Debunking the myths about Gaza: The truth behind Israeli and Palestinian talking points Post Date: 2014-07-30 06:44:38 by Ada

Why this fight now? Who started it? What happened with the kidnapped Israeli teens? Getting to the bottom of myths Palestinians just endured an exceptionally brutal weekend: In Gaza, the death toll crossed the appalling benchmark of 1,000, overwhelmingly civilians. In the West Bank, Israeli soldiers and settlers also killed at least nine Palestinians amid protests against the devastation of Gaza. I recently debunked Israels misleading human shields argument attempting to deflect responsibility for the killing of hundreds of Palestinian civilians; but more important to expose is the false narrative of how we found ourselves in this crisis and who is responsible for its ...
Enemies of America: Bloomberg, Stern, and Rand Paul Post Date: 2014-07-30 00:03:24 by Gentile Defense League

There must be few occasions in history when a Fifth Column was as openly disloyal and flamboyant as is Israel First in the United States, advocating at every turn that Americans become involved in wars that are none of their concern. These Jewish and non-Jewish Americans have so corrupted the U.S. political system and media that they feel perfectly at ease in acting in ways that are certain, in the future, to get some of their fellow citizens civilian and military killed by Islamist insurgents. They also aggressively seek to turn more of the Muslim world against the United States, thereby deepening the war America already is losing to the Islamists. And all of this is done in ...

Two strikes which hit the compound of Gaza Citys main hospital and a nearby park killed ten children and wounded 46 on Monday hours after Israel and Hamas had declared a truce. The park in the Shati refugee camp was hit minutes after a strike on the outpatients unit at the Shifa Hospital on the edge of the city. Ayman Sahabani, the head of the emergency room at Shifa Hospital, claimed that children were playing on a swing in the park when they were killed. Nine of the 10 killed were children under the age of 12, and 46 were injured. Camera crews were prevented from filming the area of impact at Shifa, according to reporters on the scene. In Israel, meanwhile, the military ...

To protect itself from Hamas rockets and tunnels, Israel is forcing tens of thousands of people out of their homes, turning their old neighborhoods into a no-mans land. BEIT HANOUN, Gaza This narrow strip of land that used to be called the Gaza Strip, already one of the more densely populated places on Earth, is growing dramatically smaller. The Israeli military, relentlessly and methodically, is driving people out of the 3-kilometer (1.8 mile) buffer zone it says it needs to protect against Hamas rockets and tunnels. According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the buffer zone eats up about 44 percent of Gazas ...

The situation facing European Jewry is simply intolerable, unacceptable and inexcusable, Israeli Jewish Congress president Vladimir Sloutsker told MKs and foreign diplomats at a special session of the Knesset Immigration Absorption and Diaspora Affairs Committee on Monday. Calling the rise in anti-Semitic incidents accompanying Israels invasion of Gaza an SOS situation, Sloutsker warned that if left unchecked, such behavior could lead to another European genocide. In her latest post, my colleague Rania Khalek makes reference to a new racist chant mocking the more than two hundred children slaughtered by Israels merciless bombing campaign in Gaza: Tomorrow theres no school in Gaza, they dont have any children left. This video shows an Israeli mob actually singing in celebration of childrens deaths in the style of a soccer fans song: In Gaza theres no studying, No children are left there, Olé, olé, olé-olé-olé. The mob also incites directly against Ahmed Tibi and Haneen Zoabi, two prominent Palestinian citizens of Israel who are members of the ...

The slickness of Israel's spokesmen is rooted in directions set down by pollster Frank Luntz Israeli spokesmen have their work cut out explaining how they have killed more than 1,000 Palestinians in Gaza, most of them civilians, compared with just three civilians killed in Israel by Hamas rocket and mortar fire. But on television and radio and in newspapers, Israeli government spokesmen such as Mark Regev appear slicker and less aggressive than their predecessors, who were often visibly indifferent to how many Palestinians were killed. There is a reason for this enhancement of the PR skills of Israeli spokesmen. Going by what they say, the playbook they are using is a professional, ...
Israel Murders IDF Soldier to Prevent His Capture Post Date: 2014-07-27 23:25:33 by Horse

Ive devoted a good deal of my life to Israel. Ive studied, read, visited, lived, breathed it. Not in the way diehard pro-Israel fanatics do. But in a different way that matched my own intellectual and political proclivities. Its a subject that is rich, varied, troubling, bedeviling, and exhilarating. But every once in a while I learn something I never thought possible; and I dont mean this in a good way. Tonight, my Israeli source informed me that Sgt. Guy Levy, serving in the armored corps, was captured by Hamas fighters. He had been part of a joint engineering-armored-combat unit searching for tunnels. Troops entered a structure and discovered a tunnel. Suddenly, ...

Local it A top Italian philosopher has sparked outrage in Israel and at home after saying that he would like to shoot those bastard Zionists and that Israel was a bit worse than the Nazis. As violence escalates in Gaza, Gianni Vattimo also called on Europeans to club together to buy Hamas, the Palestinian militant Islamist organization, better weapons. The former member of the European Parliament made the remarks on Italys Radio 24 but they were soon picked up by Israeli media, including Haaretz and i24 News. In response to whether he would like to see more Israelis killed Vattimo, who co-edited a booked called Deconstructing Zionism. A Critique ...

The Twitter hashtag #ICC4Israel is trending worldwide right now, evidence that the world's people want the psychopathic and demonic state of "Israel" to face justice this time for its crimes against humanity, which have been ongoing for more than 70 years. Press TV A prominent French lawyer says he has filed a complaint at the International Criminal Court (ICC) on behalf of the Palestinian government against the Israeli army. Gilles Devers said that the complaint covers war crimes committed by the Israeli army in June and July 2014 in Palestine. He added that the complaint is valid despite the fact that the Palestinians have yet to sign up to the Hague-based ICC. ...
“Why do you continue to kill people?” Post Date: 2014-07-27 16:56:02 by Lorie Meacham

The question of my headline was asked by an exasperated and quietly angry Ban Ki Moon, Secretary General of the UN during his diplomatic effort in the Middle East. Because Israel is doing virtually all of the killing I think it is more than reasonable to assume that the SGs rhetorical question was addressed primarily to Israels leaders. The answer to it can be very simply stated. Because it is committed to retaining the maximum amount of Palestinian land with the minimum number of Palestinians on it and therefore has no interest in peace on terms the Palestinians could accept, Zionism knows no other way of behaving. Killing Palestinians comes as naturally to it as pissing when ...
Netanyahu’s Bloody Calculations Post Date: 2014-07-27 16:54:36 by Lorie Meacham

Anyone who reads about the carnage in the Gaza Strip and has at least an ounce of humanity is hoping that a ceasefire will come soon. Jodi Rudorens coverage in the New York Times suggests that current calculations of the Israeli government of Benjamin Netanyahu involve weighing the crippling of the physical ability of Hamas to attack Israel against international condemnation of Israel that is likely to mount as long as the Israeli operation continues. Those considerations are no doubt part of the Israeli governments thinking, but only a part and a rather tactical part at that. In anticipating when Netanyahu and his cabinet will call a halt to the operation, a more strategic view ...

All eyes are on Gaza, where the death toll from Israels merciless bombing campaign has topped 1,000. But back in Jerusalem, where 16-year-old Muhammad Abu Khudair was burned alive by Jewish vigilantes in a revenge killing incited by Israeli politicians early this month, right-wing lynch mobs continue to roam the streets in search of Arabs to attack. Their most recent victims are 20-year-old Palestinians Amir Shwiki and Samer Mahfouz from the Beit Hannina neighborhood in occupied East Jerusalem. The pair were severely beaten into unconsciousness on Friday night by Israeli youths armed with iron bars and baseball bats. Mahfouz told the Israeli newspaper Haaretz that ...

Several thousand gathered in Place de la République in Paris, France to protest the Israeli operation in the Gaza Strip on Saturday, defying a state ban on the demonstration. Protesters chanted "Israel is an assassin, Holland is an accomplice" and "we are all Palestinians," and some were seen gesturing the quenelle, a reverse Nazi-salute, AFP reported. Tension mounted as hundreds of protesters, some masked, began throwing stones and projectiles at police who responded with tear gas. "This event is illegal, but for us it is more than legitimate. Hezbollah leader vows to support Gazans Post Date: 2014-07-26 06:53:29 by Tatarewicz

BEIRUT (AP) The leader of Lebanon's militant Hezbollah group vowed on Friday to support Palestinian militants battling Israeli troops in Gaza, even as his own fighters are bogged down in the war in neighboring Syria. In his first remarks on the latest Israeli-Palestinian fighting that erupted on July 8, Hassan Nasrallah warned Israel that it would be "suicide" to continue waging war in the Gaza Strip. Hezbollah, a Shiite group, has long been one of the closest allies of Hamas, the main Palestinian Sunni faction which controls Gaza. Both militant groups are backed by Iran. But relations between Hamas and Hezbollah soured following the uprising against President ...
The Christian family refusing to give up its Bethlehem hill farm Post Date: 2014-07-26 02:08:27 by X-15

Palestinian Christian family that preaches non-violence from a farm in the West Bank is battling to hold on to land it has owned for 98 years. Now surrounded by Israeli settlements, the family is a living example of the idea of peaceful resistance. On his farm outside Bethlehem, Daher Nassar is picking apples from the ruins of the orchard he planted at least eight years ago. The fruit is scattered across ground freshly opened and imprinted with the tracks of a bulldozer. At the field's edge, branches reach out from inside a mound of earth, the bark stripped and mangled, unripe almonds still clinging to the trees. On 19 May a Palestinian shepherd from the village of Nahalin was out at ...
