I wanted to see how many Super Delegates he picked up. ************************************* thelastmovement.blogspot....s-obama-sweep-of-all.html 2/12/2008 Fixing Error Gives Obama Sweep of all WA Counties It turns out Barack Obama did win every county in Washington state's Democratic caucuses on Saturday. The state Democratic Party had initially reported that Hillary Rodham Clinton won just a single county, Douglas, in Eastern Washington by a 53-32 count of delegates. But now party leaders say someone ...

Could It Be True? The Whole GOP Death-Wish Thing?

There were two items juxtaposed on the New York Times' front page yesterday, with the first -- "From Bush, Foe of Earmarks, Similar Items" -- seeming to stand in answer to the second -- "Republicans Weighing the Benefits of Bush's Embrace." It's hard to imagine any party as suicidal as the Democratic, but this year we may have a real contender. For there they are, those ideologically disheveled and disoriented Republicans, still "weighing the benefits" of staying in bed with the one who so dramatically disheveled and disoriented them. Perhaps they're merely victims of the Stockholm syndrome. But whatever it is, there's something deeply ...

Up to 100K Los Angeles (INDEPENDENT) voters likely won't have ballots counted

As many as 100,000 independent voters in Los Angeles did not -- and most likely will not -- have their ballots counted in last week's Democratic presidential primary because of an unnecessarily complex system, inadequately trained poll workers and little effort by elections officials to notify voters of the proper procedures, according to news reports and voting-rights activists. In a system that seemed tailor made to fail, more than half of the Decline to State voters who cast ballots last week in Los Angeles County have been effectively disenfranchised. Unlike every other county in California, LA County requires unaffiliated voters to fill in an extra bubble on their ballot ...

Obama's Politics of Collective Redemption

Obama's Politics of Collective Redemption By Kyle-Anne Shiver "Wherever politics tries to be redemptive, it is promising too much. Where it wishes to do the work of God, it becomes not divine, but demonic." Pope Benedict XVI A messianic fever grips a segment of the American populace and media. A great leader seems to them poised to redeem our collective sins and change nearly everything, bringing about a new era in which permanent solutions are found to age-old conditions. Whenever I watch Barack Obama, listen to his eloquent but nonspecific oratory, and see the near-swooning young people who invariably follow him wherever he goes, I cannot help but think of the pied piper ...

Republicans Root for Obama

Washington (The Weekly Standard) Vol. 013, Issue 22 - 2/18/2008 - Republicans and Barack Obama are far apart ideologically, but they have a common enemy: Hillary Clinton. This explains why many Republicans look kindly on Obama's bid for the Democratic presidential nomination. Republicans have two goals in the 2008 race. One is to retain the presidency. The other is to deny the Clintons--Hillary and Bill--another four (or eight) years in the White House. Thwarting the Clintons won't be easy. Hillary Clinton is nowhere near as close to losing the Democratic nomination as many in the political community believe. It's true she doesn't inspire. In debates, she constantly flashes ...

Pa. Gov. Ed Rendell: Some White Voters ‘Not Ready’ to Elect Black Candidate
Post Date: 2008-02-12 21:28:29 by robin

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Gov. Ed Rendell, one of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s most visible supporters, said some white Pennsylvanians are likely to vote against her rival Barack Obama because he is black. “You’ve got conservative whites here, and I think there are some whites who are probably not ready to vote for an African-American candidate,” Rendell told the editorial board of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette in remarks that appeared in Tuesday’s paper. To buttress his point, Rendell cited his 2006 re-election campaign, in which he defeated Republican challenger Lynn Swann, the former Pittsburgh Steelers star, by a margin of more than 60 percent to less than 40 percent. ...

02/12/2008 A Constitutional President in 2008 Super Tuesday is behind us, and for many there were no surprises. The GOP presidential candidates who stood for the Constitution, individual liberty, and a sound economy, were marginalized by the national media and the party machine. But the machine no longer has a monopoly, and the countless millions who share our passion for liberty and limited government don’t need to play by its rules and choose between supporting John McCain or staying home on Election Day. There is a party that embraces their vision and whose presidential candidate will be on the ballot in November. That party is the Constitution Party. Ron Paul’s message to ...

Another top Hillary aide out Clinton's deputy campaign manager, Mike Henry, is out, Cillizza is is the first to report. I've obtained a copy of his farewell email to colleagues on the campaign, in which he cites the internal transition and wishes Clinton the best. "Out of respect for Maggie and her new leadership team I thought it was the best thing to do. As someone who has managed campaigns, I share the unique understanding of the challenges that the campaign will face over the next several weeks," he wrote. "Our campaign needs to move quickly to build a new leadership team, support them and their decisions and make the necessary adjustments to achieve the ...

Election Media Projections and the Council on Foreign Relations

So today, my boyfriend and I were curious as to just how the media calls winners for states when 1% of the vote has been tabulated. We found out that Edison Research Company, which is owned by Arbitron, compiles “data” that it has “researched” to get the projections. Well, the director of Arbitron is Shellye Archambeau, who was a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Therefore, we have a former CFR member running the companies that tells the media who tells us who has won the elections before the votes have even been counted. (LPAC) -- The British Fabian press chose the occasion of Super-Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, to make clear to the world what Lyndon LaRouche had been warning for weeks: Democratic Presidential hopeful Barack Obama can be politically destroyed by scandal on a moment's notice. Both the Guardian and the Independent published detailed stories on Obama's ties to jailed political fixer and slumlord Antoin "Tony" Rezko, one of the earliest political and financial backers of the Illinois Senator's meteoric rise to political prominence. The Guardian headlined its account "Obama-Rezko Link May Be Scrutinized By Republicans." The Independent was more lurid: "The Chicago ...

WASHINGTON - Sen. Barack Obama was projected to add to his string of recent victories with a substantial triumph over Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton in Virginia’s Democratic presidential primary, NBC News reported Tuesday. In the Republican primary, NBC said the race between Sen. John McCain and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee was too close to call. Voters in Maryland and the District of Columbia also were going to the polls Tuesday. With 168 delegates at stake on Tuesday, Obama hoped to build on the lead that he has gained on Clinton in the past week in NBC News' delegate count. In polling place interviews, more than eight in 10 voters in Virginia and Maryland said the country ...

RICHMOND, Virginia (Reuters) - Presidential candidate John McCain said on Monday he has rejected public funding and its accompanying spending limits as he seeks to wrap up the Republican presidential nomination. The Arizona senator asked for public funds last summer after his campaign nearly foundered, but said on Monday he does not need taxpayer money as he seeks to secure the party's nomination for the November election. PHOENIX (AP) - Rep. John Shadegg, a seven-term congressman, said Monday he will not seek re-election, becoming the 29th House Republican in the past 13 months to either leave office or decline to seek re-election. Shadegg, 58, said he wasn't positioning himself to fill the Senate seat that John McCain may abandon as he pursues the White House. "My plan was to serve as long as I thought I could be effective, but certainly not to stay forever," he told The Associated Press. "I've fought the fight and enjoyed it, and it's been a privilege." Shadegg is best known for his unsuccessful challenge to House Republican leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, and Minority Whip ...

I believe that Barack Obama will defeat Hillary and win the Democratic nomination. I think that this weekend's victories in states as diverse as Washington State, Louisiana, Nebraska, and Maine illustrates his national appeal and demonstrates Hillary's inability to win in states without large immigrant and Latino populations. Hillary's results on Super Tuesday, which amounted to a draw with Obama, will be her high water mark and will represent the closest she will ever come to the party nomination. Right now, CBS has Obama ahead in elected delegates with 1134, while Hillary has only 1131.By the time Virginia, Maryland, DC, Wisconsin, and Hawaii vote during the next week, Obama ...

Judicial Watch Announces List of Washington’s “Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians” for 2007 (Washington, DC) – Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, today released its 2007 list of Washington’s “Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians.” The list, in alphabetical order, includes: 1. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY): In addition to her long and sordid ethics record, Senator Hillary Clinton took a lot of heat in 2007 – and rightly so – for blocking the release her official White House records. Many suspect these records contain a treasure trove of information related to her role in a ...

Thank you for your interest in the Constitution Party! We welcome you to the growing list of Americans who are seeking a political home and one that will return our country to a Constitutional Republic that our founding fathers would recognize. As the date of the Constitution Party National Convention (April 23-26 in Kansas City, Missouri) approaches, several prominent Americans have expressed an openness to considering the possibility of seeking the Constitution Party Presidential nomination. Among those are former United States Senator Bob Smith; former Alabama Chief Justice, Roy Moore; the 2004 Vice-Presidential Nominee of the Constitution Party, Chuck Baldwin; WorldNetDaily. com writer ...

Will America close the books on the Bush dynasty when George W. leaves office in January? Or is it still possible that his younger brother, Jeb, will rise from the ashes of the second Bush presidency -- perhaps even as part of the Bush clan's ongoing duel with the House of Clinton? While one should never say never in politics, such a rematch in 2012 or 2016 is beginning to seem extremely unlikely. Even Jeb himself apparently regards prospects for a Bush resurrection as largely hopeless. To understand why, one needs to look more closely at the relationship between George and Barbara Bush's two eldest sons. George Walker, 61, and John Ellis Bush (who turns 55 Monday) have long been ...

Amidst a virtual blackout of coverage of a horrific war, a global ecological crisis and an advancing economic collapse, what passes for the mass media is itself in collapse. What’s left of our democracy teeters on the brink. The culprit, in the parlance of the day, has been the ...

Mike Huckabee is challenging the results of the Washington state Republican caucuses, his campaign announced Sunday, after accusing the state party chairman of calling the election for John McCain before all the votes were counted. The campaign will be pursuing a full investigation, including sending in lawyers to join those already on the scene in the state, officials told FOX News. Washington State Republican Party Chairman Luke Esser announced late Saturday that McCain had won the 2008 Republican caucuses in the state with 87.2 percent of precincts reporting. McCain had 25.5 percent over Huckabee’s 23.7 percent in that race. Esser issued a statement congratulating McCain on a ...
