Obama Signs Law Banning Himself From Entering The US Post Date: 2014-04-25 21:10:56 by Lorie Meacham

You just cant make this stuff up. A few days ago the President of the United States signed into public law bill S. 2195, now known as Pub.L. 113-100. The law aims to deny admission to the United States to any representative to the United Nations who has been found to have been engaged in espionage activities or a terrorist activity against the United States and poses a threat to United States national security interests. In other words, if the US government thinks that if you have been spying on the United States, then they wont let you in the country. Gee, lets think for a moment who has been engaging in espionage against the United States? Anyone? ...
A Legal Way to Kill? Post Date: 2014-04-24 08:40:25 by Ada

When President Obama decided sometime during his first term that he wanted to be able to use unmanned aerial drones in foreign lands to kill people including Americans he instructed Attorney General Eric Holder to find a way to make it legal, despite the absolute prohibition on governmental extra-judicial killing in federal and state laws and in the Constitution itself. Judicial killing connotes a lawful execution after an indictment, a jury trial, an appeal and all of the due process protections that the Constitution guarantees defendants. Extra-judicial killing is a targeted killing of a victim by someone in the executive branch without due process. ...
US Threatens Russia Post Date: 2014-04-23 04:03:48 by Stephen Lendman

US Threatens Russia by Stephen Lendman Washington bears full responsibility for elevating illegitimate fascist putschists to power. Doing so reflects another sordid chapter in US history. For sure, it won't be the last. Bullying, bluster and threatening ultimatums define US policy. John Kerry warned Sergei Lavrov. Moscow has "days, not weeks," to assure Ukrainian four-part agreement terms are implemented. State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki repeated his threat, saying: "The secretary urged Russia to take concrete steps to help implement the Geneva agreement, including publicly calling on separatists to vacate illegal buildings and checkpoints, accept amnesty and ...

President Obama signed Ted Cruzs bill barring visas for ambassadors suspected of terror tiesaimed squarely at Iraninto law Friday. He then made clear he will not enforce it. In a signing statement, Obama said he would treat the new law as advisory in circumstances in which it would interfere with the exercise of his constitutional discretion to receive or reject ambassadors. Candidate Obama was critical of George W. Bushs presidential signing statements. [W]hat George Bush has been trying to do, as part of his effort to accumulate more power in the presidency, Obama said during a 2008 campaign appearance, hes been saying I can ...
Latest White House Gatecrasher a Real Fox Post Date: 2014-04-19 18:24:30 by Ada

While President Obama deals with Russian President Vladimir Putin abroad, the groundskeepers and Secret Service agents who guard the White House are trying to combat an equally wily opponent at home. The latest gatecrasher to show up at the presidents home uninvited is not a Real Housewife but a real, live fox. The little red fox was first spotted on the White House grounds last fall, just before the government shutdown. According to The Wall Street Journal, while White House staffers found themselves at home during the furlough, the fox made himself at home at the White House. We dont mind that he passes through, but we dont want him to stay, ...
The Rothbard-Hating Kochs and Astro-Turf "Student" Organizations Post Date: 2014-04-18 07:44:49 by Ada

Lifted from the comments at the SFL Board Member: Lee Harvey Oswald Acted Alone in Killing JFK post: Pay no attention to to the power elite, says a Koch-funded, astro-turf student organization. This same org is promoting hostility to Russia, on behalf of the Kochs, to increase the relative value of their vast energy resources, and to have a hand in Ukraines. It is also part of the decades-long attempt by the Rothbard-hating Kochs to turn libertarianism into a tame Republican philosophy that buttresses their part of the oligarchy. One has to ask why the Kochs and others spend so much time and money attempting to co-op the hardcore libertarian movement. The answer is ...
Ron Paul: The toughest letter I’ve ever had to send Post Date: 2014-04-12 00:58:29 by Horse

This is one of the toughest letters Ive ever had to send. For years, people have joked that the three most feared letters in the English language may well be these . . . I R S. But today, Im not laughing. Just days ago, the IRS handed Campaign for Liberty a hefty fine and DEMANDED we turn over sensitive contributor information. If we dont comply with the IRS outrageous demand for sensitive donor information, Im afraid well face additional fines that could cripple Campaign for Liberty and perhaps even force us to shut our doors. But,Im not naïve. I know where this is headed. The statists at the IRS know Ill NEVER EVER ...

Last week, National Intelligence Director Gen. James R. Clapper sent a brief letter to Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, in which he admitted that agents of the National Security Agency (NSA) have been reading innocent Americans emails and text messages and listening to digital recordings of their telephone conversations that have been stored in NSA computers, without warrants obtained pursuant to the Constitution. That the NSA is doing this is not newsworthy Edward Snowden has told the world of this during the past 10 months. What is newsworthy is that the NSA has admitted this, and those admissions have far-reaching consequences. Since ...
Growing East/West Divide Post Date: 2014-04-10 04:00:46 by Stephen Lendman

Growing East/West Divide by Stephen Lendman US hostility toward Russia is unprecedented. It exceeds the worst of Cold War politics. John Kerry's Tuesday Senate testimony highlights what's ongoing. Big Lies substitute for truth. Kerry hypes one after another. Credibility isn't his long suit. Or integrity. He represents the worst of imperial arrogance. His style reflects demagoguery, bullying, and bluster. He's contemptuous of rule of law principles. He deplores democratic values. He's committed to war, not peace. He's vying to become America's worst ever diplomat. His Senate testimony was transparently dishonest. He turned truth on its head. He threatened ...
Who Was Behind the Syrian Sarin ‘False Flag’ Attack? Post Date: 2014-04-07 07:48:00 by Ada

It wasnt just Turkey Its in somewhat dubious taste to start off a column by saying "I told you so," but in this case thats the shortest and indeed only way to convey my reaction to Seymour Hershs piece in the London Review of Books revealing that the chemical attack which nearly triggered a full-scale US military operation against the Assad regime was a false flag incident engineered by the Turks. As I pointed out back in September, as the backlash against the supposedly imminent Syria strike gathered steam: "Congress is wary because of the polls no one wants to own this one. As for the media: they, too, are taking it slow, writing articles ...
If You Do Not Conform, The Thought Nazis WILL Get You Post Date: 2014-04-04 08:40:49 by Ada

Big Brother Is Watching YouIf you do not conform to the new politically correct moral code in America, you cannot be a CEO of a major corporation. If you think that I am joking, just read on. I am actually deadly serious. If you are a young person in America today, what you believe about certain issues is going to determine how high you can climb the ladder in your professional life. In fact, a day is rapidly approaching when anyone that wants to have any measure of professional success in our society is going to have to conform to the moral code. If you choose not to conform, the thought Nazis WILL get you. Just check out what happened to Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich this week. He was ...

In late 2008, when President Obama opted more for continuity than change and ceded control over much of his foreign policy to hawkish rivals he locked in many of Dick Cheneys neocon theories that trampled constitutional principles, as retired JAG Major Todd E. Pierce explains. By Todd E. Pierce Dick Cheneys ideology of U.S. global domination has become an enduring American governing principle regardless of who is sitting in the Oval Office, a reality reflected in the recent Ukrainian coup, the 2011 regime change in Libya and drone wars waged in several countries by President Barack Obama. The final form of this ...

It was almost ten years ago when, before the House International Relations Committee, I objected to the US Government funding NGOs to meddle in the internal affairs of Ukraine. At the time the Orange Revolution had forced a regime change in Ukraine with the help of millions of dollars from Washington. At that time I told the Committee: We do not know exactly how many millionsor tens of millionsof dollars the United States government spent on the presidential election in Ukraine. We do know that much of that money was targeted to assist one particular candidate, and that through a series of cut-out non-governmental organizations (NGOs)both American and ...
Rand Paul “concerned about who is truly in charge of our government” Post Date: 2014-03-19 16:05:53 by Ada

Warns of dystopian nightmares coming true Libertarian Kentucky Senator Rand Paul warns in a speech today that he believes US spooks and shadow government agencies are drunk with power, and that elected representatives are privately afraid of those operating behind the curtain. In a scheduled appearance at the University of California-Berkeley, Paul will address the continuing domestic spying controversy. In prepared comments Paul notes I am honestly worried, concerned about who is truly in charge of our government. Most of you have read the dystopian nightmares and maybe, like me, you doubted that it could ever happen in America. If the CIA ...
Ron Paul: Crimea secedes. So what? Post Date: 2014-03-18 23:11:04 by Tatarewicz

PressTV... Residents of Crimea voted over the weekend on whether they would remain an autonomous region of Ukraine or join the Russian Federation. In so doing, they joined a number of countries and regions including recently Scotland, Catalonia and Venice that are seeking to secede from what they view as unresponsive or oppressive governments. These latter three are proceeding without much notice, while the overwhelming Crimea vote to secede from Ukraine has incensed US and European Union officials, and has led NATO closer to conflict with Russia than since the height of the Cold War. What's the big deal? Opponents of the Crimea vote like to point to the illegality of ...

Exclusive: Official Washingtons bipartisan hysteria over Ukraine and Crimea is evidence that the neocons not only weathered the public fury over the Iraq War but are now back shaping U.S. geopolitical strategies, reports Robert Parry. By Robert Parry By the middle of last decade, the storm clouds were building over the neocons: their regime change in Iraq was a disaster; President George W. Bushs Mission Accomplished speech was a running joke; news articles were appearing about their dark side behavior in the war on terror; and the public was tired of the blood and treasure being wasted. You might have expected that the neocons ...
If Spying on Senate Is So Bad, Why Is It OK for Them To Spy On Us? Post Date: 2014-03-17 07:59:16 by Ada

The reaction of Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) to last weeks revelations that the CIA secretly searched Senate Intelligence Committee computers reveals much about what the elites in government think about the rest of us. Spy on thee, but not on me! The hypocrisy of Sen. Feinstein is astounding. She is the biggest backer of the NSA spying on the rest of us, but when the tables are turned and her staff is the target she becomes irate. But there is more to it than that. There is an attitude in Washington that the laws Congress passes do not apply to Members. They can trample our civil liberties, they believe, but it should never affect their own freedom. Remember that much ...
Ron Paul slams US on Crimea crisis and says Russia sanctions are 'an act of war' Post Date: 2014-03-16 14:43:21 by X-15

The former Republican congressman and three-time presidential candidate Ron Paul has launched a scathing attack on what he calls a US-backed coup in Ukraine, insisting the Crimean people have the right to align their territory with Moscow and characterizing sanctions against Russia as an act of war. He also said providing economic aid to Ukraine was comparable to giving support to rebels in Syria knowing it would end up in the hands of al-Qaida. The libertarian gurus remarks in an interview with the Guardian are almost diametrically opposed to those of his son, the Republican presidential hopeful Rand Paul, who has called for stiff penalties against Russia and declared: ...

Serbia and Ukraine, Crimea and Kosovo On Sunday, March 16, two polls will be held in Eastern Europe. One will be a complete mockery of democracy, resulting in a government determined to trample a countrys sovereignty and territorial integrity. The other will be a referendum on independence in the Crimea. The same powers that launched the illegal, illegitimate war of aggression against Serbia in 1999, occupied and in 2008 illegally declared a portion of Serbia an independent state, now howl about "aggression" from Russia and "territorial integrity" of Ukraine. As Justin Raimondo puts it, "Western leaders only bloviate about moral and international ...

PressTV... Former US congressman Ron Paul has defended Russian President Vladimir Putin over the upcoming referendum in Ukraines autonomous region of Crimea. Following the current crisis in Ukraine, people in Crimea will vote on Sunday on whether they want to be part of Ukraine or Russia. In an interview with Fox News, Paul said Washington and its Western allies participated in the overthrow of the government of Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovich. This whole thing that Putin is the big cause of the trouble and yet theres pretty good evidence that the Europeans as well as the American government had to contrive to have the overthrow of a government that most people ...
How the NSA Plans to Infect ‘Millions’ of Computers with Malware Post Date: 2014-03-13 20:11:50 by Ada

One presentation outlines how the NSA performs industrial-scale exploitation of computer networks across the world. Top-secret documents reveal that the National Security Agency is dramatically expanding its ability to covertly hack into computers on a mass scale by using automated systems that reduce the level of human oversight in the process. The classified files provided previously by NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden contain new details about groundbreaking surveillance technology the agency has developed to infect potentially millions of computers worldwide with malware implants. The clandestine initiative enables the NSA to break into targeted ...
Hillary Clinton: Playing a Dog-Eared ‘Hitler’ Card Post Date: 2014-03-08 06:02:54 by Ada

The frontrunner to become the next president of the United States is playing an old and dangerous political game comparing a foreign leader to Adolf Hitler. At a private charity event on Tuesday, in comments preserved on audio, Hillary Clinton talked about actions by Russias President Vladimir Putin in the Crimea. "Now if this sounds familiar, its what Hitler did back in the 30s," she said. The next day, Clinton gave the inflammatory story more oxygen when speaking at UCLA. She "largely stood by the remarks," the Washington Post reported. Clinton "said she was merely noting parallels between Putins claim that he was protecting ...
Ukraine Crisis Escalates Post Date: 2014-03-08 03:17:54 by Stephen Lendman

Ukraine Crisis Escalates by Stephen Lendman War of words continues. Washington played the sanctions card. Obama acted unilaterally. He did so by executive order. He targeted "individuals and entities responsible for activities undermining democratic processes or institutions in Ukraine." It includes what he calls "military intervention in Crimea." His action doesn't preclude further steps. Expect more to follow. Hardball is longstanding US policy. Bullying is standard practice. Rule of law principles don't matter. They're discarded, ignored, forgotten and disobeyed. Washington rules alone apply. Plans call for advancing America's imperium. ...

Why Does Ukraine Seem So Much Like Syria? Post Date: 2014-02-20 07:33:31 by Ada

In Ukraine, US-backed rebels seize weapons from a military depot and begin firing on police killing at least ten. The rebel groups occupy and torch government buildings, trade union headquarters, the central post office, and political party headquarters. They occupy local government facilities in other cities and physically attack local authorities. Their goal is to overthrow the elected government. Reports of rebel reinforcements arriving, with bulky backpacks near the scene of the latest protests, are suspiciously reminiscent of the Internet in a Suitcase project funded by the US government to provide tools for activists in regime-change ...
