Palinism's defeat in the 2010 elections

Palinism's defeat in the 2010 elections For all the Republican huzzahs this post-election morning, one of the interesting results of Tuesday's balloting is that it showed the natural limits of the politics associated with Sarah Palin and the Tea Party. Palin is such a vocal self-promoter that it's easy to overlook how many of her pet GOP candidates lost. The most notable failures, based on current vote totals, were the Senate candidates: Sharon Angle in Nevada, Christine O'Donnell in Delaware and (apparently) Joe Miller in Alaska. That Palin couldn't even swing her home state of Alaska suggests that she is not as potent as her media hype. The Tea Party's influence ...

ACORN’s Troubled Past Leads to Stunning Election Day Announcement by Eric Shawn | November 02, 2010 On this election night, there is a stunning turn from ACORN. It has filed for bankruptcy. In an announcement on its website, Bertha Lewis, the CEO of the troubled activist group, says that ACORN has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, the reason stemming from the legal troubles surrounding numerous voter registration investigations across the country. The scandals led Congress to vote to cut off federal funding, and the group also lost some government support. "The ongoing political onslaught caused irreparable harm," wrote Lewis, who blames "a right-wing media ...

Dear Patriot: The polls are now open. Folks from all around Kentucky are going out to decide many things today. One of those is who will be their next United States Senator. Should the people of Kentucky honor me with their vote tonight, I can tell you this -- they will be sending a message to Washington. Help make sure that message is heard loud and clear. No matter what the weather where you are, no matter how many other things you have to do today -- please go vote. It matters. Every election has some importance, but if you look all around you at what is going on in our country, this one matters more than most in my memory. Our country is at a crossroads, and new leadership is ...

Justin Amash for Congress: Endorsed by Ron Paul
Post Date: 2010-11-01 11:28:26 by christine

About Justin Republican Justin Amash is the leading advocate for government restraint in the Michigan House of Representatives. His positions on a range of important issues reflect his principled, consistent commitment to limited government, free markets, and individual liberty: Justin has fought to stop targeted tax breaks and subsidies to government-favored companies and industries. He believes that taxing people only to redistribute their money to politically well-connected groups is morally wrong, unconstitutional, and economically unsound. Justin opposes bailouts for failing companies and industries. Bailouts only prolong and redistribute the burden of existing problems, while ...

A Favorite Villain in Election Ads: New York Ominous shadows on the Statue of Liberty in a campaign ad for Marco Rubio, the Republican candidate for Senate in Florida. By DAVID W. CHEN Published: October 21, 2010 A Georgia congressman is shown driving around New York in a convertible with the House speaker, Nancy Pelosi, soaking in cheers at a ticker-tape parade on Wall Street and then basking in the bright lights of Times Square. A Kentucky Republican candidate for Senate is attacked for holding a fund-raiser in New York, as images of a limousine and the Chrysler Building appear on the screen. A Republican candidate for attorney general in Michigan is depicted wearing a “I ...

Guns! Prostitution! MURDER! This New Ron Klein Spot Is the Scariest Ad Of the Year A political race has obviously gone off the deep end when its attack ads are easily confused with promos for "Sons of Anarchy." In fairness to Rep. Ron Klein, the Broward Dem in serious trouble of losing his seat to Tea Party fave Allen West, his race went Four Loko long before this latest gem debuted. West got caught courting the Outlaws -- a biker gang linked to meth running -- and writing for a local biker mag that, how shall we put this delicately, "loves the titties." But holy Gingrich does this one lay the facts on thick. Click through! The spot starts with a rumbling Harley motor ...

The polls and pundits are all in alignment now. The Republican Party is headed for a victory Tuesday to rival the biggest and best of those that the party has known in the lifetime of most Americans. In 1938, the GOP won 72 seats in the House. In 1946, Republicans swept both houses and presented Harry Truman with a "fighting 80th Congress" that contained three future presidents: John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson and Richard Nixon. In 1966, Republicans picked up 47 House seats to set up the comeback of Nixon, who had led the party out of the wilderness of Goldwater's defeat. In 1994, the Republican Revolution added 52 House seats and captured both chambers for the first time ...

Candidate Files Criminal Complaint Over Firm Handshake Broward School Board candidate claims abuse from opponent via handshake By TODD WRIGHT A firm handshake is usually seen as a good thing in business and even in politics. Not so much in South Florida. A candidate for the Broward County School Board wants the cops to lock up her opponent after what she claims was akin to battery after a recent debate. Jaemi Levine filed a complaint with the Broward Sheriff's Office claiming David Thomas squeezed her hand so hard during a post-debate handshake Tuesday that it now hurts. Instead of getting a grip on education issues, Thomas decided to get a grip on his opponent for the Disctrict 4 ...

12 Polls That Prove That The American People Are Really, Really Pissed Off As Election Day 2010 Approaches

The American people are mad. No, check that, they are steaming mad. In the weeks leading up to the election, poll after poll after poll has shown that the American people are angrier at government than at any other point in modern U.S. history. American voters have been angry before, but this time it is different. Instead of being mad at just one political party, the American people are now clearly disgusted with both political parties. Neither major party has a positive approval rating. People are sick and tired of the economy being in the tank, they are sick and tired of not being able to get good jobs and they are sick and tired of the nonsense that has been going on in Washington. Both ...

Open letter to Americans: U.S. Mid-term Elections - "If You Don’t Know What’s Going On, Don’t Vote" By Arnold Ahlert October 28, 2010 Dear Fellow Americans: Actually, not all of my fellow Americans. This letter is directed at a particular subset of Americans who manage to weave their way through life without the slightest concern or knowledge about the critical issues facing the country today. For you, “news gathering” consists of watching John Stewart’s “The Daily Show,” even as you remain undeterred by the fact that the network which broadcasts it is called Comedy Central. Some of you are the kind of people who voted for Barack Obama ...

Nevada Republican Sharron Angle's new TV ad is racist, the head of Senate Democrats' campaign efforts charged. Sen. Robert Menendez (N.J.), the chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC), lambasted Angle's new ad, "The Wave," which targets Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on illegal immigration. "I do," said Menendez, a Cuban-American, when asked if he thought Angle's new ad was racist. The new TV spot talks about an influx of illegal immigrants into Nevada, depicting Latinos, who are presumed to be illegal immigrants in the ad, as dangerous. Angle's campaign hits Reid for supporting benefits for immigrants here ...

Forget the corporate media dust-up over a Rand Paul supporter attacking a MoveOn.org activist. That incident pales in comparison to a story about the brother of Paul’s opponent in the race for Kentucky’s Senate seat, Jack Conway. On Saturday, the Louisville Courier-Journal published a story about Conway’s brother, Matthew, who resigned from the Jefferson County, Kentucky, attorney’s office to enter private practice after he was tipped off by Louisville narcotics detectives twice in the past two years that he was under investigation for possible drug use or trafficking. Matthew C. Conway was an assistant commonwealth’s attorney, a position he still holds, when ...

Nevada Voters Say Reid's Name Checked for Them on Touch-Screen Ballots Published October 26, 2010 | FoxNews.com Voters in one Nevada city are complaining that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's name was already checked when they went to cast their ballots in early voting Monday, according to Fox5Vegas.com. Voters in Boulder City said they were trying to vote for Republican nominee Sharron Angle, but that Reid's name was checked when they got to the electronic voting machines. "Something's not right," voter Joyce Ferrara told the network, saying several people reported the same problem. "One person that's a fluke. Two, that's strange. But several ...

Christine Smith Sun Journal Staff A Craven County voter says he had a near miss at the polls on Thursday when an electronic voting machine completed his straight-party ticket for the opposite of what he intended. Sam Laughinghouse of New Bern said he pushed the button to vote Republican in all races, but the voting machine screen displayed a ballot with all Democrats checked. He cleared the screen and tried again with the same result, he said. Then he asked for and received help from election staff. “They pushed it twice and the same thing ...
