Huckabee Broke By The Prowler Published 1/22/2008 12:08:32 AM Less than a month after a huge upset victory, and promises that fundraising would be ramped up, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is asking his senior staff to keep working for him without pay, while lower level campaign staff are seeing their salaries cut dramatically or eliminated altogether. "The goal is to get a leaner, meaner campaign structure moving into Super Tuesday," says a senior campaign adviser. But many of those being asked to take the cut are refusing, and walking away, leaving the campaign with holes to fill. "The money simply hasn't come in at the rate that we expected," says the ...

Our World: The audacity of truth Jan 21, 2008 21:49 | Updated Jan 22, 2008 9:15 By Caroline Glick It is hard to believe, but in just two weeks, American voters will all but determine the identities of the Democratic and Republican nominees for this year's presidential elections. It is hard to believe because today, after a handful of early primaries, neither side has even identified a frontrunner. The open race, unprecedented in recent history, is a consequence of the fragmentation of America's political center. Ten years after Bill Clinton's impeachment; seven years after President George W. Bush's contested victory in 2000; and five years into the Iraq campaign, the ...

Ronald Reagan Wins Louisiana Caucus Posted by Nick Bradley at January 23, 2008 08:56 AM According to the Shreveport Times, the Pro-Life/Pro-Family ticket won in all 7 districts last night. All non-Paul candidates pooled their delegates into a single delegate slate: Huck, Romney, Benito, McCain, Thompson. And what about Reagan? Well, this is the handout for the Pro-Life/Pro-Family delegate slate; It has a photo of Ron and Nancy Reagan and says "win one for the gipper." This is a new low for the rest of the field, but it is what it is and I am not suprised one bit. Non-Paul candidates also pooled their resources in Wyoming, where Paul was actually ahead on some of the first ...
The Audacity of Huck: The Religious Right roils the establishment by backing one of its own. Post Date: 2008-01-23 11:00:03 by aristeides

The Audacity of Huck The Religious Right roils the establishment by backing one of its own. By Michael Brendan Dougherty Mike Huckabee was supposed to be an amusing sideshow. Just last August, Mitt Romney and Rudy Giuliani dominated the GOP big tent, capturing the spotlight with their massive fundraising efforts and early endorsements. Meanwhile, without a single reporter in tow, Huckabee wandered around New Hampshire and Iowa, speaking to perhaps a dozen people at a time, joking that other candidates pay $150 for an exfoliation. I could just hand them a bar of Lava soap. Beltway conservatives and consultants, enjoying Hucks genial act, speculated that he might make a ...
Mistrust of voting machines on the rise - Texas sticking with electronic balloting despite reports of flaws Post Date: 2008-01-23 00:19:44 by Ferret Mike

In December, Colorado rejected the kind of touch-screen voting machines in wide use across Texas. Ohio called for a return to paper ballots after deciding that the kind of click-wheel voting machine used in the Houston area, as well as the touch-screen model, were unreliable and too vulnerable to computer-savvy manipulation of election results. California found in mid-2007 what it called serious security flaws in the same kinds of equipment. Amid growing concern about glitches in electronic election systems, the states also are requiring that voting machines produce receipts of a sort so voters can check whether their ballot choices are recorded correctly. Texas, however, plans no such ...
Firefighters Work To Sink Giuliani Campaign Post Date: 2008-01-22 20:07:27 by Brian S

Firefighters across the United States are joining forces to try to sink Rudy Giuliani's presidential campaign effort. Some local firefighters said they call his recollections of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, and promises of fighting terrorism a myth and insult. A firefighters' union on North Orange Blossom Trail was the first stop in a series of rallies on Tuesday. Members urged voters not to support Giuliani for president. The rally was organized by the International Association of Firefighters and family members of the victims of Sept. 11. They said Giuliani is a fraud when he claims to be a leader in the wake of the terrorist attacks, and a liar for claiming to ...
Good news for Huckabee (Thompson leaving said to help him the most) Post Date: 2008-01-22 17:45:30 by Ferret Mike

Fred Thompson has dropped out of the race for the Republican nomination for president, which can only boost the campaign of Mike Huckabee. Thompson stayed in long enough to cause damage to Huckabee in South Carolina's primary, siphoning off the evangelical and conservative votes from Huckabee, and boosting John McCain's win. In a statement issued at 2:24 p.m., Thompson said: "Today I have withdrawn my candidacy for president of the United States. I hope that my country and my party have benefited from our having made this effort. Jeri and I will always be grateful for the encouragement and friendship of so many wonderful people." Democratic strategist John Lapp said, ...

Fred Thompson quits presidential race 10 minutes ago Former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson quit the Republican presidential race on Tuesday, after a string of poor finishes in early primary and caucus states. "Today, I have withdrawn my candidacy for president of the United States. I hope that my country and my party have benefited from our having made this effort," Thompson said in a statement. Thompson's fate was sealed last Saturday in the South Carolina primary, when he finished third in a state that he had said he needed to win. In the statement, Thompson did not say whether he would endorse any of his former rivals. He was one of a handful of members of Congress who ...

9/11 Families, Firefighters Protest Giuliani's Orlando Appearance UPDATED: 2:50 pm EST January 21, 2008 ORLANDO, Fla. -- Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani made a campaign stop in downtown Orlando on Monday morning at the presidential ballroom at Church Street, but he wasn't alone. September 11 families and New York firefighters protested outside. Protestors say Giuliani lied to the public about his 9/11 record and they say they traveled to Orlando because they believe he can't be trusted. Giuliani greeted supporters in downtown Orlando after he was introduced by Orlando native and New York Yankees center fielder Johnny Damon. In front of a banner that read ...
Obama Calls Bill Clinton Untruthful Post Date: 2008-01-21 18:32:53 by robin

WASHINGTON Barack Obama challenged Bill Clinton's truthfulness Monday in a deepening feud with the husband of Obama's Democratic presidential rival. Obama's rebuke of the former president, who is still extremely popular with Democrats, came on the holiday honoring Martin Luther King Jr., when both Bill and Hillary Rodham Clinton focused on the civil rights leader. In an interview on ABC, Obama twice questioned Bill Clinton's veracity. "I have to say just broadly, you know, the former president, who I think all of us have a lot of regard for, has taken his advocacy on behalf of his wife to a level that I think is pretty troubling. You know, he continues to make ...

His commitment to keeping our military strong and his track record of transforming New York City make him the right man at the right time for our country. In Hollywood, just like in Washington, a lot of people talk. For Rudy Giuliani, talk is cheap. At the end of the day, results are what really matter. Rudy transformed New York City from the crime capital of America into the nation's safest large city. Prior to Rudy, New York was the ...

Congressman Duncan Hunter Exits Presidential Race, Returns to San Diego Post Date: 2008-01-20 12:51:13 by angle

We started this campaign a year ago right here, in San Diego Harbor, against the backdrop of American Naval power. We launched a campaign emphasizing a strong national defense, enforceable borders and restoring the industrial base of America. Today we end this campaign. The Nevada caucuses reflecting only 2% of the vote for me. I ran the campaign exactly the way I wanted to, and at this point not being able to gain traction in conservative states of Nevada and South Carolina, it's time to allow our volunteers and supporters to focus on the campaigns that remain viable. It's time for me to gear up for 2008's defense bill that will be put together over the coming weeks. There is ...
Brzezinski Clan Color Revolution Vs Diebold Vote Fraud In New Hampshire Post Date: 2008-01-20 11:49:01 by robin

"The Bush operation in Iowa had all the smell of a CIA covert operation." --William Loeb, Manchester Union Leader, February 24, 1980. The New Hampshire Democratic primary was no exercise in grass roots retail politics, but rather a clash between two cynical covert operations run by contending factions of intelligence community professionals. On the one side was an attempt to replicate here in the United States on behalf of Obama the sort of "color revolution" or "CIA people power coup" which the National Endowment for Democracy and the Brzezinski intelligence faction have carried out in such countries as Serbia, Georgia, and Ukraine. On the other hand, an ...
Fred Thompson, in or out? Post Date: 2008-01-20 02:15:09 by Ferret Mike

Fred Thompson just spoke to his supporters in South Carolina, where he appears headed for a weak third or fourth place finish. Thompson thanked everyone and then spoke about America and conservatism's contribution to it. He did not talk about Florida or being in the race to stay. Word is that Thompson will return to Tennessee to visit his mother in the hospital. While he's there, presumably, he'll consider his options. Frankly, and I say this with regret, it's difficult to see the case for him remaining in the race. Posted by Paul at 7:07

COLUMBIA, SCDespite miserable, chill, rainy weather in much of the state older voters, conservatives and white evangelical Christians turned out heavily at the polls for South Carolinas Republican first-in-the-nation primary Saturday, according to the Associated Press exit polls. This is good news for former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who rode to victory in Iowa on the support of evangelical and conservative Christians. He is counting on that same bloc to propel him to a win here, where evangelicals represent more than half of the GOP primary voters. Veterans made up about 25 percent of the overall vote, a group that Arizona Sen. John McCain is relying on in this race. ...

Not a word for second place in Nevada. 23 minutes ago Democrats Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama split the spoils Saturday in Nevada presidential caucuses marred by late charges of dirty politics. John McCain and Mike Huckabee dueled for victory in a hard-fought Republican primary in South Carolina. "This is one step on a long journey," Clinton told cheering supporters in Las Vegas. She captured the popular vote, but Obama edged her out for national convention delegates at stake, taking 13 to her 12. If the Democrats had co-front-runners, the Republicans had none, and looked to the first southern state primary to begin winnowing an unwieldy field. While McCain and ...

Sat Jan 19, 3:48 PM ET COLUMBIA, S.C. - As many as 90 percent of the electronic voting machines in one coastal South Carolina county did not work when polls opened in Saturday's Republican primary and officials also worried that snow forecast for the northern part of the state could impact voter turnout. Lisa Bourcier, a spokeswoman in Horry County, which is home to Myrtle Beach, said 80 percent of the roughly 400 machines that failed to function were up and running by noon and that technicians were working on the rest. She said officials had heard reports of voters being turned away because of machine failures, but had no idea how many. "There could've been some poll ...

WASHINGTON - Republican Mitt Romney won Nevada's caucuses Saturday while John McCain and Mike Huckabee dueled in the South Carolina primary, a campaign doubleheader likely to winnow the crowded field of presidential rivals. Democrats shared the stage in Nevada, where Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama vied for a caucus victory and the campaign momentum that goes with it. Romney's western victory marked two straight successes, coming after a win in the Michigan primary earlier in the week that revived his campaign. Alone among the Republican contenders, Rep. Ron Paul of Texas aired television ads in Nevada, and the libertarian-leaning Texan looked for his best showing of the ...

Polling is what is serious business. How so? Because 'they' use the poll information to shape what needs to be said by each talking head in the election. What?! Were you under the mistaken 'belief' that, somehow, the candidates are separate and equal contestants?! Nothing could be further from the truth. Each participant has a handler that coordinates the correct message to go out. If they begin to deviate from that message, then the national coverage/free TV advertising dries up. ...

If anyone can read this and NOT understand how the info is being used to shape perceptions of the elections and what should be accepted/believed, then you are far, far away from understanding what is actually going on: the annointed are playing their roles.... to perfection. And for those of you who do not understand, I suggest that you research the revealed ties to organized crime of McCain and Rudy boy-girl. And how nothing is ever reported on it in the major media. And after you do that, would you think that they are the only ones? Ever heard of President Ford? Or, how about President Truman? And, then think about this; not one individual on 'the other side' has ever brought any ...
Bloomberg Meets With Perot Manager, Ballot Expert Post Date: 2008-01-19 00:24:54 by Horse

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg met Friday with the ballot access expert and campaign manager for H. Ross Perot's third-party presidential bid, a sign of the multibillionaire's seriousness about a possible independent run. Bloomberg met privately with Clay Mulford, who is well-versed in third-party ballot access and served as campaign manager for Perot, according to an individual close to the mayor. Perot sought the presidency in 1992 and 1996. The lunch meeting with Mulford comes less than two months before Bloomberg would be able to start gathering signatures to get on the ballot and meet Texas' early deadline. If Bloomberg wants a chance at winning the state's large ...

45 minutes ago HOUSTON - The highest reaches of the Texas judicial system were consumed Friday by a real-life legal thriller that could be titled "The Runaway Grand Jury." A grand jury indicted a Texas Supreme Court justice Thursday on arson-related charges. But on Friday the district attorney's office that brought the case to the grand jury in the first place dropped the charges, angering members of the panel and drawing allegations of political backscratching. Harris County District Attorney Chuck Rosenthal, who is himself embroiled in a scandal involving inappropriate e-mails found on his office computer, said there was insufficient evidence to support the charges ...
