MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A Tennessee lawmaker is in hot water after making some racial remarks in session on Tuesday. Representative Curry Todd, who represents Collierville, compared pregnant, illegal immigrants to multiplying rats. He said they are ushered into the U.S. healthcare system without being checked for citizenship. He's angry, and so is the Hispanic community. Over the phone, Curry Todd was not willing to formally apologize for his remarks. He conceded his words were harsh, but he's not getting caught up in being politically correct. This doesn't sit well with some in the Hispanic community who believe this elected official needs to be ousted! The conversation started ...

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. -- Florida's old-fashioned metal license plates may be getting a high-tech makeover. Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles Director Julie Jones will be asking the Florida Legislature to authorize a pilot program to test new tags made of plastic polymers instead of metal. "We've been stamping out, with prisoners, for years license plates just like you see in the old movies," Jones said. "Technology is going to take us to a new place." The plastic tags have a computer chip that contains all of your registration information. So instead of changing the tag every five years, you just update the information on the chip. "So if we ...

WASHINGTON Judges who hear Social Security disability cases are facing a growing number of violent threats from claimants angry over being denied benefits or frustrated at lengthy delays in processing claims. There were at least 80 threats to kill or harm administrative law judges or staff over the past year an 18 percent increase over the previous reporting period, according to data collected by the agency. The data was released to the Association of Administrative Law Judges and made available to The Associated Press. One claimant in Albuquerque, N.M., called his congressman's office to say he was going to "take his guns and shoot employees" in the Social ...

In late September, there was a modest gathering of law enforcement officers, military personnel, and mental health professionals in the small western New York town of Hamburg. It was totally ignored by the mainstream media, with just a reporter from the Buffalo News on hand to record the proceedings. Lucky for us. The 120 men and women were attending the International First Responder-Military Symposium, held at Hilbert College, a small Franciscan tradition place of learning. Not that St. Francis would have been interested in a military symposium, but if hed been able to attend, hed have heard all about a new technology that will help identify and track ...

Leading economists and financial experts say that our economy cannot recover until the too big to fails are broken up. See this and this. The giant banks have been sucking money out of the real economy and making us all poorer. But the government is refusing to even rein in the mega-banks, let alone break them up. One of the too big to fails - JP Morgan - manipulates the silver market. See this, this, this, this and this. According to the National Inflation Association, JP Morgan is short 30,000 silver contracts representing 150 million ounces of silver. This is one of the largest concentrated short positions in the history of all commodities, representing 31% of all open COMEX ...

Poster Comment:Short vid from an attractive girl with silver bars for each hand. She made this video in response to Max Keiser's request on AJ's show yesterday that we all buy silver. This will not just break JPM but it will crash the dollar and stop all wars overseas but it might start a civil war on the home front.

Poster Comment:On this video Max Keiser proposes to AJ that everyone buys silver so we can take down JP Morgan Chase who have a naked short position on silver. This will also take down the LBMA, the COMEX and the dollar. I wrote an article suggesting this months ago. I wanted the anti-war crowd to understand how they could take down the American-Israeli Empire.

Weve all seen the bumper stickers: "My son is in the Air Force," "If You Can Read This in English, Thank a Marine," "Proud Vietnam Veteran," "Fly Navy," and of course, "Thank a Vet." Why should we? Why should we call them heroes, give them military discounts, grant them veterans preference, express our support for them with ribbons on our cars, honor them with a holiday, hold military appreciation church services for them, and thank them for their "service"? Veterans Day began as Armistice Day to commemorate the signing of the armistice that ended World War I. It had nothing to do with honoring current and former members ...

Like the Roman legions vanquished in the Teutoburger Wald in Lower Saxony in 9 AD, the 17,000 police officers that marched into the woods around the nuclear storage facility in Gorleben in northern Germany on Sunday morning looked invincible. Police personnel from France, Croatia and Poland had joined in the biggest security operation ever mounted against protestors against the a train carrying nuclear waste to a depot in an isolated part of Lower Saxonys countryside. Helicopters, water canons and police vehicles, including an armoured surveillance truck, accompanied an endless column of anti-riot police mounted on horses and also marching down the railway tracks into the dense ...

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of encouraging an act of terrorism in connection with a website that listed MPs who voted for the Iraq War, police said today. The man was taken into custody at 9.30am in connection with the internet blog which influenced a student who tried to kill (British) MP Stephen Timms. Officers from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit conducted a search of the man's home address in the Dunstall area of Wolverhampton and arrested him under section one of the Terrorism Act 2006, West Midlands Police said. A police spokeswoman added: "The website is the same one that was in the press last week in connection with stabbing of MP Stephen ...

A delegation of politicians and community activists gathered on August 7 in La Leonesa, a small farm town in Argentina, to hear Dr. Andres Carrasco speak about a study linking a popular herbicide to birth defects in Argentina's agricultural areas. But the presentation never happened. A mob of about 100 people attacked the delegation before they could reach the local school where the talk was to be held. Dr. Carrasco and a colleague locked themselves in a car as the mob yelled threats and beat on the vehicle for two hours. One delegate was hit in the spine and has since suffered lower-body paralysis. Another person was treated for blows to the head. A former provincial human rights ...

It's not often that you see liberals calling for violence but that is exactly what appears to have happened Monday on a left-leaning cable network. MSNBC's Dylan Ratigan drew the ire of conservatives after he asked political cartoonist Ted Rall to explain why a violent revolution is necessary. While Ratigan didn't go so far as to call for violence himself, he opened the segment by putting the idea in the minds of his viewers. "Are things in our country so bad that it might actually be time for a revolution?" Ratigan asked. "The answer obviously is yes. The only question is how to do it?" Rall joined Ratigan to discuss his new book The Anti-American ...

Wiretap Charges Tossed in Videotaping of Trooper (FOX) A judge threw out criminal charges Monday against a Maryland man who videotaped his traffic stop by a plainclothes state trooper and posted the video on YouTube. Anthony J. Graber III had been indicted under Marylands wiretap law, which requires the consent of both parties to record a private conversation. His video shows the trooper pulling his gun and telling Graber to get off his motorcycle before he identifies himself as a police officer. Harford County Circuit Judge Emory A. Plitt Jr. ruled that the wiretap law did not apply to a traffic stop because the conversation was not private. In this rapid information ...

If AT&T has its way before the Supreme Court, any business that issues a contract to customers would be able to prevent them from joining class-action lawsuits, taking away arguably the most powerful legal tool available to the little guy. By David Lazarus November 5, 2010 It hasn't gotten a lot of press, but a case involving AT&T that goes before the U.S. Supreme Court next week has sweeping ramifications for potentially millions of consumers. If a majority of the nine justices vote the telecom giant's way, any business that issues a contract to customers such as for credit cards, cellphones or cable TV would be able to prevent them from joining ...

Why Americans Will Believe Almost Anything By Tim O'Shea 10-30-7 Aldous Huxley's inspired 1954 essay detailed the vivid, mind-expanding, multisensory insights of his mescaline adventures. By altering his brain chemistry with natural psychotropics, Huxley tapped into a rich and fluid world of shimmering, indescribable beauty and power. With his neurosensory input thus triggered, Huxley was able to enter that parallel universe described by every mystic and space captain in recorded history. Whether by hallucination or epiphany, Huxley sought to remove all bonds, all controls, all filters, all cultural conditioning from his perceptions and to confront Nature or the World or Reality ...

Boehner under fire: First cut should be lawmakers' salaries Soon-to-be Speaker John Boehner (Ohio) is being pressed by taxpayer groups to slash the salaries of House lawmakers. Cutting member pay would show voters the new GOP majority in the House is going to lead by example in their efforts to rein in spending and start with their own wallets, say officials with three prominent taxpayer advocacy groups in Washington, D.C. There has to be a visible gesture that people can immediately relate to, said Pete Sepp, the executive vice president of the conservative National Taxpayers Union. And cutting pay would be one of the best symbols, because unlike virtually anything ...
