PressTV... Over 100 intellectuals in Sweden have formed a new prize-awarding body to protest the sexual scandal that plagued the Swedish Academy, which awards the Nobel Literature Prize. The New Academy, whose members include authors, artists and journalist, announced that the alternative honor will serve to censure bias, arrogance and sexism. The original academy was plunged into crisis over its long-running ties to a French individual accused of sexually assaulting several women. It is intended to "remind people that literature and culture at large should promote democracy, transparency, empathy and respect, without privilege," a joint statement written by the 107 ...

Conservative Hollywood actor James Woods, a man who has achieved iconic status from both his acting and his acid-tongued Twitter posts excoriating the left, was unceremoniously dumped by his talent agent on the Fourth of July In the name of patriotism, no less. In a Twitter post published late Wednesday, Woods included a screen shot of an email his now-former agent Ken Kaplan had sent earlier in the evening. Its the 4th of July and Im feeling patriotic. Watch: The Time Christopher Walken Perfectly Described Donald Trump By Ben Marquis June 21, 2018 at 12:32pm There has been much said about the political rise of President Donald Trump over the past few years, both good and bad to varying degrees of accuracy. How and why would a multi-billionaire in charge of a vast business empire give up his relatively easy life of luxury to submit himself to the punishing slings and arrows of his enemies to not only govern the most powerful nation in the world but to try and right the course of a wayward ship of state? The ultimate answer to that question may never be fully revealed, but a monologue by Hollywood actor Christopher Walken delivered in ...

No Country for Old Men - An explanation Post Date: 2018-03-15 22:11:34 by BTP Holdings

No Country for Old Men is a 2007 movie directed, written, and edited by Joel and Ethan Cohen. Based on the Cormac McCarthy novel of the same name. Its enigmatic title actually comes from the first stanza of William Butler Yeasts poem "Sailing to Byzantium", first published in the 1928 collection The Tower. This film has been defined as a neo-western movie a description which fits it well. Except perhaps that the term neo might suggest that the Western genre is dead and buried. In this video, I am going to analyse No Country for Old Men from both a narrative and visual point of view. This analysis will allow us to understand the meaning of that ending which ...

RT... In the past year, the world was introduced to a suspect for all seasons and purposes; an interloper so slippery he has yet to be positively identified. Yet, like Sasquatch, Loch Ness and UFOs, we know he is out there, lurking, and laughing at us all. In dark, smoke-choked rooms across the vast expanse of 11 time-zones that is Putin's Russia are brooding Dostoyevskian characters consumed with one overriding objective: Hacking Hillary Clintons email server in a brazen attempt to strike at US democracy and deliver Russia-friendly demagogue Donald J. Trump to power. Yes, Clinton made the task easier by using her personal computer to send classified messages, but this should not ...

Blacklisted News. Everyones talking about fake news
Google Trends shows that starting in late October that phrase absolutely exploded in terms of internet searches: fake-news-google-trendsIn the last month, Obama, Merkel, CNN, the New York Times, Washington Post and many other mainstream media have warned about the dangers of fake news. There certainly is a lot of fake news. And some of it is by anti-establishment types trying to discredit American institutions with false reports. But as we document below the government and mainstream media are by far the biggest purveyors of fake news. The Governments Been Deploying Propaganda ...

RI... We still dont know the outcome of the 2016 election, in which our democratic process has produced two candidates widely despised by the American people, but we do know the races biggest loser: reporters and the profession of journalism, which has been reduced to surrogacy, largely on behalf of Hillary Clinton. Before going further, let me state that my own politics are on the left but I wont be voting in this election. Both parties have collaborated to rig the system so thats its virtually impossible for an independent candidate to compete given the financial and institutional hurdles that have been put in place to block such a possibility. ...
Songs from my band (Avant Garage) Post Date: 2016-10-21 15:11:36 by Bill D Berger

Back in the late 80's and early 90's I was in a band called "Avant Garage". We started out as a cover band, playing bars and clubs in the Minneapolis area, starting out as "The Verselles". We went through several drummers and changed our focus to writing our own songs. Anyways, we recorded a demo tape in 1992 and a few days ago I was going through my cassette collection and discovered the tape. After recording it with Audacity and cleaning up some of the hiss, I put the entire album (10 songs) on SoundCloud. They styles range from power pop to garage, rock, alternative, rockabilly, yet there's a certain cohesion throughout the entire album. In my opinion, ...

I've lately noticed my couch/tv time increasingly devoted to railroading documentaries. There is one about WWII, how the railroads had to gear up for transporting raw materials, fuel, weapons, machinery and troops. What caught my attention was the oil tankers, headed to ports for shipment to our Brit buddies. How long would it take Russia (or hell, Bolivia if they really put their minds to it) to sink the ocean tanker as it headed east? That got me to thinking about offshore oil platforms. Blowing up a couple of those would really ruin someones coastline. The nazis probably would have, but there were no offshore oil platforms back then best I can tell. That got me thinking about WWII and ...
Happy Birthday, “Shakespeare”! Post Date: 2016-04-20 06:38:57 by Ada

[Classic: 4/13/2000] April 12 marked the 450th birthday of the writer we know as William Shakespeare. Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford, was born on April 12, 1550. Oxford adopted the name Shakespeare in 1593 when he published the poem Venus and Adonis, which he dedicated to the young Earl of Southampton. Oxford had fallen in love with the handsome teenager, who was being urged to marry his daughter Elizabeth Vere. Southampton is also the lovely boy to whom most of the Shakespeare Sonnets are addressed. When I argued this in my book Alias Shakespeare (published by The Free Press in 1997), I expected to get quite an argument from the academic ...

RT... Germany's federal education minister has called for nationwide use of Adolf Hitler's 'Mein Kampf' in the classroom. It comes just before a critical version of the book is due to be reprinted for the first time since Hitler's death, sparking fierce debate. Referencing the critical edition of the book, scheduled to be published by Munich's Institute for Contemporary History in January, Johanna Wanka told Passauer Neuen Presse that it is aimed at promoting political education and is easily comprehensible.
