Mitt Romney ‘Dyed His Face Brown’ to Appeal to Latino Voters
Post Date: 2012-09-20 17:20:52 by Americans 1st

Mitt Romney currently trails President Obama among registered Latino voters by nearly 40%, and getting caught saying things like "it would be helpful to be Latino" certainly isn't helping. But has it gotten so bad that Romney is now resorting to "brownface" in order to make himself more appealing to Univision viewers? Democratic Underground has looked at the photo above from last night's "presidential forum" and concluded that, yes, Romney definitely "dyed his face brown." Wonkette wonders if perhaps the GOP nominee was involved in some sort of "self-tanner accident" or perhaps went out tanning with John Boehner "for a little ...

Study of U.S. campaign ads finds growing role of outside groups
Post Date: 2012-09-13 04:37:21 by Tatarewicz

WASHINGTON, Sep. 12, 2012 (Reuters) — Unlimited spending driven by Republican groups is responsible for an outsized share of advertising in the 2012 campaign season that feeds the markedly negative stream of ads, according to an academic analysis released on Wednesday. Super PACs, or political action committees, and tax-exempt advocacy groups accounted for nearly a third of all the ads aired in the U.S. presidential race, according to a study by the Wesleyan Media Project that analyzed broadcast and national cable spots run between April 26 and September 8. "The key dynamic of this campaign is the increased presence of these outside groups in all key races across the federal ...

"Why I won't vote" (1956 - W.E.B. Dubois)

Why I Won't Voteby W.E.B. DuboisThis article was republished in Hartford Web Publishing [9].“No ‘two evils’ exist. There is but one evil party with two names.”Since I was twenty-one in 1889, I have in theory followed the voting plan strongly advocated by Sidney Lens in The Nation of August 4, i.e., voting for a third party even when its chances were hopeless, if the main parties were unsatisfactory; or, in absence of a third choice, voting for the lesser of two evils. My action, however, had to be limited by the candidates' attitude toward Negroes. Of my adult life, I have spent twenty-three years living and teaching in the South, where my voting choice was not ...

Spanish Company Will “Count” American Votes Overseas In November

When the Spanish online voting company SCYTL bought the largest vote processing corporation in the United States, it also acquired the means of manufacturing the outcome of the 2012 election. For SOE, the Tampa based corporation purchased by SCYTL in January, supplies the election software which records, counts, and reports the votes of Americans in 26 states–900 total jurisdictions–across the nation. As the largest election results reporting company in the US, SOE provides reports right down to the precinct level. But before going anywhere else, those election returns are routed to individual, company servers where the people who run them “…get ‘first look’ ...

In their latest issue-by-issue compare and contrast of the 2012 presidential race between Barack Hussein Obama and Willard (“Call me Mitt”) Romney, the Christian Science Monitor concludes that, “Immigration could be a pivotal issue in the 2012 presidential race, and Barack Obama knows it.” It quotes Steven Schier, political scientist at Carleton College in Northfield, MN, that a “strong Latino turnout is critical to Obama’s victory and a successful exploitation of the immigration issue by his campaign could ensure a second term in the White House.” Their analysis demonstrates how “Obama is seeking to press his advantage among Latino voters, ...

Summation

Some people have the vocabulary to sum up things in a way that you can quickly understand. This quote came from the Czech Republic . It was translated into English from an article in the Prague newspaper Prager Zeitungon on 04.28.2010. "The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of ...

Destabilizing Venezuela Pre-Election

Destabilizing Venezuela Pre-Election by Stephen Lendman On October 7, Venezuelans get to choose between Bolivarianism under Chavez and Henrique Capriles Radonski's corporatism they rejected resoundingly in 1998. Polls show they'll do it again. IVAD late August results show Chavez ahead 55% to 34%. Only 10% of Venezuelans are undecided. Eight major July polls showed Chavez leading by 15 - 27%. Subsequent ones weeks later revealed his support remains strong. Few doubt October's outcome. At issue is only by how much. On December 16, regional elections follow. In late August, Chavez warned that opposition forces plan to declare victory before electoral results are announced. ...

Does anyone remember when National Public Radio was an independent voice? During the 1980s NPR was continually on the case of the Reagan administration. NPR certainly had a Democratic slant, and a lot of its reporting about the Reagan administration was one-sided. Yet, NPR was an independent voice, and it sometimes got things correct. In the 21st century that voice has disappeared, which was the intention of the George W. Bush regime. Bush put a Republican woman in charge who made it clear to NPR producers and show hosts that the federal part of their funding was at risk. Money often over-rules principle, and when corporations added their really big money NPR collapsed. Today the local ...

CHARLOTTE, N.C.—On Tuesday, a group of more than 100 protesters shouting "Obama is a traitor" temporarily shut down official bus service that ferries around delegates at the Democratic National Convention. The protesters, some of whom were lying down in the street, were surrounded by Charlotte police, who used their bicycles to build a barrier around the group. "What do you think of free speech zones?" shouted one protester to the police and onlookers, referring to the cordoned-off areas for activists. "Does that seem strange to you?" Protesters also shouted that accused WikiLeaks source Bradley Manning should be freed. At one point, the protesters raised ...

Liz Wills remembers the unbelievable feeling when Barack Obama entered the White House in January 2009. Now she looks fearfully at the specter of his defeat by a Republican candidate she sees as gripped by the racist right. "I'm old enough to have seen the 'black' and 'white' signs for bathrooms, schools segregated, you couldn't ride in the front of the bus or the train. I saw all of that. I lived through that," Wills, 73, of Durham, North Carolina, told AFP. "It's not supposed to be segregated now but there's a lot like that still. Racism is alive and well and thriving," she said, speaking in Charlotte, where Democrats are gathering to ...

My name is Jay Stang. I was a national delegate from the 22nd district of Texas. I was one of the people leading the successful effort to turn in the required support of six states to get Ron Paul on the nomination ballot. Unfortunately, the RNC ran out of toilet paper five minutes after we turned the forms in. I have read on Daily Paul several comments and posts about leaving the Republican Party. Should we leave? Hell no. I will not tell you what to do; after all, this is the liberty movement. I will tell you what the RNC wants, and that is for you to leave. They want you to throw up your hands in despair and decamp for the Libertarian Party. That way, the RNC and PTB and the NWO can ...

Video of RNC Teleprompter Showing Scripted Voting Results Before Voting Finished This video was made on August 28, 2012 during the vote on the new controversial RNC rules. It shows the PREDETERMINED SCRIPT of the proceedings of the Republican National Convention, INCLUDING THE OUTCOME OF THE VOTING. They refused to actually counts votes, but simply ruled that “the ayes have it” as the teleprompter instructed them to do. This video leaves no doubt that the results of the voting were decided in advance on the convention. Congratulations Romney supporters, you just DESTROYED the Republican Party and facilitated the end of America. This is the day when the Bankers quit hiding the ...

The Real Convention Is On Romney Yacht

August 30, 2012 "Information Clearing House" - One of the reasons this Republican convention has been so deathly dull is that the real action isn't at the convention. It's at Cracker Bay. That's the name of the yacht that the Romney team just hosted 50 partiers, including some of his top donors. This was one of about a dozen events outside of the convention where they had private meetings with donors giving more than $1 million dollars to his campaign. Over $1 million a piece. Now, where do you think the real policy gets made? You think Mitt Romney gives a damn what a delegate thinks? The only delegates that matter were on that yacht. They call this group the ...

Circus Shenanigans in Tampa by Stephen Lendman Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey calls theirs "the greatest show on earth." Politics in America combines sham with show me the money. Republicans got first dibs. Their version of politics US-style hits Tampa from August 27 - 30. Mother nature had first say. Isaac's fury claimed day one. Perhaps its message was nyet on three days of hype, bombast, fraud, and promises made to be broken. The following week, Democrats have their turn. Charlotte, NC hosts three days from September 4 - 6. Growing numbers of Americans reject both parties. A pox on politics serving elite interests only. They're in lockstep on all issues ...

The Bain Files: The Documents John Cook Gawker has obtained a large cache of confidential internal financial documents from more than 20 secretive hedge funds and other investment vehicles in which Mitt Romney has stashed his considerable wealth. All told, the partnerships and limited liability corporations detailed below accounted for, at minimum, $10,069,000 of Romney's assets in 2011 and yielded $913,300 in income, according to his 2012 financial disclosure (those figures are derived from adding up the low end of ranges Romney disclosed; the actual numbers could be astronomically higher). Most of the entities are affiliated in one way or another with Bain Capital, the private ...

Why We Need a Second Party (Must Read)

he argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea. Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can ‘throw the rascals out’ at any election without leading to any profound or extensive shifts in policy. —Carroll Quigley[1] The above assertion is not the product of my imagination. It was written by Georgetown University professor and Bill Clinton’s mentor Carroll Quigley, probably the scholar who most closely studied the conspirators at the Council on Foreign Relations. When the electorate grows weary of one of the Establishment ...

This afternoon, the Arkansas secretary of state’s office announced that an initiative that aims to allow Arkansas patients with qualifying conditions to use cannabis for therapeutic purposes has qualified for the ballot in November. The campaign backing the initiative, Arkansans for Compassionate Care, had submitted their initial signatures for approval in July, only to come up short. The state allowed them additional time and the campaign was able to meet the required threshold of 62,507 valid signatures. Arkansas now joins Massachusetts and Montana on the list of states voting on medical cannabis measures this fall. These measures, taken with the legalization initiatives in ...

Federal judge votes Nevada's 'None of the Above' option off ballot

Nevada voters are going to have to pick a candidate or stay home from the polls, now that a federal judge has struck down the Silver State's unique "none of the above" ballot option just in time for a crucial Senate election. U.S. District Judge Robert C. Jones tossed the option, which has been on Nevada state election ballots since 1978. The protest vote had become a tradition in which disgusted voters vented their spleens and sent a message to candidates. But a GOP-linked law firm filed suit, claiming that the protest choice disenfranchises other voters, and Jones ruled Wednesday that because the "none" option can never win, even if it gets the most votes, it ...

Is Mitt Romney Trying to Avoid Having to Admit to Massive Tax Fraud? By Anonymous Created 08/20/2012 - 22:58 by: Dave Lindorff A lot of theories have been put forward to try and explain why Romney has allowed his campaign to become bedeviled by charges of tax dodging, but what if what he is hiding is felonious tax fraud? Okay, so he's taken the legal option of delaying filing his 2011 taxes, which every taxpayer is entitled to do without penalty and without having to give any explanation until October 15 this year (I agree it's a ...

90 Million Americans Can’t Be Wrong

Those who vote in presidential elections often describe the action as being part of their civic duty; it’s something every good citizen must do. Others consider voting to be a right, and elections are something which every American should participate in. After all, they remind us, not everyone has this right in other countries. Still, there are others who see voting as both a duty and a right, as if it could be both at the same time. So when voter turnout was abysmally poor during last week’s primaries in Kansas and Missouri, many were upset. Talk radio hosts, Internet pundits, and members of the media all commented on the low participation rate, and quite a few were disturbed ...

The critical problem we face today is the same one all mankind has faced: the State, those monopolists who claim the right to break the laws that they make and enforce. How to restrain them is the critical problem of all sound political thinking. Making matters worse, this gang now has a monopoly on the money and the ability to print it, and they are abusing that power at our expense. How does voting change the situation? Neither of the candidates for president wants to do anything about the problem. On the contrary, they want to make it worse. This is for a reason. The State owns the “democratic process” as surely as it owns the Departments of Labor and Defense and uses it in ...
