Clinton Touts White Support ("WHITE AMERICANS") Post Date: 2008-05-08 14:34:29 by aristeides

Clinton Touts White Support By Kate Phillips As if the divisions between race and gender in the Democratic Party hadnt been further exposed through Tuesday nights exit polls and by a very heated exchange on CNN between Donna Brazile and Paul Begala Senator Hillary Rodham Clintons interview with USA Today on Wednesday is further mining those tense depths. I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on, she said in the interview, citing an article by The Associated Press. It found how Senator Obamas support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not ...
Former Rep. Bonior, who had run Edwards' campaign, endorses Obama Post Date: 2008-05-08 14:31:09 by Arete

Barack Obama's presidential campaign just confirmed that former Michigan Rep. David Bonior, who had run John Edwards' 2008 presidential campaign, is endorsing Obama. The confirmation came in an e-mail to reporters announcing an 11 a.m. ET conference call during which Bonior and another Obama supporter -- former South Dakota Sen. Tom Daschle -- will talk to reporters. The Obama team released this statement from Bonior as well: "John Edwards ran a campaign focused on fulfilling a promise to America's working families that they could once again trust their leaders to put them first. As I look at the presidential race as it stands today, I see one candidate who has proven he ...

Colbert Bait 07 May 2008 03:26 pm This doesn't help counter the age jokes: Yesterday -- channeling Woodrow Wilson and Henry Cabot Lodge -- McCain referred to the "League of Nations." He had meant to say "League of Democracies," his proposal for a new organization of allies beyond the U.N. League of Nations? Not so much. ***************************************************************** A slip of the tongue in a senior moment is no doubt understandable. What's even worse is that this whole idea of a "League of Democracies" is such a terrible idea, as Gideon Rachman of the Financial Times persuasively explains in Why McCain's big idea is a bad ...
Obama recovers his momentum (FINANCIAL TIMES REITERATES ENDORSEMENT OF OBAMA) Post Date: 2008-05-08 13:47:01 by aristeides

Obama recovers his momentum This week's Democratic primaries in Indiana and North Carolina may not have been the knockout blow Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were seeking. But both contenders are now so bloodied that it is time for the referee to stop the fight and declare the winner. By any reasonable yardstick, that is Mr Obama. The young senator from Illinois won a thumping victory in North Carolina and held Mrs Clinton to a very small advantage in Indiana. Her recovery has now been checked, and was partly illusory anyway: even in the trough of "Bittergate" and with the Rev Jeremiah Wright around his neck like an albatross, Mr Obama was still widening his lead in ...

The Demise of the Razorback Yankee By George Will WASHINGTON -- Hillary Clinton, 60, Illinois native and Arkansas lawyer, became, retroactively, a lifelong Yankee fan at age 52 when, shopping for a U.S. Senate seat, she adopted New York state as home sweet home. She may think, or at least would argue, that when she was 12 her Yankees really won the 1960 World Series, by standards of "fairness," because they trounced the Pirates in runs scored, 55-27, over seven games, so there. Unfortunately, baseball's rules -- pesky nuisances, rules -- say it matters how runs are distributed during a World Series. The Pirates won four games, which is the point of the exercise, by a total ...

The last few weeks have been kinda heated on here. Many who swore they would never vote for the establishments candidate(s), or the lesser of two evils are shilling for one of these neocon fascists. Like it or not, mcinsane, obama, and the hildebeast aren't different enough to make a difference and certainly none of them will rule following our Conctitution. So why are YOU willing to vote and shill for one of these put up puppets? According to some reports, half of hitlery's voters won't support obama, some of the rest are crossover pubbies and so forth. Many pubbies won't support mcinsane and a lot of dems are against obama because of his race. I'm asking YOU to use a ...

WASHINGTON (AP) - From his five years in a North Vietnamese prison camp to his tenure as the Navy's liaison to the Senate, John McCain's Navy record boils down to a series of unadorned paragraphs that bestow upon him some of the nation's top military honors. The Navy recently released McCain's military record - most of it citations for medals during his Navy career - after a Freedom of Information Act request by The Associated Press. McCain was awarded a Silver Star Medal for resisting "extreme mental and physical cruelties" inflicted upon him by his captors from late October to early December 1967, the early months of his captivity, according to the citation. ...

Harvey Weinstein, the prominent movie producer and Democratic fundraiser, unleashed his legendary temper in a tirade aimed at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Weinstein, whos backing Hillary Clintons presidential campaign, threatened to cut off the cash flow to Democratic congressional candidates if Pelosi does not get behind a proposal to fund do-over primaries in Michigan and Florida, CNN reports. Clintons diminishing chances to snag the Democratic nomination are essentially dependent on seating delegates from those states at this summers convention. CNN has learned that this is an explosive conversation, CNNs Ed Henry reported Thursday morning. ...

Is Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., staying in the race to get the vice presidential slot? George (STEPHANOPOULOS) thinks so. Clinton vowed to fight on today, despite a growing chorus that says Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., has just about wrapped up the Democratic presidential nominaton. ABC's chief Washington correspondent George Stephanopoulos told Charles Gibson on "World News" that Clinton is staying in the race to negotiate a spot on the Democratic ticket in November. Just in case you were tempted to think about voting for one on the featured candidates foisted upon us. A new tax, to the tune of $845 billion, paid to the unelected and unrepresenting fat cats of the UN, is in the making! The House has passed and the Senate may vote tomorrow, May 1st (fittingly) . The bill has massive Jewish/Communist support, ruining US sovereignity, by yielding to global UN control,. "It doesn't bother U.N. sycophants that most U.S. handouts go into the hands of corrupt dictators who hate us and vote against us in the U.N., and that only 30% of our foreign aid ever reaches the poor". For the past 3 days I have been trying to come up with a topic to write about this week, but I keep coming up with the same answer - nothing. Which incidentally is pretty much the same answer Mrs. Clinton comes up with to most every question shes asked in an interview. For example, when she was asked today by ABCs George Stephanopoulos how she would deal with the threat of Irans nuclear weapons, she said that we would have to sit down and come to an agreement with them, but then she said we dont even know who is running Iran. Speak for yourself, Mrs. Clinton. And what could you possibly offer Iran to stop their nuclear weapons program? I can think of ...

If this man wins the presidency, America is finished as a nation. Forever. Very early Wednesday morning, after many voters had already gone to sleep, the conventional wisdom of the elite political pundit class that resides on television shifted hard, and possibly irretrievably, against Senator Hillary Clinton's continued viability as a presidential candidate. The moment came shortly after midnight Eastern time, captured in a devastatingly declarative statement from Tim Russert of NBC News: "We now know who the Democratic nominee's going to be, and no one's going to dispute it," he said on MSNBC. "Those closest to her will give her a hard-headed analysis, and if they lay it all out, they'll say: 'What is the rationale? What do we ...

Barack Obama (Ill.) in North Carolina, has not responded to Feinsteins phone call, the California senator ...

May 7 (Bloomberg) -- Hillary Clinton has loaned her Democratic presidential bid $6.4 million since April 11, bringing her personal investment in her campaign this year to $11.4 million. Clinton gave her campaign $5 million on April 11, $1 million on May 1 and $425,000 on May 5, spokesman Howard Wolfson said today. She loaned $5 million in January, and had $10.3 million in unpaid bills as of March 31. Clinton is struggling to keep up with Barack Obama's campaign spending and may face more difficulty after splitting two primary races last night. She lost the North Carolina primary by 15 percentage points and won by 2 points in Indiana. ``The race is getting to the wire and it's ...

Don Cazayoux had one of the greatest days of his 44 years Tuesday. He was sworn in as the newest member of Congress to the applause of his new colleagues in the House of Representatives. He got his plastic voting card and cast his first vote on the House floor at 1:37 p.m., opting against a Republican effort to retool the farm bill. He went back to his new office, where a crowd had gathered to congratulate him. Just three days earlier, he had narrowly won a special election in Louisiana, making him the first Democrat in three decades to represent the state's 6th District. But it wasn't all a bed of roses for Cazayoux. Being the newest Democrat in Congress also makes him the newest ...

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Former Sen. George McGovern, an early supporter of Hillary Rodham Clinton, urged her to drop out of the Democratic presidential race and endorsed her rival, Barack Obama. After watching the returns from the North Carolina and Indiana primaries Tuesday night, McGovern said Wednesday it's virtually impossible for Clinton to win the nomination. The 1972 Democratic presidential nominee said he had a call in to former President Clinton to tell him of the decision, adding that he remains close friends with the Clintons. "I will hold them in affection and admiration all of my days," he said of the Clintons. McGovern's announcement comes a day before Clinton ...

WASHINGTON - A campaign aide says Hillary Rodham Clinton lent herself $6.4 million in the past month. ADVERTISEMENT Politically wounded and financially strapped, Clinton plunged back into the presidential campaign Wednesday even as Barack Obama declared that Tuesday's primary results left him with a "clear path to victory." Obama beat Clinton soundly in North Carolina and fell just short in an Indiana cliffhanger, a rebound for the Illinois senator that presented Clinton with fast-dwindling chances to deny him the Democratic presidential nomination. The loan more than doubles Clinton's personal investment in her bid for the Democratic nomination. She gave her campaign ...
