"Joe the Plumber," the Toledo, Ohio, man whose complaints about Barack Obama's tax plan were featured in the final presidential debate, owes the state of Ohio almost $1,200 in back income taxes. According to records on file with the Lucas County Court of Common Pleas, the state filed a tax lien against Samuel J. Wurzelbacher for $1,182.98 on Jan. 26, 2007, that is still active. Wurzelbacher was thrust into the national spotlight this week when he told Obama he worried that the Illinois senator's proposals to roll back Bush administration tax breaks for Americans earning more than $250,000 would prevent him from buying a plumbing business that would earn between $250,000 ...

Obama to Declare Carbon Dioxide Dangerous Pollutant If Elected By Jim Efstathiou Jr. Oct. 16 (Bloomberg) -- Barack Obama will classify carbon dioxide as a dangerous pollutant that can be regulated should he win the presidential election on Nov. 4, opening the way for new rules on greenhouse gas emissions. The Democratic senator from Illinois will tell the Environmental Protection Agency that it may use the 1990 Clean Air Act to set emissions limits on power plants and manufacturers, his energy adviser, Jason Grumet, said in an interview. President George W. Bush declined to curb CO2 emissions under the law even after the Supreme Court ruled in 2007 that the government may do so. If ...

She was employed by Community Voters Project, which has been involved in questionable voter-registration applications in other states. It's the second round of voter fraud charges in Hampton Roads this election season. In July, three people, also hired by Community Voters Project, were charged in Hampton. Other questionable registrations are under review in Virginia Beach, Portsmouth ...

Trump: Bush impeachment would be 'wonderful thing'

(AFP) - Property mogul and diehard Republican Donald Trump told CNN on Wednesday that President George W. Bush misled the US into the Iraq War and should have been impeached when the Democrats took control of Congress in 2006. "I was surprised that she didn't do more in terms of Bush and going after Bush," Trump said in an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer, referring to Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. "It ... just seemed like she was going to really look to impeach Bush and get him out of office, which personally I think would have been a wonderful thing." Trump, 62, said Bush misled the United States into waging war on Iraq, a much worse offense than a ...

War Hero or War Criminal?

As character assassination attacks on Sen. Barack Obama have now taken over Sen. John McCain's campaign, and because McCain cites his military experience as of prime importance, now is the time to focus closer attention on a facet of the Arizona Senator's own character. This is related to his 23 combat missions for Operation Rolling Thunder - the Pentagon's name for U.S. bombing of North Vietnam. I will never forget how stunned I was when Gen. Telford Taylor, a chief U.S. prosecutor at the Nuremberg trials after World War Two, told me that he strongly supported the idea of trying the U.S. pilots captured in North Vietnam as war criminals - and that he would be proud to lead ...

Delay of Game: MLB Will Move a Game 6 for Obama

WASHINGTON (AdAge.com) -- Major League Baseball has moved back the scheduled start time of any game 6 of the World Series so Fox can also air the half hour Barack Obama spot on Oct. 29. A network spokeswoman confirmed the buy and said MLB had agreed to the network's request for the delay. Fox now joins CBS and NBC in airing the half hour program, whose content the Obama campaign has declined to describe. The decision means that the Obama campaign is now spending close to $3 million to air the program from 8 to 8:30 p.m. that night on at least three networks. ABC didn't immediately return a message asking whether it too has now agreed to a buy, a move which would create an ...

CINCINNATI (AP) - Close to one in every three newly registered Ohio voters will end up on court-ordered lists being sent to county election boards because they have some discrepancy in their records, an elections spokesman said Wednesday. Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner estimated that an initial review found that about 200,000 newly registered voters reported information that did not match motor-vehicle or Social Security records, Brunner spokesman Kevin Kidder said. Some discrepancies could be as simple as a misspelling, while others could be more significant. The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati sided with the Ohio Republican Party on Tuesday and ordered Brunner to ...

Murtha: Western Pa. 'racist'

WASHINGTON - Democratic Rep. John Murtha said Wednesday his home base of western Pennsylvania is racist and that could reduce Barack Obama's victory margin in the state by 4 percentage points. ADVERTISEMENT The 17-term Democratic congressman told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in a story posted Wednesday on its Web site: "There is no question that western Pennsylvania is a racist area." Murtha said it has taken time for many Pennsylvania voters to come around to embracing a black presidential candidate, but that Obama should still win the state, though not in a runaway. In a separate interview posted Wednesday on the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review's Web site, Murtha said Obama ...

White Guilt, Obamania, And The Reality Of Race

Race is so important in American politics that it has even propelled a Chicago politician less than two years removed from the corruption-plagued Illinois state senate into the limelight of the upcoming Presidential race. Yet we still aren't supposed to engage in honest public discussion about it. VDARE.COM is not in the business of endorsing candidates. So let me note that Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) strikes me as no less (and no more) credible a candidate for President than the rest of the usual suspects. Still, VDARE.COM can play a useful educational role by mentioning some of the unmentionable reasons behind Obamania. Obama is constantly compared to Tiger Woods. But he differs ...

Wed Oct 15, 9:29 AM ET John McCain is at odds with many of his top advisers over launching a renewed attack on Barack Obama's ties to his long-time pastor and mentor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, according to campaign sources. ADVERTISEMENT Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and several top campaign officials see a sharp attack on Wright as the best — and perhaps last — chance to rattle Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill. ) and force voters to rethink their support of him. But McCain continues to overrule them, fearing a Wright attack would smack of desperation and racism, the officials said. With McCain unlikely to budge, GOP officials are hoping groups outside of the campaign will finance an ad ...

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner on Tuesday downplayed claims that Ohio was open to widespread voter fraud, saying the state has proper protection in place to catch duplicate or improper voter registrations. According to Franklin County elections officials, two suspected cases of voting fraud have been uncovered, and both cases have been forwarded to the county prosecutor's office, 10TV's Glenn McEntyre reported. Still, as early voting continued, there were concerns about fraudulent registrations across the state. In Cleveland on Tuesday, officials heard from witnesses regarding the community activist group, ACORN. At least one person claimed that the ...

Obama’s team shows shades of Rove (Winning by bringing out the Democratic base)

Ann Arbor, Mich. – There are probably very few Democrats who would ever admit to being fans of Karl Rove, the political strategist who successfully led George W. Bush through two presidential elections. But Sen. Barack Obama’s team seems to have studied the campaign efforts of Mr. Bush’s former adviser and is putting the lessons learned to work. For proof, simply take a look at the corner of Liberty and First Streets here in Ann Arbor. There sits an Obama “Campaign for Change” office in all its Rove-ian glory. What does an office in this extremely left-leaning college town – as well as those in other “Campus and Careers” communities – have to ...

Sacramento County Republican leaders Tuesday took down offensive material on their official party Web site that sought to link Sen. Barack Obama to Osama bin Laden and encouraged people to "Waterboard Barack Obama" – material that offended even state GOP leaders. Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who has pushed the party to try to broaden its appeal, took issue with the site. "In the governor's view, it's completely and totally inappropriate," said Julie Soderlund, a Schwarzenegger spokeswoman. Hector Barajas, a California Republican Party spokesman, said Democrats have been playing the race card, but that the local party went too far in this instance. Taking ...

Voters' Guide None of the Above Doug Casey Choosing among those who seek the presidency is not necessarily an easy task for the intelligent libertarian. Liberty's editors do their best to help. Once again we find ourselves in the midst of the quadrennial American circus, when shameless powermongers come out to blather moronic and vacuous platitudes in hopes of getting Boobus Americanus to “get out and vote,” granting them the power of life and death for the next four years. Regrettably, they won’t be disappointed. But one can hope they will be. I think back to the ’60s, when the wistful saying “Suppose they gave a war, and nobody came” was current. ...

Barack Obama has not produced a valid U.S. birth certificate. In fact, the Obama campaign posted a copy of Obama's birth certificate on its "Fight the Smears" website, and reportedly provided the original document to FactCheck.org, whose staff concluded that it "meets all of the requirements from the State Department for proving U.S. citizenship." Rehashing a long-debunked claim, conservative radio hosts Michael Savage, Rick ...

Sen. Clinton says 2nd White House run is unlikely WASHINGTON - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton puts the chances of her running for president again at near zero — slightly higher than the chances she gives for becoming Senate majority leader or a Supreme Court justice. In an interview aired Tuesday on "Fox & Friends" on the Fox News Channel, Clinton, D-N.Y., was asked the chances, on a scale of 1 to 10, that she would be the next majority leader in the Senate. "Oh, probably zero," she said. "I'm not seeking any other position than to be the best senator from New York that I can be." Being nominated to the Supreme Court? "Zero," Clinton ...
