A 30-year-old man who worked as a press spokesman for John McCain was arrested for allegedly punching his girlfriend, breaking one of her ribs. Barry Flynn was fired by the McCain campaign after it learned about his arrest on Wednesday. He pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault and battery at his arraignment at Boston Municipal Court later Wednesday and was released on $500 bail. Flynn had been a spokesman for the McCain campaign since August, working in New Hampshire before that state’s Jan. 8 primary. "We’ve severed all ties with him and did so immediately upon learning of the situation," said Jill Hazelbaker, communications director for the McCain campaign. ...

Man50D Posted on 02/07/2008 10:39:44 AM PST by Man50D Romney has now bowed out of the race leaving only McCain, Paul and Huckabee. It's impossible the latter two have any chance of garnering enough delegates to win the nomination. That leaves McCain. He has slapped Conservatives in the face more than enough times by siding with Socialist Democrats on issues. It's clear McCain will take the GOP farther to the left. The question now becomes how many of you have had enough of the GOP abandoning Conservatism and will in turn leave ...

Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT), who endorsed Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) for president, will be disqualified as a superdelegate at the Democratic convention "under what is informally known as the Zell Miller rule." In 2004, Miller -- then a Democratic senator from Georgia -- attacked Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) in a speech at the Republican National Convention. The DNC "responded with a rule disqualifying any Democrat who crosses the aisle from being a super delegate."

Hillary’s Crocodile Tears in Connecticut

I have just seen Hillary Clinton and her former Yale law professor both in tears at a campaign rally here in my home state of Connecticut. Her tearful professor said how proud he was that his former student was likely to become our next President. Hillary responded in tears. My own reaction was of regret that, when I terminated her employment on the Nixon impeachment staff, I had not reported her unethical practices to the appropriate bar associations. Hillary as I knew her in 1974 At the time of Watergate I had overall supervisory authority over the House Judiciary Committee's Impeachment Inquiry staff that included Hillary Rodham-who was later to become First Lady in the Clinton ...

"The idea that we can afford to have a big fight at the convention and then win the race in the next eight weeks, I think, is not a good scenario," Dean said according to excerpts of an interview with NY1 television. In state nominating contests so far, no clear winner has emerged among Democrats ...

youdecide08.foxnews.com/2...s-out-invisible-ink-pens/ Voting Snafu in Illinois After Judge Hands Out ‘Invisible Ink’ Pens by Associated Press Tuesday, February 5, 2008 Election officials reported few problems with primary voting in Illinois on Tuesday despite a snafu involving invisible ink. An election judge gave voters styluses used for touch screen voting instead of ink pens in one precinct, said Jim Allen, a spokesman for the Chicago Board of Elections. Voters complained that they were unable to make a mark after the judge told them that the pens used invisible ink. About 20 voters got the “invisible ink” pens that didn’t cast any votes. Dumbocracy: Hundreds Try to Vote on the Wrong Day - Voters in Non-Super Tuesday States Complain That Polling Places Are Closed

Hoping to vote early, vote often — or both — thousands of citizens from some of the 27 states that did not hold primaries or caucuses on Super Tuesday mistakenly turned out to cast ballots anyway. Many of them called local officials to complain their polls were closed. Caught up in the buzz surrounding yesterday's contests — the biggest day of primary balloting in this or any previous year — voters in states like Washington, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Virginia, which won't hold primaries until later this month, showed up at shuttered polling places and called their boards of elections to complain. Several hundred people in Florida, mostly in Palm Beach and ...

The Winter of Our Discontent

Election season, 2008 This is one election season in which the conventional wisdom is no sooner formulated than it is refuted by events: Hillary was "inevitable" – now she's content to hold her ground. Rudolph Giuliani was the "frontrunner" in the national polls – today he's a laughingstock, who earned the distinction of paying the most cash ever for a single delegate. As I put it at the tail end of last year, the theme of election season '08 is the collapse of the alleged frontrunners. On the Democratic side, the big story is Barack Obama's strong challenge to the Clinton machine: coming on strong as the antiwar candidate, with ads that ...

Hillary Hopes You've Forgotten - Have You?

Hillary Clinton has been telling America that she is the most qualified candidate for president based on her "record," which she says includes her eight years in the White House as First Lady - or "co-president" - and her seven years in the Senate. Here is a reminder of what that record includes: HILLARY, As First Lady, assumed authority over Health Care Reform, a process that cost the taxpayers over $13 million. She told both Bill Bradley and Pat Moynahan, key votes were needed to pass her legislation, that she would "demonize "anyone who opposed it. But it was opposed; she couldn't even get it to a vote in a Congress controlled by her own party. (And in ...

LONDON (AP) - Americans seeking a change in foreign policy and a new national image abroad flocked to churches in Rome, town halls in England and an Irish pub in Hong Kong on Tuesday to vote in a Democrats Abroad primary. The voting will determine who gets the 11 votes allocated to Democrats Abroad at the Democratic National Convention in August. The group is allowing online voting—a first for voters overseas—that will continue for one week. Porchester Hall in central London was jammed with high-spirited voters Tuesday evening as rival groups backing Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama chanted and waved banners for their candidates. Republicans, meanwhile, made their Super ...

Obama claims delegate lead

In a surprise twist after a chaotic Super Tuesday, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) passed Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) in network tallies of the number of delegates the candidates racked up last night. The Obama camp projects topping Clinton by nine delegates, 845 to 836. NBC News, which is projecting delegates based on the Democratic Party's complex formula, figures Obama will wind up with 840 to 849 delegates, versus 829 to 838 for Clinton. Clinton was portrayed in many news accounts as the night’s big winner, but Obama’s campaign says he wound up with a higher total where it really counts — the delegates who will choose the party’s nominee at this ...
