Farmers and Ranchers Fight NAIS – and Win Written by Ann Shibler Friday, 25 July 2008 12:58 Small farmers, big ranchers, home farmers, animal and pet owners, and food freedom advocates have come together to legally fight implementation of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s National Animal Identification System (NAIS). The results are encouraging. Farm and ranch organizations, R-CALF USA being one of the leaders, along with the Farm-to-Consumer Foundation, NoNais.org run by farmer Walter Jeffries in Vermont, Farm and Ranch Freedom Alliance, and even a few rural newspapers, along with some concerned attorneys, have done yeoman’s service in the fight to oppose the onerous ...

JBS Action Alerts for the Week Ending 7/26/08 (1 alert) 1. Oppose H.R. 3221 — A Huge Bailout for Bad Loans H.R. 3221, the American Housing Rescue and Foreclosure Prevention Act of 2008, was passed by the House 272-152 on Wednesday, July 23, 2008. The Senate is expected to vote on the housing bill on July 25th or 26th. Enactment of the bill would be a victory for socialism and big government, but a travesty for U.S. taxpayers and limited government. This one-time energy bill was transformed into a vehicle for mortgage foreclosure prevention, then very recently revised again to include plans for preventing the failure of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, share-holder owned companies that ...

LOS ANGELES - Hate crimes in Los Angeles County soared last year to their highest mark in five years even as overall crime dropped across the region, according to a report obtained by The Associated Press. The annual report, to be published Thursday by the county's human relations commission, shows 763 hate crimes were reported in 2007, a 28 percent increase from 2006. The numbers buck last year's overall crime trends, which saw a decrease of 6 percent in Los Angeles County and 5 percent in the city of Los Angeles, the report notes. The most common hate crimes were those motivated by race, with 310 committed against black people and 125 against Latinos. However, crimes in which ...

WINNFIELD, La., July 23 (UPI) -- Louisiana authorities are awaiting the results of a state police report before deciding whether to file criminal charges in the Taser death of a handcuffed man. Baron "Scooter" Pikes, 21, was shocked nine times by officer Scott Nugent after being arrested on a cocaine charge in Winnfield earlier this year, CNN reported Wednesday. Nugent, who was fired as a result of the incident, may face criminal charges now that Pikes' death has been ruled a homicide. Winn Parish Coroner Randolph Williams says Pikes was jolted so many times with the 50,000-volt Taser that he might have been dead before the last two shocks were delivered. Williams said ...

Nothing Honorable About the Vietnam War NEW YORK--Every presidential candidacy relies on a myth. Reagan was a great communicator; Clinton felt your pain. Both storylines were ridiculous. But rarely are the constructs used to market a party nominee as transparent or as fictional as those we're being asked to swallow in 2008. Still more laughable than the notion of Obama as the second coming of JFK is the founding myth of the McCain campaign: (a) he is a war hero, and (b) said heroism increases his credibility on national security issues. "A Vietnam hero and national security pro," The New York Times calls him in a typical media blandishment. John McCain fought in Vietnam. ...

Military high court: racist speech not criminal

BOISE, Idaho -- A U.S. Army soldier who espoused racist views in an Internet profile was exercising his right to free speech, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces ruled Wednesday. Nearly eight years ago, military prosecutors charged Pfc. Jeremy T. Wilcox with making statements online that discredited the Armed Forces and were detrimental to good order and discipline. Wilcox was also accused of several other charges - including violating military rules by attending a Ku Klux Klan rally and encouraging participation in extremist organizations. Those charges were resolved separately and not part of the appeal to the Washington, D.C.-based military high court. A civilian police ...

My column on the FDA produced more than 2500 emails this past week; the master list of diseases is now updated. The issue of a nation self medicating on dangerous drugs approved by the FDA really struck a chord. In that column, I pointed out two major factors why Americans are so apathetic and stumbling through life without a clue: fluoride and aspartame. However, it goes even deeper. By reducing the population to little better than the level of cattle with only basic feelings like hunger, need for water and herding them with a prod (mother government), down goes self-reliance, self-determination and courage. Fed, watered and led to the slaughter house. How is this done? The master plans ...

This is the complete text of Patrick Henry's speech at St. John's Church in Richmond, Virginia on March 23, 1775. No man, Mr. President, thinks more highly than I do of the patriotism, as well as abilities, of the very worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the House. But different men often see the same subject in different lights; and, therefore, I hope it will not be thought disrespectful to those gentlemen if, entertaining as I do opinions of a character very opposite to theirs, I shall speak forth my sentiments freely and without reserve. This is no time for ceremony. The question before the House is one of awful moment to this country. For my own part, I consider it as ...

Free republics are not known to have long life expectancies. At the ripe old age of two hundred and thirty-two, America is definitely showing her age. She is long past her prime, and some are predicting her demise. No, some are PLANNING her demise.Thomas Jefferson and the other founders of this once-great country believed there was a controlling cabal that was crafting America's servitude. With the assistance of Heaven, they decided to fight those forces. Pastors fought with fiery sermons from the pulpit; newsmen fought with the power of the pen; statesmen fought in the halls of Congress; and merchants fought with the sacrifice of their material gain. Together, they lifted Lady Liberty ...

July 18, 2008 One Million Terrorists? by Paul Craig Roberts The Bush Regime's "terrorist" protection schemes have reached the height of total incompetence and utter absurdity. According to the American Civil Liberties Union, a private organization that defends the US Constitution that inattentive Americans neglect, there are now one million names on the "terrorist" watch list. One of them is that of former Assistant US Attorney General Jim Robinson, whose top security clearances are current. Every time Mr. Robinson flies away on business, he is delayed by a totally incompetent "terrorist" protection racket that cannot tell a person named Jim Robinson, ...

Cold blast from the past; Chilly neighborhood reception greets Mount Greenwood Seven at elementary school they integrated 40 years ago

It has been 40 years since a group of seven black eighthgraders were the first African Americans to attend Mount Greenwood Elementary School. The group was greeted with vulgar gestures, hoots and jeers by a crowd that at one point numbered 5,000. Although four decades have gone by, the racial intolerance that drove residents in the Irish-Catholic enclave to picket for six months -- in rain, sleet, and snow -- until the blacks students graduated, was still evident on Sunday when they returned to the school to take a photograph. "The first thing that struck us was there was a swastika on the bottom of the assembly hall door," said Toni Lewis Anderson. A Chicago Public Schools ...

Terry Childs, a 43-year-old computer network administrator who lives in Pittsburg, has been charged with four counts of computer tampering and is scheduled to be arraigned today. Prosecutors say Childs, who works in the Department of Technology at a base salary of just over $126,000, tampered with the city's new FiberWAN (Wide Area Network), where records such as officials' e-mails, city payroll files, ...

Dozens of protesters clashed with police escorting a march by gays and lesbians through the center of Budapest on Saturday, and two officers were injured and at least 45 demonstrators detained, police said. The protesters pelted the marchers with eggs, bottles and rocks, and threw cobblestones and Molotov cocktails at police, setting fire to a police van. Police used water cannon and tear gas to disperse the protesters at several points along Andrassy Road, a boulevard in downtown Budapest. At least 45 protesters were detained and two police officers injured, police spokeswoman Eva Tafferner said. It’s convenient when you want to take that impromptu photo, but a Tri-Cities area man ended up behind bars after snapping a shot of a Johnson County sheriff’s deputy during a traffic stop. The cell phone photographer says the arrest was intimidation, but the deputy says he feared for his life. “Here’s a guy who takes me out of the car and arrests me in front of my kids. For what? What Black Men Think: Film is a wake-up call to the African-American community By Robyn H. Jimenez, Contributing Writer July 7, 2008 DALLAS (Special to the NNPA from the Dallas Examiner) - "More than 100 years ago, Harriet Tubman was quoted as saying that: 'If I could have convinced more slaves that they really were slaves, I could have freed thousands more.' As you sit there in awe and wonder, questioning your ancestor's inability to be aware of the tragedy of their own circumstance, this I tell you and I tell you to be true, that 100 years from now, your descendents will look upon you with the same distain, questioning, how could you have let this happen? How could you ...
