LEXINGTON, Ky. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, facing a likely defeat in next Tuesday's primary election, won't travel to Kentucky before the voting, but said he hopes to have much more time to win over Kentucky voters before the November general election. He also blamed Fox News for disseminating "rumors" about him and said that that and e-mails filled with misinformation that have been "systematically" dispersed have hurt him in Kentucky. "When we're able to campaign in a place like Iowa for several months and I can visit and talk to people individually, I do very well. That's harder to do at this stage in the ...

Poster Comment:This is a clip from a Detroit TV station news report in which the reporter tries to get an answer from Barack Obama about his plan to help struggling autoworkers. Not only does Obama duck the question, but he calls the reporter "sweetie." He later called her office and apologized for both. No politician can protect American jobs and wages. The country is Overpopulated. Wages are artifially high because we export paper dollars and and import oil, food and finished products ranging from cars and electronix to everything at WalMart. Obama and McCain will both make things much worse than they are now because they support Amnesty for Illegal Aliens. When we have 350,00 ...
Huckabee quips about gun aimed at Obama Post Date: 2008-05-16 17:17:27 by RickyJ

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Republican Mike Huckabee responded to an offstage noise during his speech to the National Rifle Association by suggesting it was Barack Obama diving to the floor because someone had aimed a gun at him. Hearing a loud noise and interrupting his speech, Huckabee said: "That was Barack Obama. He just tripped off a chair. He's getting ready to speak and somebody aimed a gun at him and hehe dove for the floor." There were only a few murmurs in the crowd after the remark. The Obama campaign had no comment. Huckabee, who sought the GOP presidential nomination, won the leadoff Iowa caucuses and seven other states. But he dropped out after Sen. John ...

I realize that is extremely difficult for some people to think outside the box. The vast majority of people are prone to be followers, to "go with the flow," to follow the path of least resistance. This appears to be the nature of human nature. Therefore, I think I understand the reasoning of many who are so reluctant to step outside the two major parties and vote for a third party candidate. I seem to recall that I, too, was just as hesitant (though not for nearly as long as some people) as they are. We have all heard it before: He doesn't stand a chance; it's a wasted vote; we must work within the party to make it better, etc., ad infinitum, ad nauseam. Now, I will be ...
Barr Sinister? - Could Bob Barr become this year's Ralph Nader, helping to "spoil" the White House ambitions of John McCain. Post Date: 2008-05-16 08:46:38 by Jethro Tull

Political Diary May 15, 2008 Barr Sinister? Could Bob Barr become this year's Ralph Nader, helping to "spoil" the White House ambitions of John McCain. The former Georgia Republican congressman announced he was seeking the Libertarian nomination for president this week, and immediately disputed that he is spoiling things for anyone. "The American voters deserve better than simply the lesser of two evils," he said as he outlined his platform to freeze discretionary spending and withdraw from Iraq. Mr. Barr first has to win the nomination of the fractious Libertarians in Denver later this month. He faces opposition from 13 candidates, including former ...

The Lessons of West Virginia Post Date: 2008-05-16 05:04:57 by mirage

I suppose it is fitting that the news media and the super delegates are ignoring the significance of a thrashing of monumental proportions. After all, this campaign is being brought by to us by a media that gives new life to a traditional proverb satirist Jonathan Swift's once cited that there are none so blind as those who will not see. Swift may have been a product of the Enlightenment, but he anticipated the relationship that much of the modern media political narrative has to the concepts of reason and truth. What I saw Tuesday that caused my eyes to go wide was Fox flashing exit polling results showing that while 63% of West Virginia Democrat primary voters found Hillary Clinton ...
Women Threaten Obama Boycott Post Date: 2008-05-15 19:45:47 by RickyJ

I've posted a few times in the last two days about female supporters of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton who are angry -- at the Democratic Party, at the Obama campaign, or at the general situation that sees their candidate facing tough times, in their view, in part because of sexism. Just talked to a 55-year-old Columbus, Ohio resident named Cynthia Ruccia, a spokesperson and organizer for a group calling itself "Clinton Supporters Count Too." She said the group -- numbering in the hundreds, and organized in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Michigan -- stands ready to boycott the Democratic Party if Clinton doesn't win the nomination, and will work against superdelegates who ...
The Audacity of Questioning Obama's Commitment to Israel Post Date: 2008-05-15 16:51:12 by PoliticallyIncorrect

Recently, American Thinker has published two articles exploring the issue of how firm the support might be for the American-Israel relationship in a Barack Obama Administration. The analysis delved into Obama's past and his very strong bond with Pastor Jeremiah Wright, Jr., his early and strong support from George Soros, and particularly, his foreign policy team. The articles have provoked a fierce response from certain Obama supporters. Prominent Democrats have expressed qualms regarding his foreign policy choices -- including Martin Peretz and Alan Dershowitz (who called for Zbigniew Brzezinski, an ardent critic of Israel and the putative Israel lobby, to be replaced). These American ...

Many years ago, a great hitter named Paul Waner was nearing the end of his long career. He entered a ballgame with 2,999 hits one hit away from the 3,000-hit landmark which so many hitters want to reach, but which relatively few actually do reach. Waner hit a ball that the fielder did not handle cleanly but the official scorer called it a hit, making it Waners 3,000th. Paul Waner then sent word to the official scorer that he did not want that questionable hit to be the one that put him over the top. The official scorer reversed himself and called it an error. Later Paul Waner got a clean hit for number 3,000. What reminded me of this is the great fervor that many seem ...

Black, Republican and voting for Obama A conversation made her mind up By YVONNE R. DAVIS Hartford Courant I am a black Republican. I have a confession to make. I am an Obama "girl." Most black Republicans who support John McCain won't tell you this but if Barack Obama is the nominee for the Democratic ticket, they will go into the voting booth in November and vote for Obama. In 2005, when I was in Chicago on business, I attended NFL Hall of Famer Richard Dent's annual foundation fundraiser. My business associate, also a Republican and former executive director of the Massachusetts Republican Party, said he wanted me to meet a friend of his who was going ...

What does Democratic presidential front-runner Illinois Senator Barack Obama, Reverend Jeremiah Wright, a man named Larry Sinclair and Trinity United Church of Christs murdered homosexual choir director have in common? According Mr. Sinclair, maybe quite a bit. According to Sinclair, he has given new evidence to Chicago police linking Obama to the murder. Sinclairs story has appeared in Globe Magazine (view page one and page two) recently, but Sinclair claims it is being ignored by the MSM because they have made it clear for some time they want Barack Obama in the White House and their consistent biased coverage proves this to be the case beyond any ...

McCain outlines vision of Iraq victory, reduced partisanship Post Date: 2008-05-15 09:48:45 by christine

COLUMBUS, Ohio - John McCain, looking through a crystal ball to 2013 and the end of a prospective first term, sees "spasmodic" but reduced violence in Iraq and Afghanistan, Osama bin Laden dead or captured and government spending curbed by his ready veto pen. The Republican presidential contender also envisions April's annual angst replaced by a simpler flat tax, illegal immigrants living humanely under a temporary worker program, and political partisanship stemmed by weekly news conferences and British-style question periods with joint meetings of Congress. In a speech being delivered Thursday, McCain concedes he cannot make the changes alone, but he wants to outline a ...

How Healthy Is John McCain? Wednesday, May. 14, 2008 By MICHAEL SCHERER AND ALICE PARK It was the size of a dime and as thick as a nickela discolored blotch on John McCain's left temple. He didn't pay it much mind during the heat of the 2000 Republican primary campaign. But after losing the nomination to George W. Bush, the Arizona Senator found himself with time to spare. So as Bush celebrated victory, McCain headed to the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., to have the spot checked out. Less than three weeks later, McCain endured 5½ hours of surgery to remove a patch of skin including the blemish, roughly 5 cm (2 in.) wide. The diagnosis: Stage 2A ...

Major donors concluding that Obama wants to cut off funds to outside groups, especially media 527s. Senator Barack Obamas campaign is steering the candidates wealthy supporters away from independent Democratic groups, calling into question what had been expected to be the groups central role in this years Democratic offensive against Senator John McCain. Obama More Pro-Choice Than NARAL Post Date: 2008-05-14 19:51:15 by christine

Sen. Barack Obama (D.-Ill.) portrays himself as a thoughtful Democrat who carefully considers both sides of controversial issues, but his radical stance on abortion puts him further left on that issue than even NARAL Pro-Choice America. In 2002, as an Illinois legislator, Obama voted against the Induced Infant Liability Act, which would have protected babies that survived late-term abortions. That same year a similar federal law, the Born Alive Infant Protection Act, was signed by President Bush. Only 15 members of the U.S. House opposed it, and it passed the Senate unanimously on a voice vote. Both the Illinois and the federal bill sought equal treatment for babies who survived premature ...

NEW YORK - Democrat Barack Obama has won the endorsement of NARAL Pro-Choice America, a leading abortion rights advocacy organization that has supported rival Hillary Rodham Clinton throughout her political career. The organization announced the endorsement of its political action committee on Wednesday. "Pro-choice Americans have been fortunate to have two strong pro-choice candidates in Senator Obama and Senator Clinton, both of whom have inspired millions of new voters to participate in this historic presidential race," NARAL president Nancy Keenan said in a statement. "Today, we are proud to put our organization's grass-roots and political support behind the ...

(CNN) -- Hillary Clinton on Wednesday reiterated her vow to stay in the Democratic presidential race, but she said it would be a "terrible mistake" for her supporters to vote for John McCain over Barack Obama. Sen. Hillary Clinton vowed to stay in the race, saying she's "not going anywhere." "Anybody who has ever voted for me or voted for Barack has much more in common in terms of what we want to see happen in our country and in the world with the other than they do with John McCain," Clinton said on CNN's "The Situation Room." "I'm going to work my heart out for whoever our nominee is. Obviously, I'm still hoping to be that ...

He claims that's to follow. This is gutter politics, but what do you expect with the Democrats? The Clintons were said to be ready to throw the kitchen sink at Obama. Could they possibly go near anything like this?To his credit, Hannity let Manning have it. Obama calls female reporter 'sweetie' Post Date: 2008-05-14 18:04:20 by FOH

by Frank James Why did Sen. Barack Obama refer to a reporter during a Michigan campaign stop as "sweetie?" Was it an attempt by the Democratic presidential candidate to show his affinity for blue-collar folks by attempting to sound like a waitress at a diner? In the same vein, was he trying for a little machismo in front of the male workers at a Sterling, Michigan auto manufacturing plant he visited today? Needless to say, a lot of women and even some men aren't going to like it. Some will interpret it as Obama being dismissive to the point of being somewhat sexist. I'm not saying that's the correct interpretation, just that that's what some ...

John Edwards Endorsing Obama Tonight: Speculation Grows The Huffington Post | May 14, 2008 03:43 PM The Obama campaign has announced a "major national endorsement" for a rally tonight at 7pm in Michigan, and the rumor mill is swirling that it is none other than Sen. John Edwards. Time's Mark Halperin is teasing as much at his Web site, with a photo of Edwards and the text, "Ready to choose? Ready to hope?" Edwards has certainly dropped some hints in recent days. He's chided Hillary Clinton over her comments about race, said he can't figure out how Clinton could ever win the nomination, and even said he planned to endorse the person he voted for in North ...
