US violated Geneva Conventions, Bush Iraq commander says

The head of the US Central Command, General David Petraeus, said Friday that the US had violated the Geneva Conventions in a stunning admission from President Bush’s onetime top general in Iraq that the US may have violated international law. “When we have taken steps that have violated the Geneva Conventions we rightly have been criticized, so as we move forward I think it’s important to again live our values, to live the agreements that we have made in the international justice arena and to practice those,” Gen. Petraeus said on Fox News Friday afternoon. Petraeus made the comment in the context of being asked about the Bush administration’s so-called ...

Turtle's Friend Visits the Principal

One of my friends has a 16-year-old boy who is in Advanced Placement in high school. Not surprisingly, all those not in Advanced Placement speak Spanish. TF, who is a history buff, went through his son's history text, expecting to tear it apart. He didn't have to, finding it an excellent book. On the other hand, the one for the Spanish speakers was so bad TF went to the principal. One of the things he complained about was that the textbook was writtn by a Jew, and listed how many Jews died in every country in Europe during WWII. This is not American history, it is European history, and has no place in American textbooks. Worse, the book did not list how many Americans died in ...

ASHEVILLE, June 27 — On Thursday, June 26, 2008, at the invitation of Asheville Tribune Editor David Morgan and confirmation of SLRC Administrative Director, the Honorable Roger McCredie that a Truth Patrol should be present; I would don the uniform of the Southern soldier, pick up his glorious banner and head out to Malaprop's Bookstore in downtown Asheville where actor Gene Hackman with his co-author, Daniel Lenihan had come to promote, sign copies and answer questions about their book titled "Escape From Andersonville," touted as a novel of the Civil War. After greeting and posing for pictures for many of the people that included some of Asheville and Buncombe ...

SIBEL EDMONDS: Announcing 'Project Expose MSM'

Whistleblowers set to name names, turn tables on media who've betrayed our trust Newsweek reporters named in 'real-life' case example of new project... We all have been tirelessly screaming about issues related to Congressional leaders abdicating their main responsibility of 'oversight.' We have been outraged for way too long at seeing 'no' accountability whatsoever in many known cases of extreme wrongdoing. I, and many of you, believe that the biggest reason for this was, and still is, the lack of true journalism and media coverage --- which acts as the necessary pressure and catalyst for those spineless politicians on the Hill and in the Executive branch. Or, ...

Defending 4um's Rights: Whitney v. California (No. 3) 453, affirmed

Those who won our independence believed that the final end of the State was to make men free to develop their faculties, and that, in its government, the deliberative forces should prevail over the arbitrary. They valued liberty both as an end, and as a means. They believed liberty to be the secret of happiness, and courage to be the secret of liberty. They believed that freedom to think as you will and to speak as you think are means indispensable to the discovery and spread of political truth; that, without free speech and assembly, discussion would be futile; that, with them, discussion affords ordinarily adequate protection against the dissemination of noxious doctrine; that the ...

A Global Village and the Rights of the Peoples?

The great conflicts of the future will no longer pit left against right, or East against West, but the forces of nationalism and regionalism against the credo of universal democracy. The lofty ideal of the global village seems to be stumbling over the renewed rise of East European separatism, whose aftershocks may soon spill over into the Western hemisphere. Already the dogma of human rights is coming under fire by the proponents of peoples' rights, and the yearning for historical community is making headway into atomized societies deserted by ideologies. With the collapse of communist internationalism the clock of history has been turned back, and inevitably the words of the ...

Chinese billions in Sri Lanka fund battle against Tamil Tigers

On the southern coast of Sri Lanka, ten miles from one of the world’s busiest shipping routes, a vast construction site is engulfing the once sleepy fishing town of Hambantota. This poor community of 21,000 people is about as far as one can get on the island from the fighting between the army and the Tamil Tiger rebels on the northeastern coast. The sudden spurt of construction helps, however, to explain why the army is poised to defeat the Tigers and why Western governments are so powerless to negotiate a ceasefire to help civilians trapped on the front line. This is where China is building a $1 billion port that it plans to use as a refuelling and docking station for its navy, as it ...

May 21, 2009 Dear Friend of Liberty, Across our nation, Campaign for Liberty's 150,000+ members are taking action, educating their fellow countrymen, and making a considerable impact on the political landscape. Together, we unapologetically champion the principles that made our nation great: sound money, a constitutionally limited government and foreign policy, and respect for individual liberties. These ideas transcend traditional boundaries and draw Americans (and like-minded people across the globe) from all backgrounds to the liberty message. Many Republican leaders, however, continue to believe that principle must be sacrificed on the altar of attaining political power, ...

More stockpiling ammunition: Fear of potential Obama laws causing mass sales

FLORENCE - Every day, Darren Newsom's three Bitterroot Valley Ammunition facilities crank out 300,000 rounds of ammunition. It's not nearly enough. “I'm going about 100,000 rounds in the wrong direction every day,” Newsom said. “We probably have about six months of back orders right now.” Newsom has been in the ammunition manufacturing business for more than 20 years and he's never seen demand this high. Fearful of the Obama administration's potential to tighten gun control laws, people from all over the country are stocking up on guns and ammunition. “I went through the Clinton years and there was a bit of a scare then,” Newsom said. ...

Race Differences and Immigration

I want to examine the changing nature of Britishness resulting from the immigration non-Europeans, particularly in the light of IQ differences between immigrants and the native white population. My approach differs from current debates about immigration which are normally concentrated on whether it is good or bad for Britain, and whether we need more of it or less, and not on the quality of the immigrants or their racial identity. Race And IQ In my recent review of the research on race differences in intelligence that has been carried out over the last eighty years I have set the British IQ at 100 and shown that other Europeans have the same average IQ, except in the Balkans where it drops ...

Modern Survivalism Tenet Number One

Everything You Do Should Improve Your Position in Life Even If Nothing Goes Wrong The survivalist community is often perceived as a bunch of gloom and doom types sitting on a pile of MREs, ammunition and guns in some far out corner of the North West. Of course the survivalist is also typecast as expecting TEOTWAWKI (the end of the world as we know it) to occur any day now, in fact he is actually hoping for it. Honestly it is time for this stereotype to die a deserving death. Modern survivalists are many things but very few are actually concerned about the infamous black helicopters or FEMA Camps. Most instead are simply realists who understand that sometimes things do go wrong and it is ...

Watching Obama Morph Into Dick Cheney

America has lost her soul, and so has her president. A despairing country elected a president who promised change. Americans arrived from every state to witness in bitter cold Obama’s swearing-in ceremony. The mall was packed in a way that it has never been for any other president. The people’s good will toward Obama and the expectations they had for him were sufficient for Obama to end the gratuitous wars and enact major reforms. But Obama has deserted the people for the interests. He is relying on his non-threatening demeanor and rhetoric to convince the people that change is underway. The change that we are witnessing is in Obama, not in policies. Obama is morphing into ...

Why Intelligent People Tend to be Unhappy

Happiness in intelligent people is the rarest thing I know. - Ernest Hemingway, author and journalist, Nobel laureate (1899-1961) Hemingway, who took his own life in 1961, knew his share of both intelligent people and of unhappiness. He lived through two world wars, the Great Depression, four wives and an unknown number of failed romantic relationships, none of which would help him to develop happiness if he knew how. As Hemingway's quote was based on his life experience, I will base the following speculation on both my personal and my professional experience as a sociologist. Not enough study exists to quote on this subject. Western society is not set up to nurture intelligent ...

John Browning’s Model 1911 pistol, an engineering wonder for its day, still serves as a design platform for much modern pistolsmithing. Old examples, especially with military markings, are now highly valued on the collector market, where they can bring hundreds or even thousands of dollars each. Yet 16 years ago, early in the Clinton administration, the politicians declared our government would no longer sell into the civilian after-market pistols being retired from military armories. Instead, Guns & Ammo magazine reported in 1996 that since Bill Clinton took office in 1992 the government had resumed for the first time in 15 years the destruction by shredding of ...

San Francisco Liberls Restless but Leaderless on Immigration

San Francisco -- it's the left-coast city conservatives love to bash. And with good reason. Some of the nuttiest liberals in the country run the city government including one supervisor, David Campos, who brags on his own website he was "undocumented". The expression "San Francisco values" is shorthand for hare-brained politics and silly ideas. It even rates its own Wikipedia page: "San Francisco values is a pejorative term used to refer to cultural, social and moral attributes popularly associated with the city of San Francisco, California, including liberal politics, sanctimoniousness, gay pride, and secularism." In 2006 the edgy cartoon series South ...

Investigative journalist Daniel Estulin reveals Bilderberg’s plan to destroy world economy, lower global population by two thirds Investigative journalist Daniel Estulin, whose information from inside Bilderberg has routinely proven accurate, states that the global elite’s plan to completely destroy the economy and ultimately lower global population by two thirds has stoked fears even within Bilderberg itself that the fallout from such chaos could ultimately result in the globalists losing their control over the world. In a telephone interview, Estulin re-iterated his original points about Bilderberg’s 2009 agenda, which were released in a pre-meeting booklet to members. ...

40 Percent of Israel's Arab Citizens Deny Shoah by Gil Ronen (IsraelNN.com) Two out of every five Arab citizens of Israel, or 40.5 percent, say that the Shoah, or Holocaust, never happened. This figure is up from 28 percent who denied the Holocaust in a similar survey three years ago. Only 41 percent of the Arab citizens of Israel recognize Israel's right to exist as a Jewish and democratic state, down from 65.6 percent who did so in 2003. A mere 53.7 percent recognize Israel's right to exist as an independent state at all, compared with 81.1 percent in 2003. The statistics appear in the annual "Jewish Arab Relations Meter" published by Prof. Sami Samocha of Haifa ...

My idea is we print green dollars with Ben Bernanke's photo on the front. Across the top I would print “Ben Bernanke's IOU Nothing Bucks.” The only denomination we need to print is 1,000,000. I realize that only coins have “In God We Trust” but we could add “In Greenspan We Trust” to the front. Most of my regular readers would agree that the Federal Reserve is responsible for creating what I have called long run credit bubbles which led to the Great Depression of 1929-1939 and the one we are now entering which I believe will be even more severe than the last one. Today I want to start a collective effort over the Internet to stop the FED from ...
