Why I Would Never Vote for Michelle Bachmann - Devvy Kidd
Post Date: 2011-08-15 11:04:14 by christine

Michelle Bachmann [R - MN] is a current member of the Outlaw Congress. She's become the darling of the right - in particular, the Tea Party folks. Quite frankly, she scares me to death as a loose cannon who speaks of nothing but more Band Aids. I would love to debate her on the issues any day of the week - especially on taxation and our monetary system. On her web site, she says she understands, having been a tax attorney, how complicated the tax code is, blah, blah, blah. Bachmann, a former Democrat who worked to get Jimmy Carter elected, was a hired gun for the IRS as a DOJ attorney prosecuting Americans. She trumpets we need "simplification of the tax code". How The Two-Party Oligarchy Uses The Democrat Vs Republican Charade To Loot The Country – ‘The Greatest Increase In Poverty And Hardship Produced By Any Law In Modern US History’ – Non-Hyperbolic Edition

First a note on the use of hyperbole: People often think I’m using hyperbole when I talk about “financial terrorism,” our descent into “neo-feudalism,” the “two-Party oligarchy,” our confirmed “banana republic” status or the fact that President Obama is a “bankster puppet.” I’m aware that most people will think I’m being overly extreme, but in these extreme times, all these terms are technical descriptions of our unfortunate political reality. Career wise, I would be better off, over the short-term, if I censored this harsh reality and used more delicate language, but I’m not interested in making a career out of this, or ...

GOP Demands $55 Million Taxpayer Dollars For 2012 Convention Security July 15, 2011 By Jason Easley 172digg Share4768 44 Republicans have been telling us that America can’t afford Social Security, Medicare, or unemployment, but they want taxpayers to foot the bill for $55 million worth of security at the 2012 GOP convention. This is what the GOP’s fiscal conservatism really looks like. The video from My Fox Tampa Bay: Buckhorn pushes for funds for RNC security: MyFoxTAMPABAY.com Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn was in full give us money or the terrorists win mode, “We need to make sure that the nominee and the delegates are safe because God forbid there be an incident… ...

When Rahm's Temper Made a Comeback

When Rahm's Temper Made a Comeback In dealing with the press, Mayor Rahm Emanuel often tries to emulate his former boss, President Barack Obama. But Emanuel can’t match Obama’s calm demeanor. In fact Emanuel’s temper can get the best of him. I found out yesterday when I asked him a question about where his children would go to school, and he let his famous temper emerge. For some background, I had the chance to ask Barack Obama a similar question in 2008, just after he had won election and was transitioning to the White House. Since the president had sent his own children – Malia and Sasha -- to private schools in Chicago we wondered how he might relate to the ...

"... the Party hands out to you no prospect of reward.... We propose no bargain and we promise nothing. There is a passage in your journal which impressed me. You wrote: 'I have thought and acted as I had to. If I was right, I have nothing to repent of; if wrong, I shall pay.... You were wrong, and you will pay, Comrade Rubashov." Party interrogator Gletkin explains to loyalist Rubashov why the best interests of the Party require his liquidation, from Arthur Koestler's novel Darkness at Noon. "My least-favorite phrase in the English language," former Republican congressional candidate Brian Miller sighed with weary disgust, "is 'for the good of the ...

By Sandhya Somashekhar, Published: July 8 Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) is the first presidential candidate to sign a pledge written by a socially- conservative advocacy group in Iowa that, among other things, endorses the view that homosexuality is a choice rather than a biological trait. The pledge, titled “The Marriage Vow: A Declaration of Dependence Upon Marriage and Family,” originated with a group led by Bob Vander Plaats, an unsuccessful GOP gubernatorial candidate and evangelical Christian leader in Iowa. The group, the Family Leader, is asking all the 2012 presidential hopefuls to sign it. The pledge asks signatories to vow that they will be faithful to their ...

FACT CHECK: Bachmann Bomblets Raising Eyebrows Michele Bachmann's claim that she has "never gotten a penny" from a family farm that's been subsidized by the government is at odds with her financial disclosure statements. They show tens of thousands in personal income from the operation. And, on a less substantive note, she flubbed her hometown history when declaring "John Wayne was from Waterloo, Iowa," and "that's the kind of spirit that I have, too," in running for president. The actor was born nearly 150 miles away. It was the serial killer John Wayne Gacy Jr. who lived, for a time, in Waterloo. Those were among the latest examples of how the ...

APNewsBreak: Gingrich campaign finance team quits, $1 Million in debt! ATLANTA (AP) — Newt Gingrich’s top two fundraising advisers resigned on Tuesday, and officials said the Republican candidate’s hobbling presidential campaign carried more than $1 million in debt. The departures of fundraising director Jody Thomas and fundraising consultant Mary Heitman were the latest blow for the former House speaker who watched 16 top advisers abandon his campaign en masse earlier this month, partly because of what people familiar with the campaign spending described as a dire financial situation. These people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized ...

Obama rejects top lawyers' legal views on Libya

The growing controversy over President Obama's illegal waging of war in Libya got much bigger last night with Charlie Savage's New York Times scoop. He reveals that top administration lawyers -- Attorney General Eric Holder, OLC Chief Caroline Krass, and DoD General Counsel Jeh Johnson -- all told Obama that his latest, widely panned excuse for waging war without Congressional approval (that it does not rise to the level of "hostilities" under the War Powers Resolution (WPR)) was invalid and that such authorization was legally required after 60 days: itself a generous intepretation of the President's war powers. But Obama rejected those views and (with the support of ...

Would you pay $10k for a photo with the First Lady? Michelle Obama flies to LA to raise money for husband's re-election By Fiona Roberts Last updated at 11:22 PM on 13th June 2011 If Barack Obama's worried about finding enough cash for his 2012 election campaign, he needn't be - his wife's got it covered. The First Lady charged lucky - and wealthy - bidders a whopping $10,000 to have their photograph taken with her at a fundraising luncheon today in Los Angeles. With 500 attendees, it means Michelle Obama could have netted up to $5million just for smiling at the camera, on top of the $1,000 each person paid per plate. She's not the only Obama in search of campaign ...

Humala Wins Peru's Presidential Runoff - by Stephen Lendman On April 10, Ollanta Humala received most support among five presidential candidates, but not a majority. Eliminated were former neoliberal President Alejandro Toledo, his former economic minister and Lima mayor Luis Castaneda Lossio, and former Prime Minister Pedro Pablo Kuczynski. Discredited and now imprisoned former President Alberto Fujimori's daughter Keiko proceeded to a runoff with him. On June 6, New York Times writer Simon Romero headlined, "Ex-Officer Set to Win Narrow Victory in Peru," saying: Incomplete returns show him heading for victory, rebuking Peru's "economic model that has driven ...

Former Presidential Candidate John Edwards Indicted by Federal Grand Jury A federal grand jury indicted two-time presidential candidate John Edwards Friday over allegations that he spent $925,000 in campaign donations to cover up his extramarital affair as he was running for the White House in 2008. The case of USA v. Johnny Reid Edwards contains six counts, including conspiracy, four counts of illegal campaign contributions and one count of false statements. Edwards will be arraigned later Friday. The indictment said the payments were a scheme to protect Edwards' White House ambitions. "A centerpiece of Edwards' candidacy was his public image as a devoted family man," ...

n a move that should be getting more notice this week, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) has thrown down the gauntlet over the renewal of the Patriot Act, provisions of which would expire Friday if not extended. Paul has offered several "controversial" amendments to the bill, and could single-handedly cause the Patriot Act to lapse for a day, The Hill reported today. What are these so-called "controversial" changes to the post-9/11 act -- which expanded governmental search powers -- that Paul wants? "Controversial" things like requiring the government seek a judge's approval before conducting a search of someone's credit cards, emails, library books, bank ...

Riding what they say is strong opposition to a Republican plan to change Medicare, Democrats won back a seat in the U.S. House on Tuesday, taking a historically GOP district just seven months after being blown out in that same race in last November's elections. The victory went to Democrat Kathy Hochul, who will take the seat once occupied by ex-Rep. Chris Lee (R-NY), who resigned after his shirtless photos showed up on Craigslist, where he was trolling for dates with women who weren't his wife. The Republican in the race, Jane Corwin, was battered by Democratic attacks after she embraced a House Republican budget plan that included major reforms in Medicare. Hochul ran up big ...

The Case for IMF Chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn Being Set-Up

Although it is very possible that IMF Chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn is a mad dog and sexually attacked a maid at the Sofitel Hotel in New York City without warning, there remains the possibility that the story is more complex and that he was set-up by those who understood his weakness for women. There are facts that could perhaps resolve the question of whether a set-up occurred or not. Herein lies the curiosities of the case that suggest much more than a simple attack was going on and the facts that need to be answered that could eliminate the possibility of a se-tup or indeed make the case of a set-up stronger. First, it is somewhat interesting that the alleged attack was reported to the ...

Democracy, Haitian Style - by Stephen Lendman Except for Aristide's tenure, what passes for Haitian democracy would make a despot blush, thanks to America's imperial grip on the hemisphere's poorest, long-suffering people. As a result, last November's presidential and legislative elections might best be called a cruel joke. The entire process was rigged to exclude 15 parties, including by far the most popular, Aristide's Fanmi Lavalas. Moreover, the election was so tainted by brazen disenfranchisement and fraud, including ballot box stuffing and other irregularities, that legitimate independent observers would have demanded throwing out the results and starting over. ...

WASHINGTON – Sarah Palin's support among Republicans has shrunk and there's no evidence she's close to saying whether she will run for president in 2012. But it's clear she wants to be part of the conversation. After seemingly staying on the sidelines this spring, the GOP's 2008 vice presidential nominee is back with public appearances, fiery criticism of President Barack Obama and a strong defense of Donald Trump, the reality TV show host who has raised questions about the president's background without offering any proof of his assertions. "What the heck is wrong with asking the president of the United States to disclose what his college thesis was, ...
