Bank of the South to rival IMF and World Bank Post Date: 2007-10-17 03:23:07 by Horse

Venezuela's leftist government is leading Brazil, Argentina and other regional economies in creating a new bank with the ambition of casting off unwelcome oversight by the IMF and World Bank. The idea was first announced by Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez last December as part of his crusade against US influence and international financial institutions that he says are merely "tools of Washington." The finance and economy ministers of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela met last week in Rio de Janeiro to outline the main elements of the "Banco del Sur" -- or Bank of the South. The lender will provide "a new financial ...
It's the resistance, stupid Post Date: 2007-10-17 02:02:38 by Horse

The ultimate nightmare for White House/Pentagon designs on Middle East energy resources is not Iran after all: it's a unified Iraqi resistance, comprising not only Sunnis but also Shi'ites. "It's the resistance, stupid" - along with "it's the oil, stupid". The intimate connection means there's no way for Washington to control Iraq's oil without protecting it with a string of sprawling military "super-bases". The ultimate, unspoken taboo of the Iraq tragedy is that the US will never leave Iraq, unless, of course, it is kicked out. And that's exactly what the makings of a unified Sunni-Shi'ite resistance is set to accomplish. ...
Slaughter of the Innocents - Something is Rotten in Iraq and the Pentagon Post Date: 2007-10-16 11:11:53 by richard9151

10/15/07 "Counterpunch" -- -- Isn't it odd that in the air attack that the US military claims killed 19 high-ranking leaders of Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia and 15 civilians, all the slain Al Qaeda members were men and all the men were Al Qaeda, while all the civilians were women (6) and children (9)? Think about this a minute. This means that no women were Al Qaeda--and yet we know that women also fight, and also blow themselves up as suicide bombers. Yet these women were all civilians. The children, of course, were children. And we're to believe that there were no men who were innocent bystanders? All those adult males who were killed were "bad guys." Yet there ...
The $230 Million Bilderberg Writing Contest Post Date: 2007-10-14 21:50:39 by Horse

On 9-10-2001 Donald Rumsfeld admitted to a press conference that the Pentagon could not track $2.3 trillion in DOD spending. That is trillion and not billion. It is enough to give everyone in the U.S. $8,000 or you could, as we have done, give $230,000,000 each to 10,000 people. Here at the Bilderberg Society we have been challenged to explain 9-11 and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. We have decided to grant a one time gift of $230,000,000 and honorary Bilderberg Society membership to the one man or woman who will in writing explain all of the loose ends readers have found the Maintream Media. Frankly, our employees in the press have not been up to the task. America does suffer from ...

I find it ironic the abuse our young take in this society of ours that supposedly worships the concept of youth and spends millions trying to retain it. Several years ago I went through the whole procedure of trying to keep my children out of the hands of the military recruiters in our school because I was reading about the refinancing and re-manning of the Selective Service Department and I was worried about the possibility of a draft. I thought at the time how cowardly the leaders of a country have to be to implement a draft. Forcing young men to fight, knowing full well that their reason for war wasnt good enough to convince fathers and sons to want to fight on their own. That the ...

DALLAS The FBI has issued an intelligence warning for Dallas-area law enforcement officers because of information that an alleged leader of the Aryan Brotherhood is trying to gather the names of federal agents, state troopers and police officers, according to a broadcast report. Dallas-Fort Worth television station KTVT reported Tuesday that the intelligence bulletin warns that an alleged Aryan Brotherhood leader awaiting trial is seeking out members of the brotherhood who were recruited as police informants to gather the information about officers. The FBI fears the officers' names could be used to locate their residences, telephone numbers or undercover status. The ...
Resign from the American Psychological Association (Over Torture) Post Date: 2007-10-09 21:05:37 by Horse

The damage to the American Psychological Association from its indefensible position supporting psychologists participating in interrogations where human rights are ignored, and its weak stand, full of loopholes, against bushs torture regime. Right after the APA Convention in August, noted psychologist and author Mary Pipher returned an award to the APA in protest of these policies. Today, Beth Shinn, former President of two APA divisions, resigned from the APA because the American Psychological Association continues to condone psychologists work in detention centers that violate international law and because of actions by APAs leadership to discourage dissent from ...
Inappropriate Civility Post Date: 2007-10-09 10:06:47 by christine

Dear Subscriber, People often lament the lack of "civil discourse" when it comes to political matters, and suggest that we should all just "agree to disagree," and respect each other's opinions. For most topics of discussion, I would whole-heartedly agree. For example, people ought to be able to disagree on who the best NFL quarterback is without getting into fist-fights, or debate the zoological classification of the panda bear without having a shootout. However, there are actually times when "civility" is a BAD thing. For example, if someone said to you, "In my humble opinion, your family should be murdered," would you merely "agree to ...
Fremont farmer plants dead-end message on war in Iraq Post Date: 2007-10-09 08:34:57 by angle

'Anti-maze' has kernel of dissent Dave Rimelspach enjoys poking fun at corn mazes. But he is serious about Iraq, saying 'War is not good.' FREMONT - The message hovering over Dave Rimelspach's cornfield is none too subtle. At the end of a straightaway, 200-foot-long path cut into the field is a sign that says, "Iraqi Corn Maze: No Way Out." The "maze" is, quite simply, a dead end. "It's not really a corn maze. It's pretty much a spoof on corn mazes, and I guess it's a political statement too," said Mr. Rimelspach, 52, who opposes the war but said he's "not radical" about it. "How can anybody be for the ...

Merle Haggard -- the author and singer of countless country classics, from "Mama Tried" to "Workin' Man Blues" -- has long been known as the poet of the common man. Or, as he tells us: "I'm the poor man's Alan Greenspan." Having survived San Quentin, heart surgery, divorce, road life, record label troubles and the IRS, the septuagenarian from Oildale, Calif., is still making music: There was an album and tour this year with fellow Country Music Hall of Famers Ray Price and Willie Nelson -- and last week Haggard released "The Bluegrass Sessions." It's the first foray into bluegrass for the honky-tonk hero who helped pioneer ...
Unable to Defeat Mahdi Army, US Hopes to Divide It Post Date: 2007-10-09 05:52:03 by Ada

Despite the U.S. military command's frequent assertions that the primary threat to U.S. forces in Iraq comes from Iranian meddling, its real problem is that Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr's Mahdi army is determined to end the occupation and is simply too big and too well entrenched to be weakened by military force. The U.S. command began trying to enter into a political dialogue with Sadr's followers in early 2006 and now claims that such a dialogue has begun, according to a Sept. 12 article by Ned Parker of the Los Angeles Times. And Gen. David Petraeus hinted in his congressional testimony last month at the need to negotiate a deal with the Sadrists. Petraeus said it is ...
[Washington] Post editor says Bush, Gonzales should be tortured Post Date: 2007-10-08 14:53:59 by robin

An associate editor and columnist for the Washington Post says that until George W. Bush and others in his administration endure the "harsh" treatment to which terrorism suspects are subjected, then Bush "will be remembered as the president who tried to justify torture." Saying his proposal is a "serious" alternative to Jonathan Swift's "modest proposal," the Post's Eugene Robinson says Bush should endure the same detainee treatment he authorized, which "international conventions deem torture." "My proposal on torture is serious," Robinson wrote on a washingtonpost.com discussion board Sunday. "Let me know if you ...

Jim Hightower: REVISITING THE ARREST OF PROTESTERS Post Date: 2007-10-05 23:43:50 by kiki

If you just cant bring yourself to believe that our government authorities would even think of suppressing the legitimate protests of peaceful demonstrators look at the record of court cases recently coming out of New York. You might recall media reports from the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York, when 1,100 people were arrested in one day during anti-war demonstrations. Most media pundits joined the authorities in praising the police for stopping these dangerous troublemakers. But the city now faces 605 lawsuits from people contending they were merely exercising their right to free speech and assembly making no trouble at all. And now, based ...
Carol Anne Gotbaum: Victim Of Death By Government Post Date: 2007-10-05 06:32:17 by Ada

These three things I know for sure: *I am not of Scandinavian ancestry. *There is no difference between "good" flan and "bad" flan.* *Carol Anne Gotbaum did not strangle herself with the handcuffs that were used to restrain her. Thus it follows that the Phoenix Police Department, which claimed that the tiny, 45-year-old mother of three small children somehow choked herself on the cuffs, is concealing the truth about what killed her. Mrs. Gotbaum, who was on mood stabilizing drugs (which she hadn't taken that morning), was detained at Phoenix's Sky Harbor Airport en route to a very expensive alcohol rehabilitation clinic in Tucson. Her family contact ...

An Open Letter From Karl Schwarz To Erik Prince, Blackwater USA By Karl Schwarz 10-3-7 Hello Erik, Anne, I have read what was said about the testimony Erik Prince gave before Congress. Erik, you can hide behind your media mouth pieces but you cannot hide from God. The message cannot get any more simplistic than that. Before you decide to "tee off" or ignore my email take note that I am a very conservative Republican who thinks your company represents what is worst about America under the current GOP agenda. Even though I am in Europe I am a very well known American and respected for simple words like character, honesty, integrity, honor, etc. I am well enough known over this ...

Just because I posted these two pieces does not mean that I promote the message; there is good info within the pieces, but there is also a lot of misdirection and outright lies. Remember, this piece was written by a Jew, and Socialism, according to the Jews, is a Jewish movement. It also needs to be noted, as has been posted in 4um numerous times, that capitalism and socialism are simply two arms of the same international beast; the Jewish bankers. September 17, 2007 CROSSPOST AT AUTHORS BLOGSITE: SUSANS BLOG Part I (September 17) discussed the deepening conflict between the rulers and the ruled and the disagreements within the elite on how to address the nations ...

LONDON: David Irving, the discredited British historian who until recently was serving a three-year jail sentence in Austria for Holocaust denial, will soon launch a speaking tour of British cities and publish a series of new books, according to a recent interview with The Guardian. Irving plans to speak in Halifax and Birmingham as well as at several undisclosed universities as part of his comeback. He was also scheduled to speak in Coventry last Friday 51; but the event was disrupted by protesters. "I have kept a low profile for several months because I have had to sort out where to live and to address my financial situation," he said, "But now I am ready to start ...
