by a firestorm of public protest, reflected in millions of phone calls and e-mails, and citizens marching to town meetings. The capital's ...

Amnesty Opponents Are Not Un-AmericanJune 11, 2007   Although action in the United States Senate this week has slowed passage of the amnesty bill, it is not yet dead as President Bush remains committed to this approach.  That is why the President recently suggested that those of us who oppose amnesty for illegal immigrants are unpatriotic.  Those of us who strongly oppose the new immigration reform bill before the Senate “don't want to do what's right for America ,” the president said.  I reject that assessment as unfair and inaccurate.   Supporters of the amnesty bill like to claim that border protection is their first priority.  But if ...

There has been a lot made of the fact that I keep pointing out the FACT that the media in the United States always has an alternative motive in everything it prints. I am shocked that a number of people who post often in 4um would disagree with me. In fact, several have claimed that I am an apologist for the illegal immigrants coming into the states, simply because I point out why they have come, and mention how impossible it is to stop the flood unless you first fix the problem, which is not the illegals, but the United States government. I have made several posts pointing out what is behind the flood, including benefits paid to the illegals, legally, and the passage of NAFTA in ...

Monday Jun 11, 2007 12:32:49 EDT Three Texas National Guard soldiers on duty along the U.S.-Mexico border were arrested June 9, accused of smuggling illegal immigrants, according to a press release from the Texas Guard. U.S. Customs and Border Protection Border Patrol agents initiated the investigation and the soldiers are being held by civilian law enforcement officials. Texas military officials are cooperating with the Border Patrol and will decide later if any future military justice actions against the soldiers are appropriate, according to the press release. “Our military service members have an affirmative obligation to be actively supportive of our law enforcement partners ...
