'Bush responsible for Iraqi deaths'

Bush must be held accountable for the deaths of thousands of Iraqi civilians and US soldiers in Iraq, a Vermont attorney general candidate says. Charlotte Dennett said she will prosecute the US President George W. Bush for murder if she's elected Nov. 4. Dennett, an attorney and journalist, believes the Vermont attorney general would have jurisdiction to do such an act. "Someone has to step forward," she said at a news conference. "Someone has to say we cannot put up with this lack of accountability any more," AP quoted Dennett as saying. She also said she would appoint a special prosecutor and already knows who that should be: former Los Angeles prosecutor ...

Jeannette Rankin (1880-1973) was the first woman ever elected to the U.S. Congress, and a native of Missoula, Montana. She was elected in 1916, before women nationwide had the right to vote. In 1917 she joined a handful of representatives who voted against entry into World War I asserting, despite harsh criticism and certain damage to her career, that "the first time the first woman had a chance to say no against war she should say it." In 1941 she bravely stood alone in Congress in voting against entry into World War II, but she did not stand alone in society in her opposition to institutional violence and war. Her stand against war as a viable resolution to international ...

Obama's Fannie Mae 'Connection'

Obama's Fannie Mae 'Connection' "Obama has no background in economics. Who advises him? The Post says it's Franklin Raines, for "advice on mortgage and housing policy." Shocking. Under Raines, Fannie Mae committed "extensive financial fraud." Raines made millions. Fannie Mae collapsed. Taxpayers? Stuck with the bill." --McCain video release, September 18, 2008. An already nasty presidential election campaign is getting nastier. The meltdown on Wall Street has touched off frantic attempts by both the McCain and Obama camps to secure political advantage and indulge in guilt by association. Over the last 24 hours, both campaigns have issued video ...

John McCain singles out a fellow Republican for blame in Wall Street meltdown

Faced with a complex, bewildering and downright scary crisis -- i.e., the turmoil now afflicting Wall Street -- politicians often find it convenient to identify a specific villain whom they can thrash for effect. For Democrats, that target almost always is President Bush (it goes with the turf; the buck does stop in his office). But even for self-proclaimed maverick John McCain, it would be impolitic -- as the Republican presidential nominee -- to call out the Republican currently residing in the White House. So McCain, speaking today in Iowa, singled out a different federal official: the chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission. His critique was harsh: "In my view," ...

GOP seeks ban on political clothing at polling places

HARRISBURG - If top state Republicans get their way, you can forget about wearing that Obama T-shirt when you step up to cast your vote Nov. 4. Palin pins will be off limits, too. It's called "passive electioneering" and GOP officials today called on the Rendell administration to enforce a little-known, decades-old law they say bans such things. "We strongly believe Pennsylvanians should be able to look to the polling place as a safe harbor, free of any type of electioneering, without any outside influences," Robert Gleason, chairman of the state Republican Party, said at a Capitol news conference. In past years, some local election officials across Pennsylvania ...

Poster Comment:All 20 claims made in this video were fact checked at this blog: http://blog1.thejtandbearshow.com/2008/09/16/video--mr-obama-who-are-you.aspx I do disagree with the video's last 30 seconds. I want McCain to fall down a well. Sarah Palin is the most qualified person to run for President in a generation. Her qualification is that she has no ties to the Criminal Syndicate known as Wall Street that has been running this country for all of my lifetime. My elderly aunt on social security is better qualified to represent the people of the US than Obama and McCain. The first question I ask a candidate is this: who are your financial backers?

By Bill SammonKansas Gov. All the code language, all that doesn57;t show up in the polls. And that may be a factor for some people.61;Sebelius appeared to be alluding to the 60;Bradley effect,61; a political phenomenon in which African-American candidates fare better in opinion polls than in ...

The Dems Are Going the Way of the Whig Party

“The Dems...are weaklings who blow where the wind takes them while frittering away our...lifeblood.” - Cindy Sheehan It’s painful for me to watch the Dems, the political party of my youth, self-destruct. I’m sure this is how members of the Whig Party must have felt as they witnessed their organization fade from the national scene. The Whigs were the heirs of the Federalist Party, originally led by George Washington. A split over the issue of Slavery, however, just before the Civil War, marked the death knell of that once influential entity. The Dems, on the other hand, are going down because they no longer stand for anything. They are morphing into a Duopoly--the ...

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a prominent Hillary Clinton supporter and member of the Democratic National Committee’s Platform Committee, will endorse John McCain for president on Wednesday, her spokesman tells CNN. The announcement will take place at a news conference on Capitol Hill, just blocks away from the DNC headquarters. Forester will “campaign and help him through the election,” the spokesman said of her plans to help the Republican presidential nominee. Forester was a major donor for Clinton earning her the title as a Hillraiser for helping to raise at least $100,000 for the New York Democratic senator’s failed presidential bid. In an ...

"Folks, I've never been a fan giving answers," a satirical Stephen Colbert opened. "And you want to know why? ...Too bad." The Bush administration, he said, has "avoided giving answers to the American people by claiming executive privilege, ignoring subpoenas, feigning ignorance, and mesmerizing critics with the power of dance. But now there is so much talk of change in the air these days that my fear is that the next administration will have to give answers. Luckily, John McCain and Sarah Palin are bringing the best possible kind of change. They're not only saying they won't give answers -- they're saying you can't ask questions." ...

Obama Has A Rabbi In The Family

CHICAGO (AP) 53; Here's something about Barack Obama you probably didn't know: He's related to a rabbi. His wife's cousin, Rabbi Capers C. Funnye Jr., leads a mostly black Jewish congregation on Chicago's Southwest Side. He is Michelle Obama's first cousin once removed: Her paternal grandfather is the brother of Funnye's mother. While Obama has struggled to win over Jewish voters, vigorously defending his support of Israel in Florida and other states with large Jewish populations, he hasn't mentioned Funnye on the campaign trail. Funnye (pronounced fuh-NAY) says he hasn't been involved in the campaign, except to donate money. But he speaks glowingly ...

On the night Barack Obama accepted the nomination for president from the Democratic Party, though I have a strict aversion to television news in general, I sat in my parents' living room absorbing the overwhelming emotion, excitement and patriotism of the convention. My father flipped from station to station, taking in as much political commentary as possible. My son danced along to Stevie Wonder's "Signed, Sealed, Delivered." My mother shushed me when I dared speak over Al Gore. It was a truly American scene. I could not help but cringe, however, each time a news anchor welcomed the audience back to the program, informing us once again what we would soon witness: Obama ...

BOSTON (WBZ) 53; Sen. John Kerry fended off his first Democratic challenger in nearly a quarter century, handily defeating political newcomer Ed O'Reilly in Tuesday's primary election. O'Reilly had tried to make Kerry's 2003 vote authorizing President Bush to launch military action against Iraq a central issue of the Democratic contest, suggesting the vote was a political calculation by Kerry to keep his presidential prospects viable. But Kerry, the Democratic Party's presidential nominee just four years ago, defended the vote, saying he met with top Pentagon officials, the National Security Council and former Secretary of State Colin Powell before voting. He said his ...

The pastor whose prayer Sarah Palin says helped her to become governor of Alaska founded his ministry with a witchhunt against a Kenyan woman who he accused of causing car accidents through demonic spells. At a speech at the Wasilla Assembly of God on June 8 this year, Mrs Palin described how Thomas Muthee had laid his hands on her when he visited the church as a guest preacher in late 2005, prior to her successful gubernatorial bid. In video footage of the speech, she is seen saying: “As I was mayor and Pastor Muthee was here and he was praying over me, and you know how he speaks and he’s so bold. And he was praying “Lord make a way, Lord make a way.” “And ...

(CNN) -- Sen. John McCain's senior domestic policy adviser said Tuesday that the BlackBerry mobile e-mail device was a "miracle that John McCain helped create." Sen. John McCain "laughed" when he heard his adviser's remark about the BlackBerry, another aide says. The adviser, Douglas Holtz-Eakin, discussing the nation's economic woes with reporters, said that McCain -- who has struggled to stress his economic credentials -- did have experience dealing with the economy, pointing to his time on the Senate Commerce Committee. Pressed to provide an example of what McCain had accomplished on that committee, Holtz-Eakin said the senator did not have ...

16/09/08 "ICH" -- - Just as I expected, these political campaigns of both Barack Obama and John McCain are totally mindless and mind-numbing. This is unfortunate because our republic is probably teetering on the brink of extinction due to the self-serving, Empire fostering policies of the currant administration. Americans are experiencing a palatable anger toward the two- party duopoly that has followed its corporate leadership into wars for resources and the complete disregard for the Constitution. It is apparent that the Democratic Party and the Republican Party have no regard for the intelligence of their constituents. Since this Presidential race began, we have been ...
