"The aim of public education is not to spread enlightenment at all; it is simply to reduce as many individuals as possible to the same safe level, to breed and train a standardized citizenry, to down dissent and originality. That is its aim in the United States, whatever pretensions of politicians, pedagogues other such mountebanks, and that is its aim everywhere else."

Seeking ideas to Jump Start Anti-War Movement

As most of you are aware events in America are continuing to deteriorate. There have been attempts to fight back including the Ron Paul movement, Tea Parties and activism against illegal immigration. All noble efforts. But the problem is two fold. One is most Americans have become meek and apathetic which leaves few to fight. The other is the neocon globalist clan of lunatics will never response to these tactics. One of the great political mysteries is the apathy of the anti-war movement. More so now under Obama but barely a whisper under Bush. I think most of the folks here understand why this is and who funded the peace movements in the past. In any case, we can understand that the war ...

Santa Cruz homeless protest relocated to City Hall lawn: Officials vow to enforce camping ban

SANTA CRUZ -- One person was ticketed when a six-week protest of the Santa Cruz camping ban took up residence on the City Hall lawn early Wednesday. The so-called Peace Camp 2010 changed tactics overnight when campers moved their demonstration from the county courthouse steps to the city property. Protest leader Christopher Doyon said they moved so they could better target the city ordinance that prohibits camping from 11 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning, a few men rested under a tree on the City Hall lawn while a woman and her puppy sat amid cardboard protest signs. "We have not heard anything from City Hall," the woman, who goes by Red, said. "Basically, we'd like ...

Poker Face will not play benefit for Towne

No Lehigh Valley congressional candidate wants to spend the day defending himself from accusations that he consorts with anti-Semites or with a group that pays homage to the president of the Confederacy and puts the rebel flag at the top of its annual picnic flier. But that's what Jake Towne did Wednesday. Towne, an independent running for the 15th District seat, decided his benefit concert on Friday should not include the controversial band Poker Face, denounced by the Anti-Defamation League for making anti-Semitic comments. Republican incumbent Charlie Dent over the weekend used the ADL's criticism to bolster his position that Towne, who pols say could appeal to some of the ...

The Peace Movement's Progress By David Swanson The peace movement has made significant progress in the United States since its low point of late 2008, and just about everything anyone in it has done has been a contribution. If everyone keeps doing what they're doing, and more of it, we might just end some wars, eventually. But I think some techniques are working better than others, and that pursuing the most strategic approaches would make victory likelier sooner and longer-lasting when it comes. I think the peace movement bottomed out in late 2008 for two reasons above all others. One was the election of a Democratic president. I wasn't around for Wilson, FDR, or LBJ, but ...

> www.StandWithArizona.com This Fourth of July weekend, a border watch will be going on in Southern Arizona under the close scrutiny of the Cochise County Militia. Tom Fellows came to Tombstone from Prescott to meet up with the border watch group. His truck was stocked with folding chairs and plenty of water. "You sit there all day and keep our eyes open," Fellows said. Fellows says he wants to bring attention to an issue often left in the dust. www.StandwithArizona.comwww.facebook.com/StandWithArizona Poster Comment:Awesome! Not that much different than the Minutemen really, except that the Militia are more consistently trained, and in some cases better equipped. Some ...

A Tea Party to Nowhere
Post Date: 2010-06-13 18:58:15 by AGAviator

The Tea Party phenomenon has attracted a good deal of both good and bad attention in the media. Though it would perhaps be a stretch to describe it as a movement in that it has only limited organization and focus, it does tap into a genuine disconnect between the American people and the federal government in Washington. Most Tea Partiers claim to want smaller and cheaper government, less interference from Washington in their daily lives, and fewer programs that are intended to socially re-engineer the nation. So far, so good, but then comes the huge failure to comprehend that is as wide as the Grand Canyon. Most also want a strong, assertive national defense and are supporters of an ...
