A homeschooling mom says, "If you havent at least Googled Ron Paul, do yourself a favor and do that now. I am a registered Democrat folks. I have never voted for a Republican in my life. A friend spoke to me about Ron Paul and I took her advice and Googled his name. I think it might have changed my life, and I am not kidding. Never have I been inspired by someone who was running for the office of the president before. Never have I considered actually donating money before. But I am inspired by him and his constant truth and principle. I actually donated money to a political campaign. I am still shocked by that, and the fact that I will continue to donate as I am able until he ...
Statute forbids issue-oriented polls Political committees, parties can't ask voters about their views Post Date: 2007-08-29 22:45:53 by freepatriot32

TALLAHASSEE - Florida elections officials will begin enforcing a law which changes the state's "rules of political engagement": campaigns can't ask voters about the issues. For example, political committees that push or want to defeat ballot initiatives, such as changing Florida's property tax structure, can't survey voters to find out how they feel about the issue. A lawyer for the Department of State's Division of Elections issued the advisory opinion last week, at the request of a political committee that wanted to know if it could co-sponsor such polls with other groups, and if so, how to report the costs. "Truthfully, no one ever posed the ...

Criticism is coming his way because he's running for president and has been accused of exploiting 9/11 to lift his national profile. "I think it's a horrible decision and I'm outraged," ...

Republican Fred Thompson sidestepped questions Monday about the departure of yet another high-level aide to his presidential campaign-in-waiting. Linda Rozett, a longtime U.S. Chamber of Commerce official, is gone from the former Tennessee senator's committee to ``test the waters'' of a presidential bid after spending the last several weeks as communications director. ``I don't know what the story is,'' said Thompson, who was asked about the departure while campaigning at the Minnesota state fair. ``I don't know what to say about it except that she's a wonderful lady.'' Rozett's departure was disclosed in an e-mail to staffers from campaign ...

Obama seeking Ross's advice on Middle East Post Date: 2007-08-26 11:28:38 by Eoghan

Senator Barack Obama (D-Ill.) told a group of Jewish communal lay leaders that he is receiving advice on Middle East issues from Dennis Ross. The Democratic presidential hopeful made the disclosure during a closed meeting in New York with 25 Jewish leaders, according to a Jewish organizational source familiar with what was said at the gathering. It comes as the senator's campaign is making a concerted effort to reach out to the Jewish community across the country. The association with Ross could help Obama solve a key dilemma: how to win the confidence of hawkish pro-Israel donors without alienating his anti-war base. Ross, who served in the State Department of both Bush ...
After Ron Paul Makes Meteoric Gains, Romney "Borrows" Philosophy Post Date: 2007-08-24 20:33:33 by Eoghan

They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. On the other hand, it does not show much honesty, integrity, or conviction. The latest test of this principle is to watch 1st tier presidential candidate Mitt Romney start to emulate the political philosophy of 2nd tier candidate Ron Paul. Ron Paul has been in favor of small government since he became a Congressman. He has been in Congress for ten terms or twenty years. (Ron Paul is currently listed with 8 to 1 odds of becoming the next US President) Throughout that time he has consistently advocated that we strictly adhere to the Constitution of the United States. He has written volumes of information on the topic and may be the most ...

http://Gambling911.com recently sent its reporter, Kira Wissman, out about town in the Pittsburgh, PA area trying to get a pulse on public opinion towards the 2008 Presidential elections as we are about to conclude the Summer of 2007. Questions such as: Have you heard of Ron Paul? Are you following the Presidential Elections? Do you think Hillary Clinton can win the Democratic Election? Do you think the media influences the course of the election? Wissman is a CPA who has "real world" experience. Her results at times reflect what individuals are being "spoon fed" by the media. The above list of questions was sent out to a diverse group of people consisting of the ...
Rudy Giuliani: Confused, Ignorant, or Deceitful? Post Date: 2007-08-24 06:09:00 by Ada

The Republican Party is in desperate straits. How else to explain that Rudy Giuliani a former mayor with no foreign policy experience is the Republican front-runner, largely based on his supposed foreign policy expertise? That the former mayor is unsuited to be president is evident from his recent essay in Foreign Affairs. He is breathtakingly naive, shockingly irresponsible, and cynically dishonest in turn. Indeed, since this document was undoubtedly carefully drafted and vetted by his campaign staff and outside policy advisers, his personal instincts likely are even more extreme. Giuliani was an unpopular lame duck until 9/11, which transformed his public image. Thus, he ...
Embattled GOP Rep. Renzi to Retire From Arizona Seat Post Date: 2007-08-23 21:33:21 by Brian S

8:00 PM; Aug. 23, 2007 Rick Renzi, a three-term Republican U.S. House member from Arizona, announced Thursday that he will retire at the end of the 110th Congress and will not seek re-election in 2008. Renzis announcement ended months of speculation about his status, sparked by a pending federal investigation into his familys business practices. Though Renzi has denied wrongdoing, an FBI raid in April on a business owned by his wife cast a cloud over his political future and prompted him to surrender his committee assignments ahead of what would have been strong pressure from House Republican leaders to do so. Questions about Renzis 2008 intentions intensified when he ...

Thompson Faces Election Complaint Post Date: 2007-08-21 12:52:40 by Eoghan

A liberal blogger has filed a federal complaint against former Sen. Fred Thompson, the actor and unannounced Republican candidate for president, accusing him of violating election laws as he ponders his entry into the race. The blogger, Lane Hudson, submitted his complaint to the Federal Election Commission on Monday saying Thompson has raised far more money than he needs to explore whether to run for president. Federal law allows potential candidates to raise money to travel, conduct polls and pay for other expenses related to "testing the waters" for a political campaign. During that exploratory period, a potential candidate does not have to file financial reports with the ...

In the Senate, Wayne Allard, R-Colo., has already announced plans not to seek reelection, and other weighing the same option include Sen. John Warner of ...

Republican Fred Thompson is second in most of the national polls and he's been actively taking part in the Iowa State Fair. An interview with Fox News suggests that he is very close to making an announcement, "in the next few weeks". He thinks it is still a little bit to early to get in the race. Fred Thompson's odds to become the next US President sat at 4 to 1 at http://Sportsbook.com. Thompson spent the day Friday unapologetically defending his career as a Washington lobbyist paid to influence the government on behalf of an abortion-rights group, a leftist Haitian leader and other special interests. "Don't confuse the lawyer with the client," Thompson ...
