Saudi Arabia isn’t obligated to produce more oil because the US told them they wanted them to produce more oil. Saudi, at least in theory, is an independent country that can make their own decisions. Moreover, there are various reasons why Saudi would not want to produce more oil. Maybe they like the price being high, because they then make the same amount of money while having to drill less?
