HOUSE INTEL COMMITTEE VOTING MONDAY 5:00PM TO RELEASE MEMO
Post Date: 2018-01-29 14:31:25 by Horse

After the legislative branch votes to release the memo, it would immediately be given to President Trump (executive branch) for his review and approval of public release If the executive branch (POTUS Trump) approves, the material is immediately made available. However, if the executive branch doesn’t approve, then after 5 days, the House of Representatives can vote to override the executive; and, if a majority of the house approve, they can release it despite the executive branch denial. This latter approach is extremely unlikely, because POTUS Trump wants the memo released. (I’m just sharing a process example)

2018 Grammys Had The Lowest Ratings Ever As Award Show Turns Political

This year's Grammy Awards ceremony was all about social and political causes: The #MeToo movement was heavily represented, and a sketch featuring celebrities - including Hillary Clinton - mocking President Trump by reading passages from Michael Wolff's controversial "Fire and Fury" Unsurprisingly, this didn't go over to well with the millions of Americans who still unequivocally support the president - and it showed in the ratings. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the CBS telecast was down a staggering 21% from 2017 - potentially an all time low. This mirrors the slide in NFL ratings that several surveys have attributed to players' decisions to kneel during ...

Is the Trump Revolution Over?

A year after President Donald Trump’s inauguration, analysts and commentators are assessing both his performance in the first year of his presidency as well as the outlook for the remainder of his first term. Entering office as a surprise winner and a political neophyte, many people didn’t know just what to expect from Trump. Would he do what he pledged to do as a candidate, or was his campaign rhetoric just a lot of hot air to bamboozle enough people into voting for him? One of Trump’s most popular promises was to “drain the swamp” and, while the President has tried to make some strides in that respect over the past year, there are concerning signs that any swamp ...

GOP Congressional investigators have written six letters to individuals or entities involved or thought to be involved in the funding, creation or distribution of the salacious and unverified "Trump-Russia dossier" believed to have been inappropriately used by the FBI, DOJ and Obama Administration in an effort to undermine Donald Trump as both a candidate and President of the United States. Senators Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Lindsey Graham (R-SCS) wrote six Judiciary Committee letters requesting information from: John Podesta, Donna Brazille, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Robbie Mook, the DNC, and Hillary For America Chief Strategist Joel Benenson. Russia’s New Monster Weapon

While we agonize over such life and death questions as clumsy men groping women and the crucial need for gender and racial ‘inclusion,’ let me spare a few seconds thought to something really important and scary: Russia’s doomsday nuclear torpedo. Codenamed by NATO ‘Kanyon,’ it’s reportedly something new and terrifying, a ‘third strike’ weapon designed to obliterate the US east and west coasts in a nuclear war. US intelligence seems to think this doomsday weapon is very real indeed. I just re-watched for the umpteenth time the wonderful, 1964 Kubrick film, ‘Dr. Strangelove’ and marveled anew at how prescient this razor-sharp satire was. ...

Deputy PM Says US Is 'Risking Confrontation' With Turkey US-Turkey tensions mounting surrounding the Turkish invasion of the Syrian Kurdish Afrin District look to be getting much worse, with Turkey’s deputy premier Bekir Bozdag warning that the US is the one risking confrontation by supporting the Kurds. Deputy PM Bekir Bozdag and President Erdogan Bozdag warned the US needs to “review its soldiers and elements giving support to terrorists on the ground,” and that US forces who continue to support the Kurdish YPG, which Turkey considers terrorists “will become a target in this battle.” The US isn’t believed to have any serious forces inside Afrin ...

Government Will Protect Us From Bad Speech? That’s the Fakest News of All.

. When government officials suppress critics, they do so only to help themselves. The folks from the government are here to protect us from extremism, fake news, and hate speech, and they've strong-armed some media company friends to help. "Twitter is sending out messages to people telling them that, for their own good, they are documenting that the user has either followed, cited or re-tweeted an account Twitter decided is linked to Russia & its propaganda efforts," journalist Glenn Greenwald tweeted over the weekend. "That's not creepy at all." The thread to which Greenwald linked featured an example of such an email, which is connected to ...

Would Rural Areas Be Safer In A SHTF Situation?
Post Date: 2018-01-25 03:47:26 by Horse

In a situation where national infrastructure and life sustaining resources are suddenly cut off , population density will have a lot to do with how well you get by in the days following the crisis. When it happens, what you have on hand will likely be all you have to work with for an extended time. Those that lack supplies will seek out and take what they need in an increasingly hostile manner as time goes on. This is why being in a large city will likely be hazardous to your well being. Very few will argue that being in a rural area when something catastrophic happens will greatly increase your chances of survival. A lower population density and more available natural resources to help ...

Singer-Songwriter Erykah Badu Says She ‘Saw Something Good’ In Adolf Hitler

Erykah Badu raised some eyebrows in an interview with Vulture after she seemingly expressed empathy for Adolf Hitler after being asked about accusations that she’s anti-Semitic. The wide-ranging interview covered a broad number of topics but took a bizarre turn after she was asked about the criticism she faced following 2008 trip to Israel where she says she followed Nation of Islam leader and anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan. “I’m not an anti-Semitic person. I (didn’t) even know what anti-Semitic was before I was called it. I’m a humanist. I see good in everybody. I saw something good in Hitler,” Badu said randomly as the Nazi leader had not been previously ...

Two years after the standoff at the Malheur Refuge, many people in the region remain convinced that their way of life is being trampled. I took the eastern route from Idaho, on a day of freezing rain, over the Strawberry Mountains, into the broad John Day River Basin, in Oregon. I was used to empty places. Most of my childhood was spent in this region of eastern Oregon, in remote areas of the sagebrush desert or in the volcanic mountains with their jagged peaks and old-growth forests. My family moved away just before I entered high school, and I never returned; I’ve felt in romantic exile ever since. This part of America that had once belonged to my childhood became the spotlight ...

Trump’s National Defense Strategy Has the Pentagon Popping Champagne
Post Date: 2018-01-24 04:29:11 by Ada

Along with the entire the military-industrial complex. Here’s what we can say about the Trump administration’s just-released National Defense Strategy: it’s not a strategy and its subject is not defense. Bearing the imprimatur of Pentagon chief James Mattis, the NDS—at least the unclassified summary that we citizens are permitted to see—is in essence a brief for increasing the size of the U.S. military budget. Implicit in the document is this proposition: more spending will make the armed forces of the United States “stronger” and the United States “safer.” Simply put, the NDS is all about funneling more bucks to the Pentagon. Remarkably, the ...

FBI Whistleblower on Pierre Omidyar and His Campaign to Neuter Wikileaks

FBI whistleblower Sibel Edmonds asserts Pierre Omidyar decided to create The Intercept to not only take ownership of the Snowden leaks but also to continue his blockade against WikiLeaks and create a “honey trap” for whistleblowers. WikiLeaks, the transparency organization known for publishing leaked documents that threaten the powerful, finds itself under pressure like never before, as does its editor-in-chief, Julian Assange. Now, the fight to silence Wikileaks is not only being waged by powerful government figures but also by the media, including outlets and organizations that have styled themselves as working to protect whistleblowers. As this three-part series seeks to ...

(Will Syria Be Partitioned?) Russia avoided the Syrian quagmire despite dire predictions. Putin minimised his footprint, his war is almost over, ISIL has been defeated. Trump could also exclaim “Mission is completed!” – and fly home. But it seems he is eager to rush in where angels fear to tread. Trump does not mind doing for the Israeli Prime Minister what his predecessors, whether Democrats or Republicans, refused, namely, fighting Israel’s war by indefinitely extending the hostile and illegal occupation of Syria. He should have learned by now that foreign policy is not his forte. His liberal opponents at home effectively neutralise every move he does. Worse, his ...

Edward Snowden calls for public release of FISA abuses memo and Trump veto of key surveillance tool

Former National Security Agency contractor Edward Snowden said the bill to reauthorize Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act would never have passed through both chambers of Congress if a memo Republicans claim has revelations about U.S. government surveillance abuses was released prior to the vote. As such, Snowden called on President Trump to veto the legislation giving six more years of life to the key counterterrorism surveillance tool. "Officials confirm there's a secret report showing abuses of spy law Congress voted to reauthorize this week. If this memo had been known prior to the vote, FISA reauth [sic] would have failed," Snowden tweeted early ...
