Mar 28, 9:08 AM EDT BAGHDAD (AP) -- Shiite militants and police enraged by massive truck bombings in the northwestern town of Tal Afar went on a revenge spree against Sunni residents there Wednesday, killing as many as 60 people, officials said. The gunmen began roaming Sunni neighborhoods in the city, shooting at residents and homes, according to police and a local Sunni politician. Ali al-Talafari, a Sunni member of the local Turkomen Front Party, said the Iraqi army had arrested 18 policemen accused of being involved after they were identified by the Sunni families targeted. But he said the attackers included Shiite militiamen. He said more than 60 Sunnis had been killed, but ...

Uruguay to Study Kissinger Extradition Request Montevideo, March 25 (Prensa Latina) The Uruguayan justice will begin studying on Monday an arrest and extradition order against ex US secretary of State Henri Kissinger. Prosecutor Mirtha Guianze will analyze the documents related to the request, in the framework of the case known as "Second Flight," said a well-known investigator. The arrest order of Kissinger was requested by lawyer Gustavo Salles, who represents the relatives of Bernardo Arnone, detained in the public highway in Buenos Aires, on October 2, 1976. Several sources presume that Arnone was one the members of that organization who, after being kidnapped, was taken ...

As we reported in our previous article, the upcoming Give Me Liberty 2007 conference will examine U.S. Middle East Policy through the prism of the U.S. Constitution. During the conference we will examine the work of professors Mearsheimer (University of Chicago) and Walt (Harvard University) titled, “The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy,” and the book by Jimmy Carter titled, Palestine Peace Not Apartheid. Substantial documentary evidence presented by Mearsheimer, Walt and Carter supports the argument that the United States has abandoned its own national interest and security to advance the interests of Israel, that neither strategic nor moral arguments can justify America’s ...

What is wrong with Dick Cheney? Since the earliest days of his vice presidency, people have been asking this question. At first, it was mostly out of partisan pique; but, increasingly, it's in troubled tones, as one of the most powerful men on the planet grows ever more rigid, belligerent, and just plain odd in both his public utterances ("Go fuck yourself," Senator Leahy) and private actions (shoot a man in the face and not bother to call your boss 'til the next day: What's up with that?). In October 2005, longtime Bush-Cheney pal Brent Scowcroft fanned the Dick-has-changed flames when he told The New Yorker, "I consider Cheney a good friend--I've known him ...

BATFE Killing Idaho's Oldest Gun Shop

March 21, 2007BATFE Killing Idaho's Oldest Gun Shop Red's Trading Post in Twin Falls, Idaho, is the state's oldest gun shop, opened since 1936. In 2004, a routine BATFE audit revealed minor clerical errors. According to Red's, out of nearly ten THOUSAND firearms transferred between 1996 and 2004, the alleged error rate did not even reach 1%. Even the BATFE acknowledges these are minor paperwork errors -- there are no missing firearms and no willful illegal acts. And yet the BATFE has revoked the ability of Red's Trading Post to acquire firearms for resale, although they're still permitted to sell the firearms in stock ... for now. But that's not enough -- the ...

From my last name, a lot of folks wouldn’t think half my ancestors were English – Clarks and Bishops and Higginbothams, some active in the emancipation movement as much as three centuries ago. Digging through the family archives, I find a yellowed letter to one Zebulon Clark, penned in 1757 – three-quarters of a century before the abolition of chattel slavery in Britain and the possessions. The letter responds to an abolitionist pamphlet penned by my ancestor a short time before: "Zebulon Clark contends the chattels have a right to the fruits of their own labors. Perhaps he doesn’t take sugar in his tea, wear cotton clothing dyed with indigo, or make use of any of ...

What is the Role of the Family?

What Is The Role Of The Family? Although the major media and those who formulate government policy have yet to acknowledge it, family environment does not determine intelligence or personality. For a society imbued with the egalitarian myth, it is unacceptable that important individual and group differences should have genetic origins. But even if family environment has little effect on individual traits, it can play a crucial role in instilling the values and expectations that determine the fortunes of the group. A child’s abilities and personality are largely established at birth, but the focus of his most important loyalties appear to be formed within the family. The traits and ...

The administration has said that Iraq has no right to stockpile chemical or biological weapons ("weapons of mass destruction") -- mainly because they have used them in the past. Well, if that's the standard by which these matters are decided, then the U.S. is the nation that set the precedent. The U.S. has stockpiled these same weapons (and more) for over 40 years. The U.S. claims that this was done for deterrent purposes during the "Cold War" with the Soviet Union. Why, then is it invalid for Iraq to claim the same reason (deterrence) -- with respect to Iraq's (real) war with, and the continued threat of, its neighbor Iran? The administration claims that Iraq ...

Army Revises Upward the Number of Desertions

By A total of 3,196 active-duty soldiers deserted the Army last year, or 853 more than previously reported, according to revised figures from the Army. The new calculations by the Army, which had about 500,000 active-duty troops at the end of 2006, significantly alter the annual desertion totals since the 2000 fiscal year. In 2005, for example, the Army now says 2,543 soldiers deserted, not the 2,011 it had reported. For some earlier years, the desertion numbers were revised downward. National Public Radio first reported on Tuesday that the Army had been inaccurately reporting desertion figures. A soldier is considered a deserter if he leaves his post without permission, quits his unit ...

Few writers anywhere make the country come alive like he can. Ross has written eight books of fiction and non-fiction and is one of the few surviving Beat poets with nine chapbooks of poetry in and out of print, the ...

Is 2008 The Year Conservatives Abandon The GOP?

By Chuck Baldwin It is no hyperbole to say that conservatives throughout America are extremely disappointed and disillusioned with the national Republican Party. This discouragement is only deepened as they peruse the field of prominent candidates being trotted out as “frontrunners.” It appears that conservatives will be asked to choose between the chameleon Mitt Romney, the pro-amnesty-for-illegal-aliens John McCain, and philanderers Newt Gingrich and Rudy Giuliani. A few conservatives seem slightly excited that former Tennessee senator Fred Thompson is mulling entrance into the presidential race. However, a closer inspection of his voting record finds him to be just another ...

During a second day of increase violence, at least 143 Iraqis were killed or found dead and 124 more were injured. Most of the incidents were small in nature with the exception of a clash near Fallujah that left almost 60 people dead. Also, two American servicemembers were killed when an explosive device blasted their vehicle during a security patrol in Baghdad. The U.S. military also released the names of three previously unreported GI deaths that occurred on Mar. 17 in separate events in Baghdad, Tikrit, and Muqdadiyah. Former vice-president under Saddam Hussein, Taha Yassin Ramadan, was executed before dawn for crimes against humanity. He is the third Saddam aide to be executed since the ...

Uncle Sam Wants YOU Gay (Your Children Too) March 16, 2007 By Henry Makow, Ph.D. I've said this before but it's more true than ever. A satanic cult (Illuminism) is undermining our family identity to render us isolated, childless, sex-obsessed, dysfunctional, and docile. I am referring to the Masonic Rothschild-Rockefeller cult-cartel which runs Europe and America and is behind Communism and Feminism. Destroying marriage and family was a plank of the Communist Manifesto (1848) and now is part of their satanic NWO. (See quotations at end.) We don't recognize that society is being re-engineered gay because we think of homosexuality in terms of same-sex attraction. If we ...

Homeowner had 'a right to resist' Judge acquits John Coffin on 5 felony charges; Coffin gets time served on 6th. By TODD RUGER SARASOTA -- John Coffin won't spend any more time in jail for beating up two sheriff's deputies inside his house, striking one in the head with a Taser gun he took from the other. Circuit Judge Rick De Furia said at Coffin's trial Tuesday that he doesn't condone the violence against the deputies. But Coffin, 56, had a right to defend his family and property because the deputies had no right to be in Coffin's house in the first place, De Furia said. "Law enforcement was responsible for the chain of events here," ...

Arrests made at White House; storm might trim weekend turnout. Dozens of demonstrators, many of them Christian peace activists, were arrested outside the White House late last night and early this morning as part of a protest against the war in Iraq. About 11:30 p.m., police began handcuffing the first of about 100 protesters who had assembled on the White House sidewalk to pray in a planned act of civil disobedience. The protesters were part of a larger group that had assembled at the Washington National Cathedral for a service on the fourth anniversary of the start of the war. From the service, demonstrators marched through the wind, cold and dampness to the White House. The ...

Radicalism versus "pragmatism" in Brian Doherty's Radicals for Capitalism Brian Doherty’s Radicals for Capitalism: A Freewheeling History of the Modern American Libertarian Movement, contains just about everything you might find in such a book: portraits of movement luminaries, such as Ludwig von Mises, Ayn Rand, Murray Rothbard, Milton Friedman, and Friedrich Hayek, as well as walk-ons by various proto-libertarians of the Benjamin Tucker-Liberty school of "freethinkers" and feminists who constituted their own little turn-of-the-century Bohemia. Most interestingly, Radicals for Capitalism chronicles the forgotten organizational history of the libertarian ...

David Irving's Speech In Hungary - Let Freedom Ring 3-15-7 David Irving delivered this speech in Budapest, today in the afternoon under sunny skies, at the front of approximately 10,000 people at Heroes Square. BUDAPEST -- "I bring you greetings from all the friends of Hungary in my country, England....the Hungarians who live in England -- and there are many who fled from the first communist regime in 1956 -- and from all your friends and admirers, and there are many of these too. One of them, my own Prime Minister, Tony Blair, has so far still ...

House overturns Bush order on papers secrecy

Brushing aside a veto threat, the House of Representatives voted on Wednesday to overturn a 2001 order by President George W. Bush that lets former presidents keep their papers secret indefinitely. The measure, which drew bipartisan support and passed by a veto-busting 333-93 margin, was among White House-opposed bills the House passed that would widen access to government information and protect government whistleblowers. "Today, Congress took an important step toward restoring openness and transparency in government," House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Henry Waxman (news, bio, voting record) said. The presidential papers bill nullifies a November 2001 ...
