The New York Times chose to honor the 18th anniversary of the September 11 atrocity by blaming “airplanes” for carrying out the attack. Yes, really. “18 years have passed since airplanes took aim and brought down the World Trade Center,” the Times tweeted from its official account. The tweet prompted an immediate backlash, with respondents furious the Times appeared to be absolving the terrorists of blame and pinning the responsibility on inanimate objects instead. I clicked on the TV and found the news clip of the second plane hitting the tower being replayed As the story developed my boss and I watched the same broadcast and attempted to analyze what we were seeing. 1) We both agreed as the towers fell one by one that they had been demolished. 2) The footage of the Pennsylvania crash site appeared to show no crater and the story was claiming that the plane nosed dived into the ground. Surprising how many people you see on here who are ignorant and naive enough to still apparently believe the official conspiracy theory about the 19 arabs with boxcutters. No steel framed building had ever collapsed from fire in over a century and a half since they were building them.
