Lou Dobbs "Seriously Contemplating" Presidential Bid

Lou Dobbs for President? Don't laugh. After months of telling reporters that he "absolutely" would not consider leaving his highly-rated CNN show in which he crusades against free trade and illegal immigration, Mr. Dobbs posted a commentary on his Web site last week predicting a surprise new presidential candidate in 2008. The mystery candidate is an "independent populist . . . who understands the genius of this country lies in the hearts and minds of its people and not in the prerogatives and power of its elites." Friends of Mr. Dobbs say he is seriously contemplating a race for the first time, although it's still unlikely. They spin a scenario under which the ...

Is This Guy For Real? Jesus, there’s another video of Ben Johnson, the chairman of the Iowa Federation of College Republicans. In this one, he talks about his organization’s efforts to support the troops. And he totally says, at one point, “we send packages to their units.” Love your pom-poms, guy: “Beef jerky! Love beef jerky. That is the biggest thing. They just love it! So we buy packs of beef jerky, and we’ll buy toiletries, and we’ll buy — if they want a Sports Illustrated — they’ll write personally, and so we send packages to their units, just fulla stuff!” Here’s a way to support the troops — have ...

Rudy, Please Don't Smile. Ever. Rudy Giuliani has yet to run even one television ad. Strange, right? Well, the wait is over. Today, the Giuliani campaign unleashed his lisping, New Yawk accent on the American People. And guess what? Not one reference to 9/11! But he did sort of hint at it. Actually… those two white columns in the background over his right shoulder do sorta look like the WTC towers. Hmmm. Hey! Don’t play your subliminal games with me, Rudy. Oh, it’s on! And BTW? Soft lighting can’t conceal your creepy smile. You smiling is unnatural. So, please, don’t do it. Ever. Thanks.

Why the Ron Paul Campaign is Dangerous [Full Thread]

I am fast becoming the most unpopular man in America, among Ron Paul supporters that is. Truth is seldom popular among those at odds with that truth. Paul supporters have worked diligently to convince voters that their candidate is the “real deal” constitutionalist conservative in the ’08 presidential race and that he has a real chance of winning. But the facts simply don’t support either of these claims and pointing this reality out seems to drive Paul supporters into a fit of unbridled rage. The fact is, though Ron Paul himself is no threat to anyone or anything, his campaign is on a track that is very dangerous for America and the conservative movement in ...

the anti-jesuser?Psst... Bob Jones University Secretly Hates Mitt Romney In an attempt to quell angry God people from getting all self-righteous (good luck!), Mitt Romney held an invitation-only event with students, faculty and alumni of Bob Jones University Tuesday. Guess he figured that since it was a closed event, whatever private revelations about his campaign that would be discussed would never in a million years reach the press. And who wouldn’t believe that!? Sure enough, some sleuth at the meeting sneaked in an “audio recording device” — they can tape soundz people make! — and leaked it to CNN. Basic point: School Chancellor Bob Jones III ...

Before the events of 911, the greatest act of treason perpetuated by agencies within the U.S. government was the assassination of JFK some 44 years ago. We can gain some deep insights into how the political system, the cryptocracy, works by examining the subsequent cover-up of that crime. That insight can help us understand the current situation. After the death of JFK the next three Presidents just happened to be involved in the assassination in one way or another. Lyndon Johnson became President on November 22nd 1963 and was the main beneficiary of the assassination. He began the cover-up of the crime soon after and appointed the Warren Commission with several members who may have ...

Clinton aides plant student's question

The Iowa caucuses are known for their “living-room chats” where ordinary Iowans can meet candidates face-to-face and talk about what interests voters. When candidates have larger events or make major policy speeches, the crowds are bigger, but there is often still an opportunity for questions. But under the pressures of major media coverage, with polls narrowing in Iowa, campaigns can potentially control questions and coverage by planning questions ahead of time. While no campaigns admit to this practice, at a recent Hillary Clinton campaign event in Newton, Iowa, some of the questions posed to the New York Senator were planned in advance, planting some audience members in the ...

Play of the Day: McCain's Mom on Mormons

MEREDITH, N.H. (AP) - John McCain's 95-year-old mother, in a swipe at her son's rival Mitt Romney, said Friday that Mormons were to blame for the scandal that rocked the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics. During an appearance on MSNBC, Roberta McCain laid out why her son, John, deserves to win the Republican presidential nomination. But in evaluating McCain's primary rivals, she criticized Romney's Mormon faith and his time in Salt Lake City. "As far as the Salt Lake City thing, he's a Mormon and the Mormons of Salt Lake City had caused that scandal. And to clean that up, again, it's not a subject," Roberta McCain said. John McCain quickly stepped in: ...

NH Could Turn GOP Race Upside Down

MANCHESTER, N.H. - New Hampshire is known for turning Republican presidential primaries upside down. It could happen again this year. "We're a little tiny state, but we get to go out and rub shoulders with all of the candidates, and be a big part of the big decision," says Cindy Horvath, 46, an undecided Republican voter from Somersworth. And, she added, have a big impact. Polls show a tight race for the GOP nomination in the state. Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani and John McCain are in strong contention. Fred Thompson, Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul could complicate an already muddled contest. Uncertainties abound: _For starters, a date for the primary hasn't even been set. ...

Will Bush Cancel The 2008 Election?

Will Bush Cancel The 2008 Election? It is time to think about the “unthinkable.” The Bush Administration has both the inclination and the power to cancel the 2008 election. The GOP strategy for another electoral theft in 2008 has taken clear shape, though we must assume there is much more we don’t know. But we must also assume that if it appears to Team Bush/Cheney/Rove that the GOP will lose the 2008 election anyway (as it lost in Ohio 2006) we cannot ignore the possibility that they would simply cancel the election. Those who think this crew will quietly walk away from power are simply not paying attention. The real question is not how or when they might do it. ...

FRED THOMPSON IS FINISHED

Fred Thompson looked much too relaxed on Sunday’s “Meet the Press” interview with Tim Russert. He was nonchalant to the point of apathy about one of his key supporters being a convicted drug trafficker and his positions on rights for the unborn and the disabled were embarrassing in their lack of intellectual depth. Thompson has to know his days are numbered as a presidential candidate. Indeed, he is now in hot water for joking to Carl Cameron of Fox News that he has doubts about his own candidacy. The “Meet the Press” appearance, however, was more of a disaster than most people realize because the major media still distort the facts surrounding the controversial ...

State will review voting trouble in northwest Ohio county

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) -- Another election, another problem with counting the vote. This time, the trouble started with a record-setting flood in August that destroyed nearly all of the voting machines in Putnam County. And it only got worse on Tuesday when glitches shut down a batch of replacement machines in the northwest Ohio county and some elections workers failed to follow advice from state election officials, said Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner. Results didn't come in until early Wednesday morning long after the polls had closed, leaving the winner of a congressional primary unknown for hours. "We'll do a full review," Brunner said. "When one county fails, ...

Connecticut: Rain Causes Scattered Problems With New Voting Machines

HARTFORD, Conn. -- Connecticut voters went to the polls in dreary, rainy weather Tuesday to pick their municipal leaders. The rain caused minor problems with new optical scan voting machines at polling places in South Windsor, Hartford, and New Britain, Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz said. Voters brushed their paper ballots against wet coats or other wet surfaces, then tried to feed them through voting machines, causing the machines to jam. In those cases, backup machines were pressed into service and voters were allowed to cast their ballots again. Otherwise, Bysiewicz said, there were no problems with the new optical scanners that have replaced lever machines statewide. After ...
