Favorite BoobTube Shows? Post Date: 2006-10-10 18:50:41 by IndieTX

Anyone wish to volunteer the fact that they've wasted time on at least ONE TV series so far this season and what their fav(s) are?
Poster Comment:I'll go first. The only shows I've been sucked into, and therefore have committed moral debouchery, have been "Jericho," "Shark," and all 3 "CSI's." "Cold Case," "Without A Trace," and "Numbers," ain't half bad either. I apologize publicly for my moral weakness in occasionally succumbing to this siren of cheap and short-lived highs and one night stands, marketed and produced by you-know-whats.

3 Blondes apply for police force... Post Date: 2006-10-05 10:04:09 by jessejane

Three Blondes were all applying for the last available position on the police force. The detective conducting the interview looked at the three of them and said, "So y'all want to be cops, huh?" The blondes all nodded. The detective got up, opened a file drawer and pulled out a folder. Sitting back down, he opened it and pulled out a picture, and said, "To be a police officer, you have to be able to detect. You must be able to notice things such as distinguishing features and oddities such as scars and so forth." So saying, he stuck the photo in the face of the first blonde and withdrew it after about two seconds. "Now," he said, "did you notice any ...

Forming Political Clubs - any interest in your area? Post Date: 2006-09-29 15:32:46 by mehitable

Okay, so we know the Dems and Pubs are both useless sides of the same coin and as long as the corporatists can buy the pols at the top, just working through regular party politics is pretty useless. Or so it seems anyway. Perhaps I am too pessimistic. Anyway, I am wondering about starting political talk/action groups in local area - not affiliated with any party, or even a particular philosopy, but just to give people a place to meet, exchange info, debate, have duels :) etc. It seems like we need some new paradigms. I'd like people to get past the rigidity and partisan thinking involved with current political parties and systems and be able to speak honestly and freely and at length. It ...
Has Habeas Corpus been eliminated for "enemy combatants"? Post Date: 2006-09-28 18:01:48 by mehitable

It's been an extremely hectic day so I've not been able to follow this. From hearing snatches of Randi Rhodes it sounds like there was a vote in Congress today that would give POTUS the power to hold enemy combatants without right of appeal to a judge - in effect eliminating habeas corpus. I don't know what the definition of "enemy combatant" is, but I would guess most of us on this site would probably qualify, LMAO. Any info/ideas on this?
White Males Are Some of My Best Friends Post Date: 2006-09-27 22:03:54 by a vast rightwing conspirator

This was said by a CIO (a black woman) at a public meeting. The audience were employees of the company she is CIOing for. What should be done about it? Remember, it was Goebbles or Himmler who said, 'some of my best friends are Jews', when charged with anti-Semitism. But, he was an anti-Semite. This woman is quite well educated and she clearly knew what she was talking about so she clearly implied that she is a rabid racist and she would do everything in her power to destroy 'white males'. Incidentally, most of the audience was rolling on the floor, laughing, after she made this statement. Especially the stupid white males.

We are turning the corner into 2007 in a couple of months and that means we will soon be inundated with an ever increasing volume of media pap about our empty ritualized Presidential elections, the goal of which is to get us to actually stand in line for 45 minutes one day in November 2008 and cast a statistically meaningless ballot for either one of two Beltway putupjob insiders with nary a real difference between them. I barely participated in those threads during the last election and I have no intention of doing so this time around either. I thought I would save some time though for the rest of you and give you a summary of election and all the issues that our ...
Top Ten Ways We Got Jacked by Conservatives Post Date: 2006-09-24 23:24:39 by innieway

If you ever wanted to see how badly 'conservatives' have been shaking the silver out of our pockets in the past six years, this list is it. 1) The Bush administration has created the biggest budget deficit, debt, and trade imbalance ever while cutting funding for domestic needs like education, Medicare, and Medicaid. 2) The administrations tax cuts favor the rich, no matter how you look at it. About 87 percent of tax benefits go to the 14 percent of households with incomes above $100,000. Households with incomes below $75,000 -- three-quarters of all households -- get just 5 percent of those benefits. 3) Bush signed the largest corporate tax break package in two decades, $136 ...
