Can the GOP defend capitalism?

Can the GOP defend capitalism? Written by Stephen MacLean | Thursday 16 February 2012 Of America’s two political parties, Republicans are viewed as the better friend of the market-place. But these capitalist credentials have taken a beaten in the race to choose a candidate to challenge the Democrats for the White House. Two recent events on the campaign trail epitomise GOP troubles. The first sign of danger came in January when former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney’s business career came under scrutiny, with former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich (and Texas governor Rick Perry) calling into question Romney’s tenure at Bain Capital, a private equity and venture ...

Maine Caucus Results Look Even Fishier

Will Mitt Romney's "victory" in the February 11 Maine presidential caucuses be taken away like his phony victory in Iowa? That now seems quite possible. The Maine GOP declared the former Massachusetts Governor the narrow winner of the state's presidential caucus February 11, but Romney's 194-vote margin of victory over Texas Congressman Ron Paul is being whittled away as more results have been reported. Moreover, the state's rural Washington County — along with a few other communities that postponed their caucuses February 11 — will hold the final caucuses Saturday, February 18 and may decide the victor of the non-binding straw poll. But GOP Party ...

Are the Maine GOP caucus results in doubt? http://content.usatoday.com/communities/onpolitics/post/2012/02/ron-paul-maine-caucuses-washington-county-romney-/1#.Tzxa6dTARQe By Catalina Camia, USA TODAY What is it with GOP presidential caucuses and the counting of those results? The Bangor Daily News in Maine reports "pressure is on" the state Republican Party to "reconsider its weekend declaration that Mitt Romney won" the Maine caucuses. Romney edged out Ron Paul by 194 votes. Several Maine towns were not included in the vote totals released Saturday, Feb. 11, because they did not hold their caucuses by that date. The newspaper's town-by-town review found that ...

[Pic link] One thousand veterans and active duty troops will shatter the corporate media hoax that insists members of the American military do not support Ron Paul due to his opposition to the unconstitutional forever war agenda of the establishment. Despite this myth, the New York Times was obliged to admit reality last December, even if the admission wasn’t featured on the front page of the newspaper but instead posted on a remote area of its website. “Representative Ron Paul, the congressman who favors the most minimalist American combat role of any major presidential candidate and who said all of the above quotes, has more financial support from active duty members of the ...

They are PACs, and so on for the following ("The organizations themselves did not donate , rather the money came from the organizations' PACs, their individual members or employees or owners, and those individuals' immediate ...

Was Maine Stolen from Ron Paul?

The mass media have repeated the official results for the Maine GOP presidential caucuses that former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney narrowly beat Texas Congressman Ron Paul by a 39 percent to 36 percent margin. But the official results are incomplete. And postponement of the results from one of Ron Paul's strongest counties, Washington County, because of a forecasted snowstorm may alone have tipped the balance in Romney's favor. Ron Paul's campaign confidently predicted victory when the final votes are tallied. "Only 194 votes [statewide] stand between Paul and a first place victory," RonPaul 2012 blogger Jack Hunter pointed out in a post after the media declared ...

[A bunch of claptrap about evil mutants removed] ...But he wasn't a factor in Maine, where Romney narrowly defeated Paul, capturing 39 percent to Paul's 36 percent of the vote, according to state Republican chairman Charlie Webster. Santorum and Gingrich, who didn't actively campaign in Maine, won 18 percent and 6 percent respectively. The Maine vote totals reflected about 84 percent of the state's precincts. The contests scheduled for the coming days -- including an entire county that postponed its caucuses because of a snow storm -- will not be counted, according Webster, the state GOP chairman. "We're not going to even accept the ballots. No one's going to ...

Rep. Ron Paul not conceding Maine vote By Josh Lederman - 02/12/12 12:46 PM ET Rep. Ron Paul is not conceding the GOP’s Maine caucuses, which state party officials and major networks called Saturday for rival Mitt Romney. With 84 percent of precincts reporting, Romney has 39 percent to Paul's 36 percent, and Maine GOP Chairman Charlie Webster declared Romney the winner Saturday night, following a week-long series of caucuses. But in Washington County, where Paul had expected to perform well, the caucus was postponed until Feb. 18 due to an expected snowstorm. Washington County Republican Chairman Chris Gardner told the AP he had no idea when the caucuses were postponed that his ...

Ron Paul: Maine Caucus Results A Virtual Tie

PORTLAND, Maine -- Republican presidential contender Ron Paul says he wishes all the Maine caucuses would have met on Saturday. The Maine GOP chairman declared rival Mitt Romney the victor in Maine even though several places in the state won't hold their caucuses until next weekend. Paul is addressing his supporters in Maine and telling them not to be discouraged. He says the momentum behind his candidacy will continue and he's pledging not to go away. He also says -- in his words -- that the revolution continues. The Texas congressman is calling the outcome a virtual tie, noting that he lost by a narrow margin and some caucuses weren't included in the count. Poster ...

In Maine, Paul vies to extend Romney losing streak

SANFORD, Maine (AP) - Mitt Romney hoped to avoid a fourth straight election setback Saturday in the GOP presidential nomination race, but feisty Ron Paul could extend that losing streak with a victory in Maine's caucuses. Romney, the one-time front-runner, stepped up efforts to court Republicans in recent days, reflecting growing concern about the outcome of what has become a two-man race in Maine. Neither Newt Gingrich nor Rick Santorum, who won in Missouri, Minnesota and Colorado on Tuesday, is actively competing in Maine, where party officials planned to declare a winner Saturday evening. Paul was optimistic as he greeted morning caucus-goers in Sanford, where a few hundred ...

My brother recognized the man....he holds a high office in the GOP in my brother's county. After some small chit chat....this is the conversation that took place......keep in mind....neither the Secretary nor the GOP official knew that my brother was a Paul supporter.......
