ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin called President Barack Obama's health plan "downright evil" Friday in her first online comments since leaving office, saying in a Facebook posting that he would create a "death panel" that would deny care to the neediest Americans. "The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama's 'death panel' so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their 'level of productivity in society,' whether they are worthy of health care," the former Republican vice presidential candidate wrote. ...

UPDATE: St. Louis County police say six people were arrested. Two of those were arrested on suspicion of assault, one of resisting arrest and three on suspicion of committing peace disturbances. Carnahan was gone when the ruckus started. Kenneth Gladney, a 38-year-old conservative activist from St. Louis, said he was attacked by some of those arrested as he handed out yellow flags with “Don't tread on me” printed on them. He spoke to the Post-Dispatch from the emergency room of the St. John's Mercy Medical Center, where he said he was waiting to be treated for injuries to his knee, back, elbow, shoulder and face that he suffered in the attack. Gladney, who is black, said ...

From the YouTube description: As Rep. Kathy Castor was introduced, the reaction was overwhelmingly against her, with boos and chants of "You work for us." And in the lobby, the counter of Planned Parenthood representatives shouting, "Healthcare Now." Shortly thereafter, violence erupted, where there were 2-3 big goons came out and started pushing those in line, and roughing up one in the corner (see top left screen) as well as another being put in a choke hold. Directly in front of the gentleman in the plaid type shirt, is one of them in a flower print. (eleven o'clock from the camera phone in the scene.) To right of the phone, another in a white shirt. Businesses using music to deter crime and loitering Businesses around Seattle are blaring classical, opera and country music near their buildings as a way to deter crime and keep people from hanging around outside. By Phillip Lucas Seattle Times staff reporter The classical music blaring from speakers mounted on the light posts in a Rainier Beach parking lot keeps Richelle Reason walking. She never stops to hear the next song in the storefront symphony. "It's kind of annoying," she said of the music in the Saar's Market Place parking lot on South Henderson Street. That's exactly the point. In the past, crowds of up to 25 people would hang out in the lot, which ...

U.S. Military Preparing for Martial Law against the American People! Even before 9/11, the Military has been training our soldiers how to shut down cities, confiscate guns, and put Americans in camps. Watch for yourself. (more) After the controlled collapse of the US economy and US Dollar by the Federal Reserve, mass civil unrest will take place thus requiring massive detention centers to detain citizens. The US dollar, after it collapses and is worth nothing, will be replaced by the Amero as currency. The Amero will be the currency of the North American Union (US, Mexico, and Canada) after the 3 countries are merged and national sovereignty is erased for all 3! The concentration camps ...

Rereading 'Our Enemy, the State'

Rereading Our Enemy, the State Mises Daily by Cecil Palmer | Posted on 8/6/2009 For many more years than I now care to revive in my memory, I have publicly and privately proclaimed that there are at least three outstanding books in the English language which, if they had been read as widely and thoughtfully as they deserve to be, might have spared the world many of its present misfortunes. The books I have in mind are Milton's Areopagitica, Mill's On Liberty, and Spencer's Man versus the State. The lamps of liberty are going out, one by one, throughout the whole world. Indeed, this widening darkness is the supreme human tragedy of the age in which we live. In our desire to ...

The Wages of Ignorance Robert S. Griffin, Special to AR News, August 5, 2009 Just a few days after James von Brunn killed a security guard at the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC, a couple of journalists tried to link my activities and writings to the killing. This is hardly the first time the press has come after me (see “A Knock on the Door,” AR, December, 2006). I have been writing about race from a white perspective for years, and some people think that is reason enough to remove me from my position at the University of Vermont. These recent newspaper articles have only reminded me how banal and ignorant professional journalists usually are. The first piece appeared in a ...

Ark. crowd mocks lawmakers over Obama health plan

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - An unruly Little Rock crowd heckled and shouted at two Arkansas Democratic congressmen Wednesday, accusing them of supporting a government-backed health plan that would take away Americans' personal choice and freedom. At one point, U.S. Rep. Mike Ross sat with his head in his hands while the crowd shouted. He and fellow Democratic Rep. Vic Snyder told audience members at a forum at Arkansas Children's Hospital that they wouldn't support a completely government-run, single-payer health insurance plan. "But that's what Obama wants!" an audience member shouted, leading to more heckling. Ross, who represents south Arkansas, sits on the ...

I just want you to know that, when we talk about war, we're really talking about peace. — George W. Bush, June 18, 2002, 10:30 A.M. EDT We cannot afford peace at any price. - Newt Gingrich, May 29, 1998 Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent. We are fast approaching the stage...where the government is free to do anything it pleases...the stage of rule by brute force. Millions of words have been written, quite a few here at LRC, about selecting a firearm for self-defense. There are questions about make, model, caliber, handgun, shotgun or rifle. While there are thousands of opinions, there is only one that really counts: yours. There are quite a few questions you should ask yourself before you make your purchase. What is the application, or in simpler terms, how will I use this firearm? Will I be carrying it concealed? Will I only use it at home? Do I live in the city or on several acres? How much time to I have to devote to practice? What is my experience level with firearms? How much of my personal resources do I have to spend on this purchase? And of ...

Enlisting in the Military and the Decision To Kill

In the fall of 1999, I walked into an Army-Navy recruiting station in Boulder, Colorado in an attempt to enlist in the United States Armed Services. At the time, I was almost fanatically devoted to the Republican Party, (having gone so far as to re-found the Young Republicans’ Club at Fort Lewis College the year before), and I thought it was my duty in some sense to "serve my country" with a few years of my life spent in the military. I had always been an athlete, having played both soccer and rugby in high school, and I thought that recruiters would be literally tripping over themselves trying to enlist me into their respective branches of service. As it turned out, I was ...

All states allow a medical exemption and some states allow philosophical and/or religious exemptions. However, the American Medical Association and ChildrensHealthCare.org are actively promoting the abolishment of religious and philosophical exemptions. Likewise, other corporate fanatics are also challenging informed consent. Poster Comment:This website gives you advice and standard forms you can use to exempt yourself from forced vaccinations. According to RBN, the trials for H1N1 will not include the adjuvants squalene and mercury. This vaccine is so bad that the program will not be continued after the dirast ten or twenty million Americans are vaccinated. That means even a temporary ...

Police called on retirees at senator's LA office

Police were called on a group of retirees who refused to leave Sen. Dianne Feinstein's West Los Angeles office until she talked to them about health care reform. Los Angeles police Sergeant Rich Brunson said Thursday that police lured the group of seven outside somehow, then locked the building's doors behind them. Brunson had said earlier that eight people were being taken into custody, but corrected himself after getting new details from officers on the scene. A spokeswoman for the 55- to 87-year-old activists said they arrived at Feinstein's office around noon and remained in her conference room more than six hours. Read more: ...

Screaming constituents, protesters dragged out by the cops, congressmen fearful for their safety — welcome to the new town-hall-style meeting, the once-staid forum that is rapidly turning into a house of horrors for members of Congress. On the eve of the August recess, members are reporting meetings that have gone terribly awry, marked by angry, sign-carrying mobs and disruptive behavior. In at least one case, a congressman has stopped holding town hall events because the situation has spiraled so far out of control. “I had felt they would be pointless,” Rep. Tim Bishop (D-N.Y.) told POLITICO, referring to his recent decision to temporarily suspend the events in his Long ...

Neighbors of Daniel Boyd, a son of a Marine, are befuddled over his federal indictment on terrorism-related charges. Boyd, who attended a public high school here in Northern Virginia and who now lives in North Carolina, runs a dry-wall business in Raleigh. The feds are alleging that on the side, Boyd is a terrorist. Charles Casale, a neighbor of Boyd, said, “If he’s a terrorist, he’s the nicest terrorist I ever met in my life.” Now, mind you, they’re not claiming that Boyd has committed any terrorist attacks here in the United States or has even threatened to do so. In fact, they’re not even claiming that he has ties to al-Qaeda. What they’re saying is ...

AT&T Did Not Censor 4chan Written by Steven J. DuBord Wednesday, 29 July 2009 09:11 AT&T, on July 26, temporarily blocked its customers from accessing the img.4chan.org image-sharing website. Both AT&T and img.4chan.org founder Christopher “Moot” Poole say the blockage was not censorship but AT&T’s effort to protect its customers from a denial-of-service attack. Nonetheless, the incident brings net neutrality and Internet censorship back into the news. In an online statement on July 27, AT&T described how one of its customers “was impacted by a denial-of-service attack stemming from IP addresses connected to img.4chan.org.” AT&T tried to ...

Our friend JT is in quite a pickle. If your state recently passed a State Sovereignty Resolution, chances are it was because of the work of a man with quite a history of patriotism. Jack Travis Coyote is of mixed heritage (Cherokee, Choctaw, German, French, Irish) and a descendant of William Barret Travis, commander at the Battle of the Alamo. JT Coyote has helped Texas get its State Sovereignty Resolution passed. With it, we now have a way to say NO to the federal government. After a lengthy illness, and a raid on his house, Old ‘Yoti, as we call him, made headlines for his leadership in the truth movement. JT and his family are now facing loss of their home, which is also the ...

So much for the ongoing secrecy of the nation’s independent central banking system. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 75% of Americans favor auditing the Federal Reserve and making the results available to the public. Just nine percent (9%) of adults think that’s a bad idea and oppose it. Fifteen percent (15%) aren’t sure. Over half the members of the House now support a bill giving the Government Accounting Office, Congress’ investigative agency, the authorization to audit the books of the Federal Reserve Board. Support for the bill has grown now that the Obama administration is proposing to give the Fed greater economic regulatory powers. ...

I love it. The following is an account of Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, talking to Albert Jazeera: “When asked why the United States was not in FATA despite having the knowledge that Al Qaeda was present there, he [Admiral Mullen] said, ‘Because FATA is in Pakistan and Pakistan is a sovereign country and we don’t go into sovereign countries.’” Hahn? The hell we don’t. What was this buoyant cannibal thinking? The US loves to go into sovereign countries. It hardly does anything else. I suppose Iraq wasn’t sovereign. It isn’t now, but it was. How about Panama, Laos, Cambodia? We gave Pakistan, until recently sovereign, the ...

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — While protesters rallied in his support, the owner of a Concord Mills kiosk that sells conservative merchandise said he met with the mall's manager Sunday to see what arrangements can be made for him to remain after his lease expires Friday. Nothing was agreed to, except that the two would meet again Monday, said Loren Spivack, owner of Free Market Warrior. Spivack has contended that he's being kicked out of the mall for political reasons. He's traced his exile to a letter to the editor in the Charlotte Observer criticizing his business, saying it promotes “ideas such as racism, sexism and even slavery.” He said he was at work again Sunday ...
