Battle Rifle Basics
Post Date: 2009-11-30 06:32:13 by Ada

While anyone with an elementary knowledge of firearms recognizes the advantages of a handgun for concealed and close quarters defense use, the time where a battle rifle could be used for self-defense is rapidly approaching. The size and weight of a handgun provides many advantages but these factors also become a liability if one is forced to defend themselves at a distance of more than a few yards. While there exist handguns used for hunting and target shooting, those are not usually carried or used for self-defense and their effective range is still limited, especially when compared to a battle rifle. Everyone, with the possible exception of those who still believe answers to our ...

Do you believe in the American dream -- the idea that in this country, hardworking people of every race, color and creed can get ahead on their own merits? If so, that belief may soon bar you from getting a license to teach in Minnesota public schools -- at least if you plan to get your teaching degree at the University of Minnesota's Twin Cities campus. In a report compiled last summer, the Race, Culture, Class and Gender Task Group at the U's College of Education and Human Development recommended that aspiring teachers there must repudiate the notion of "the American Dream" in order to obtain the recommendation for licensure required by the Minnesota Board of Teaching. ...

"Letter To President Tells It Like It Is By 95 Year Old WW II Veteran" Posted by Beau Bowling on November 18, 2009 Dear President Obama, My name is Harold Estes, approaching 95 on December 13 of this year. People meeting me for the first time don't believe my age because I remain wrinkle free and pretty much mentally alert. I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1934 and served proudly before, during and after WW II retiring as a Master Chief Bos'n Mate. Now I live in a "rest home" located on the western end of Pearl Harbor allowing me to keep alive the memories of 23 years of service to my country. One of the benefits of my age, perhaps the only one, is to speak my ...

'Deferred disposition' an option for Californians ticketed in TexasLA County Libertarian Examiner When my wife and I went to Texas last year, I was pulled over three times in less than 2 weeks. Two of the three stops resulted in written 'warnings', but one of them resulted in a speeding citation. I suppose it might have been the California plates that stood out like a sore thumb, screaming 'easy money' to the revenue (traffic) officers. The first cop who stopped us was a real piece of work. We had driven two vehicles out there and I was driving east on interstate 10 in my truck, some distance in front of my wife, when a cop pulled me over. My wife, after approaching ...

Poll: Sheriff Joe Arpaio Is Strongest GOPer For Arizona Governor

A new Rasmussen poll of Arizona finds that Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who is known nationally his hard-line stance against illegal immigration, would be the strongest possible Republican candidate for governor in next year's election. Democratic state Attorney General Terry Goddard, the likely Dem nominee for governor, was tested against three Republicans. Goddard leads incumbent Republican Gov. Jan Brewer, who succeeded to the office after Dem Gov. Janet Napolitano was appointed Secretary of Homeland Security, by 44%-35%. Goddard edges state Treasurer Dean Martin by 40%-38%, within the ±3% margin of error. Arpaio, however, leads Goddard by a convincing margin of ...

New York Times www.nytimes.com/ Militia Movement Resurfaces Across Nation - NYTimes.com tinyurl.com/ybczg6c By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Published: November 20, 2009 NIKISKI, Alaska (AP) -- Norm Olson's genial tone belies his reputation as a radical militiaman, yet here he is, at 63, an affable grandfather explaining why Americans should arm themselves against their government. Walking stick in hand, clad in military fatigues, he strolls a trail in the woods near his home, located on 22 acres near Nikiski, a small, unincorporated community with isolated roads and no local government. The nearest state trooper post is two towns away. A fellow militiaman, armed with an assault rifle, ...

Fired Up! Missouri points out that the Lafayette County Republican Central Committee is highlighting a new billboard in the state with steps for a “citizens guide to revolution of a corrupt government“: This billboard replaces one that warned that the socialist “Obama-Nation” is “coming for you.” It’s unclear who the owner of the billboard is, but the first one was the work of a “Missouri businessman.” Poster Comment:This was posted at a Leftist website. They have 395 comments so far. None support revolution which is odd for socialists. Many think the ad is racist. And many say that it is illegal to revolt against the government. One said the ...

GLENN: I got a letter from a woman in Arizona. She writes an open letter to our nation's leadership: I'm a home grown American citizen, 53, registered Democrat all my life. Before the last presidential election I registered as a Republican because I no longer felt the Democratic Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. Now I no longer feel the Republican Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. The fact is I no longer feel any political party or representative in Washington represents my views or works to pursue the issues important to me. There must be someone. Please tell me who you are. Please stand up and tell me that you ...

Palin and Beck 2012? A match straight out of hades L.A. County Libertarian Examiner Photo: Tea Party in Santa Monica in 2007, before the movement was co-opted by neocon shills. Sarah Palin, former governor of Alaska who is making the media rounds promoting her book Going Rogue, has said that she would consider TV host Glen Beck as a running mate if she ran for president in two years: "I can envision a couple of different combinations, if ever I were to be in a position to really even seriously consider running for anything in the future, and I'm not there yet.. But Glenn Beck I have great respect for. He's a hoot. He gets his message across in such a clever way. And he's ...

As more and more Americans are awakening to the truth about what is going on in this country as far as our corrupt monetary system (central banking/fractional reserve banking/fiat currency) is concerned, the Banksters who implemented this system and make the most money from it are starting to get more and more annoyed. Their official mouthpiece, the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), has just published another major broadside on its website in order to “pooh-pooh” all of the information and protests that have exponentially risen in the last few years against the Banksters’ monetary machinations that are finally destroying the middle class in this country after almost 100 years in ...

NATO conference delegates joined anti-war protesters on Edinburgh's streets on Saturday as they took their message to the doorstep of the organisation's chiefs. Up to 1,000 demonstrators against the war on Afghanistan marched through the city centre where the annual NATO parliamentary assembly is currently taking place. Politicians and families of dead soldiers were joined on the march by union, student and anti-nuclear groups. The protest even involved some delegates from the assembly itself, including Dutch senator Tiny Kox. They joined their fellow legislators inside the city's conference centre after marchers had passed outside. SNP MSP Bill Kidd was among those on the ...

What have you got to hide? The answer may shock you: If you’re like most Americans, you have far more than you realize that you need to be hiding, and not doing so may be putting you and your family in grave danger. In his new book, Three Felonies a Day, attorney Harvey Silverglate holds that the typical American professional commits an average of three federal crimes a day, just going about their daily business, without even realizing it. And the only thing keeping them out of prison — make that keeping you out of prison — is the fact that federal prosecutors haven’t looked at you yet. “No social class or profession is safe from this troubling form of social ...

100 new militia groups since Obama elected; watchdog alarmed By David Edwards and Daniel Tencer Monday, November 16th, 2009 -- 10:20 am Some 100 new militia groups have formed since the election of President Barack Obama, says the Southern Poverty Law Center. In a re-run of the phenomenon seen when President Bill Clinton took office, gun-rights advocates, libertarians, survivalists and others are forming militias as a symbol of their resistance to what they see as an administration that threatens to restrict their right to bear arms and expand government control over the lives of private citizens. "The truth is that these groups are popping up like mushrooms after a spring ...

Republican & Democrat Hypocrisy Written by Marc Stevens Thursday, 12 November 2009 15:42 The hypocrisy these days is sickening, not from the politicians; we all know they’re a bunch of criminals who couldn’t care less about their victims. No, I’m speaking of the rank hypocrisy from the victims – republicans and democrats alike. The attention on government health care is as unrelenting as the hypocrisy. “Democrats” claim government mandated insurance is humane because people shouldn’t die because they don’t have health insurance. "Republicans” talk about liberty, that people should not be forced to buy a product or service. Really, ...

After President Obama announced he would fight the release of photographs showing American soldiers abusing “war on terror” detainees, Richard Haass, president of the quintessentially mainstream Council on Foreign Relations, said that Obama had learned the difference between campaigning and governing. He wasn’t being sarcastic. It was said during the presidential campaign that one of the candidates was running for George W. Bush’s third term. Did you think it was Obama? Obama has been doing a lot of “growing” in office. That’s the term the establishment uses when a candidate who apparently holds maverick views gets into office and abandons those views in ...
