ALBANY-- After a fallout last year over Gov. Eliot Spitzer's failed plan to allow illegal immigrants to obtain drivers' licenses, more than 1,000 immigrants rallied on the steps of the Capitol on Monday to demand a new initiative from Spitzer: a $100 million citizenship program to fund education and legal services to help immigrants assimilate more easily. The crowd was made up of a diverse mix of immigrants - from Russia, Mexico, Africa, Korea, Haiti and other countries - that now call the state home. The $100 million citizenship initiative would fund English-learning classes for children and adults, provide legal assistance to help eligible immigrants through the citizenship ...

The American publics distaste for and mistrust of the New York Times is understandable. How else would Americans view a paper that would editorially welcome Republicans arriving in town for their 2004 convention with the suggestion they should embrace a policy of amnesty for illegal aliens in order to attract Hispanic and moderate voters, but should avoid using the word amnesty when describing the policy to voters? Attempting to dupe a major political party into duping the American people doesnt exactly burnish a media outlets image with said people as a trusted and friendly source for news and opinion. Nevertheless, Americans should treat as probably ...
Crisis in Mexico Is Headed North Post Date: 2008-02-24 15:53:03 by DeaconBenjamin

The perfect storm for social upheaval is now brewing in Mexico and in particular Mexico's northern states along the U.S. border. The first storm front is to the east at a place called Cantarell. Long a blessing, Cantarell is Mexico's largest oil field and largest source of government funds. Output from Cantarell is down more than 15 percent from last year and many believe the field is now in irreversible decline. Thus, government budgets are being strained. The second front is to the north. As the U.S. economy has slowed so have remittances from the United States to Mexico. The housing crunch has disproportionately affected Mexican labor (both legal and illegal). As ...

In the U.S., there are an estimated 12,000,000-20,000,000 illegal, unknown latino immigrants. If we take the average of those two estimates, we obtain a figure of 16,000,000 illegal, unknown latino (overwhelmingly Mexican) immigrants. You ask, why do I present this mathematical exercise? Let me explain... If ONLY 3% (480,000) - 5% (800,000) of these people were to drop their brooms, rakes, shovels, trowels, dust mops, etc., pick up machetes and march on Washington-we could not stop them. For a moment, think about that. Think about that and what it portends for our future. According to International Law, The country of Mexico, by allowing this unchecked exodus, has committed an overt Act ...

During a Democratic presidential debate in Austin, Texas, Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton said they would consider suspending work site immigration raids until Congress passes an immigration overhaul which includes a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants. Clinton said she would request such legislation in the first 100 days of her administration. When we see whats been happening, with literally babies being left with no one to take care of them, children coming home from school, no responsible adult left, that is not the America that I know, Clinton said. Other immigration highlights from the debate: Clinton: We need a path to legalization, to ...

Jetton: Lazy Missourians could learn from Mexicans Friday, February 22, 2008 By RUDI KELLER ~ Southeast Missourian JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- A lot of lazy Missourians, including many in Southeast Missouri, could benefit from adopting the work ethic of Mexican immigrants, House Speaker Rod Jetton said Thursday. Jetton, speaking to publishers, editors and reporters at the Missouri Governor's Mansion, made an example of Wayne County residents in his 156th Missouri House District. In 2004, an employer who considered moving to Wayne County, which had one of the highest unemployment rates in the state at the time, was able to attract only three applicants, Jetton said. The jobs weren't ...

In what may have been the first hint of victory for opponents of the Trans Texas Corridor, a high-ranking Texas Department of Transportation official said Thursday he regretted his agency's communication failures and said one proposed version of the corridor, a 10-lane super highway with rail and utility pathways, will "probably not" be built in East Texas, based on the overwhelming resistance to the idea expressed at public hearings on the project this month. Phillip Russell, assistant executive director for innovative project development at TxDOT, was the keynote speaker at the Lone Star Legislative Summit at SFA Thursday, where he told listeners that "a lot of people ...

Poster Comment:A national dance craze in Ivory Coast has spawned a black market in treatments claiming to increase one's bottom size. The dance in question has been inspired by DJ Mix and DJ Eloh's hit song Bobaraba, which means "big bottom" in the local Djoula language. When it plays you can be guaranteed that the dance floor will be packed with people shaking their derrieres. Even Ivorian footballers have adopted the moves and could be seen wiggling their bottoms in a curious on-pitch dance after each goal scored during the just-ended ...
Muslim Inbreeding (My Title) Post Date: 2008-02-18 15:34:59 by YertleTurtle

Many prominent neoconservatives are calling on America not only to conquer Iraq (and perhaps more Muslim nations after that), but also to rebuild Iraqi society in order to jumpstart the democratization of the Middle East. Yet, Americans know so little about the Middle East that few of us are even aware of one of one of the building blocks of Arab Muslim cultures -- cousin marriage. Not surprisingly, we are almost utterly innocent of any understanding of how much the high degree of inbreeding in Iraq could interfere with our nation building ambitions. In Iraq, as in much of the region, nearly half of all married couples are first or second cousins to each other. A 1986 study of 4,500 ...

I dont think the problem of illegal immigration will ever be solved until we have a healthy, thriving economy. The talk must stop. We must secure our borders now. A nation without secure borders is no nation at all. It makes no sense to fight terrorists abroad when our own front door is left unlocked. This is my six point plan: Click for Full Text!

When Obama, Clinton and McCain Decisively Agreed By Terence Jeffrey One thing Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and John McCain all have in common is that they voted to give retroactive Social Security benefits to illegal aliens who committed document fraud. Indeed, McCain voted for it before he was against it. On May 18, 2006, when the immigration reform proposal advocated by McCain was on the Senate floor, Sen. John Ensign of Nevada offered an amendment. As written, the bill immunized illegal aliens from being prosecuted for document fraud, including using a stolen, or a fake, Social Security number. Additionally, the bill did not stop the current practice of allowing aliens who are ...

Editor's note: The writer is a resident of Eliot, Maine, and a GOP candidate in Maine's 1st Congressional District. One of the great travesties of the Bush administration has been an unwillingness to deal with the crisis of illegal immigration. One of the greatest travesties of the Baldacci administration is an executive order issued in 2004 that has transformed our state into a sanctuary for illegal aliens. The citizens of Maine and the Legislature were never asked if they approved of such an appalling decision. The governor took it upon himself to devise a plan to welcome illegals to Maine and to force the taxpayers to support them with the vast array of welfare benefits that ...

The latest projections by the non-partisan research group are higher than government estimates to date and paint a portrait of an America dramatically different from today's. The projected growth in the U.S. population 303 million today will be driven primarily by immigration among all groups except the elderly.

I've been down with the wall for years and years and years. No more! I can't trust these people to not actually BUILD ANOTHER BERLIN WALL! Honorable men would keep the invaders out. McNuts would build it, give daisy-chain Amnesty to TENS upon TENS OF MILLIONS MORE (than the 20,000,000+ already here) and then THROW US ALL IN DETENTION CAMPS. Some will want to flee with families, rightfully so. NO WALLS! It's already over now, forget the damned border security. Too late!

Kidnappings of U.S. citizens on rise. Sophisticated Mexican groups plot abductions Post Date: 2008-02-06 22:26:26 by Horse

Organized, well-financed and violent Mexican kidnapping cells are targeting a growing number of U.S. citizens visiting communities popular with San Diegans and other California residents. Last year, at least 26 San Diego County residents were kidnapped and held for ransom in Tijuana, Rosarito Beach or Ensenada, local FBI agents overseeing the cases said yesterday. In 2006, at least 11 county residents had been kidnapped in the three communities. Some of the 26 were recovered, some were hurt and some were killed, said agent Alex Horan, who directs the FBI's violent-crime squad in San Diego. It's not a pleasant experience. Victims have reported beatings, torture ...

Immigrants hit hard by U.S. slowdown and subprime crisis Post Date: 2008-01-30 14:19:02 by richard9151

2 hours, 51 minutes ago WASHINGTON (Reuters) - As an economic slowdown and the subprime mortgage crisis deepen across the United States, Hispanic immigrants are increasingly in danger of losing their jobs and their homes. Both legal and illegal immigrants joined Americans in buying homes they could barely afford when the market spiraled upward and many have been caught with mortgages higher than the value of their homes as prices have slumped in the past year. Just as subprime mortgage payments rose and house prices fell, the economy's slowdown has hurt the construction sector, which employs large numbers of Hispanics and other immigrants. Unemployment among Hispanics in the ...
'Sanctuary Church' Shelters Another Illegal Alien Post Date: 2008-01-28 17:42:31 by X-15

Chicago's Adalberto United Methodist Church is helping illegal immigrant Flor Crisostomo defy a federal deportation order by giving her "sanctuary" inside the church. Adalberto was earlier in the news for giving another illegal alien, Elvira Arellano, "sanctuary" for a year. Arellano was eventually caught and shipped back to Mexico after leaving the church and visiting Los Angeles as part of a "consciousness raising" exercise to focus attention on the "plight" of illegal aliens. Flor Crisostomo is also apparently being used to bring attention to the "injustice" of US immigration law. Her case will probably be the focus of various law ...

Ulster, one of the four traditional kingdoms of Ireland, was only 20 miles across the channel from Scotland. In 1603, a laird of northern Ayrshire (Scotland), Hugh Montgomery, learned that Con ONiell was in prison. ONiell was a chieftain of large properties in County Down, and County Antrium. Montgomery proposed to ONiell a bargain. He could effect the escape and pardon of ONiell, if in return, ONiell would grant him half of his lands. The escape and pardon was achieved, but the granting of lands to Montgomery, was denied by King James. Montgomery sought the aid of another Ayrshire laird, James Hamilton, who had great influence with the King. With a ...
